Look, I haven't really dived deep into his stuff yet. I know he leans toward those simple love ballads, but hearing him live for the first time today? Man, I actually loved his storytelling style. It’s super self-deprecating, but still feels so warm... You should definitely suggest a track or two.

This might sound over the top, but if anyone asks me what the best song is from the best album by the greatest American rock band ever, my answer is definitely this one.

Just a little bit of old-school Franz from back in the day.

His singer-songwriter phase didn't really stick for me, but here's one thing I still find myself revisiting a few times a year.

You might know the classic Wait for Me version by Franz, but for me, it’s always better in Arsen's rendition.

Edit - important note: "Wait for Me" is actually a Predin/Franz track that Arsen covered for (I think) the 1989 Witnesses/Stories album with Predin. The cover above isn't related to that record—it's from the 1977 Dedić-Golob album, where it isn't a cover of the Franz standard, but rather a smoothed-out Golob's version of that legendary Konstantin Simonov song.

If it were me, I’d recommend this one from Franz—it's my absolute favorite.

And I just stumbled upon this by accident. Check out the girls on the cover (look at the art)—ballerinas or whatever they are—this is about their reunion after 35 years.

After that, maybe the Ne Mi Dihat Za Ovratnik album. I haven't listened to much of Tulio's siren or Quiet waters. Honestly, I don't even remember the Adija's wisdom album. Everyone raves about the ikebana album, but whenever I tried listening to it back in the day, it just didn't click for me. It's kind of like how people always praise 'Dolgcajt' from Pankrt, but that one never sat right with me either. I'm more into the Red Album and State darling, though Song device isn't bad either.

I stumbled onto this one by total accident—check out those ballerinas on the cover. It’s basically their reunion after 35 years.

After that, maybe try the "Don't Breathe on My Collar" album. I haven't spun Tulio's siren or Quiet waters much. As for the Adija's wisdom album, I don't even remember it. Everyone raves about the ikebana album, but honestly, whenever I tried it back in the day, it just didn't click for me. Same goes for Pankrt's "Dolgcajt"—people love it, but I wasn't feeling it. I'm more into Red Album and State darling—plus, Song device isn't bad either.

We were talking about the early stuff—that raw sound from Haustor's debut—back in that legendary 1981 American rock era, but we totally skipped over ikebana. You could probably mistake some of those other bands for foreign acts, but Franz was in a league of their own during that phase. They were purely unique.

I wasn't sure if there was already a thread dedicated to Preston, so I figured I'd just drop this here. Honestly? Still thinks he’s an absolute genius.

Killer little tune!

Warmest regards, my old boss lady,
sent by that guy from back in our school days.
Remember that pale-faced kid,
that scrawny, spoiled little brat?

While we were out looking for some "country air" at your place,
we used to sip the morning dew off the grass,
and yeah—I remember barefootedly stepping in
fresh cow manure while we wandered around.

Years have flown by and fate—it's a funny thing—
brought us back together at your restaurant:
The Head Chef, me and Preston,
lost in a wild night of wine and good food.......

CHORUS:

I can still smell those ripe melons
to the rhythm of a swaying blouse.
And how I kissed away the tears,
knowing deep down the end was near.
I'm swallowing your scent forever,
while the foghorns howl out at sea.
The roast turkey smells amazing
and now I finally see it clearly:
It’s never too late for us!
