Best hacker movies?

It’s like when some guy brags about having an ISDN connection, and then proceeds to upload a three-second clip about hackers being part of some massive conspiracy. Hilarious, right? 😁

Oh man, I just stumbled onto this—turns out there's a movie based on those crazy true events from Cuckoo's Egg:

It’s called 23, and it basically retells everything from the perspective of the hackers themselves. If you haven't seen it, Cuckoo's Egg is that wild story by Cliff Stoll (check out those posts a few threads up)—he was this physicist/part-time sysadmin trying to track down hackers, but this flick focuses on the bad guys. I haven't actually sat down to watch it yet, so I have zero clue if it's any good, but now I'm totally obsessed with finding a copy.

That whole saga was huge, though—like, seriously important stuff. It basically kicked off modern computer security policies, things like "don't use dictionary passwords" and setting up those email lists to blast out security patches, all that jazz.

I haven't caught the movie, but I've read the book a bunch of times! It starts off pretty slow—just some new guy at a computer center dealing with a glitch in accounting and stuff—but once it really gets moving? Man, you cannot put it down. Definitely gotta grab this movie.

Anyway, it isn't exactly a "hacker movie," but I bet most people don't even realize this one exists:

The main crew: Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, Steve Ballmer, and Paul Allen. And get this—John DiMaggio plays Steve Ballmer! Yeah, the same guy who does the voice for Bender in Futurama 🤣

I haven't seen this one either, but it is definitely going on my list... I see they have it on DVD on Amazon, so it's definitely getting added to my next binge-watch session

It works fine for me—just right-click and hit "save as..."

Give it another shot. If it’s still being glitchy, I'll try hosting it somewhere else. Honestly, I don't have the energy to set up yet another free hosting site, and the one I usually use is undergoing some kind of upgrade or whatever.
