Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2

The first one is way better. Total waste of time making a sequel.
The movie reminds me of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which honestly just makes me think of that zombie trash, House of 1000 Corpses.

A few decent flicks:
Rosemary's Baby
The Last House on the Left (
Ebola Syndrome
Burnt Offerings (seen the story before, but the movie is worth a watch)
I Spit on Your Grave
Necromantik
Bunman: Untold Story
And so on.

By the way, anyone else here into Japanese horror?

Cannibal Ferox isn't even really a horror movieβ€”it's more like an action flick with TONS of violence. I remember seeing it at the theater when I was just a kid, and people were literally walking out in droves right in the middle of the show. The whole thing is basically one big massacre. 😁

You just don't see movies like that being made anymore; they wouldn't stand a chance with today's censorship. 😁

Japanese horror is great, though there isn't quite enough of it out there. Honestly, I'd rather have a few solid gems than the mountain of garbage Americans churn out these daysβ€”not to mention those terrible remakes of classics like Dawn of the Dead.

Some of the absolute best American horror flicks have to be the original Hellraiser, the Reanimator comedy, and The Serpent and the Rainbow.

I actually lost my mind for a second too when I couldn't track it down at Algorithm or Plug and Play.

Japanese horror hits the mark, though there isn't much of it. Still, I'd take a little quality over the mountain of garbage Americans churn out nowβ€”not to mention those terrible remakes of classics like Dawn of the Dead.

Yeah... they wouldn't pass censorship. Besides, they aren't filled with mindless blondes running around screaming for 90 minutes straight just to make your brain leak out of your ears.

Japanese horror is solid. Even though I'm not a huge fan of Japanese cinema in general, I can say they're more original than American stuff. At least modern American films have some actual ideas. 😁 (think Audition, Guinea Pig: Devil's Experiment, etc.).

Anyone seen The Grudge? That Japanese-American one with Buffy. 😁
It doesn't feel like your typical American horror; it actually has a hook. Though, it reminds me of that wet, black-and-white ghost girl from The Ring....

I just finished watching it after downloading the file, and honestly, I can tell you right now that those five hours spent downloading were a total waste of my time! It wasn't anything specialβ€”just a little bit creepy, I guessβ€”but I actually enjoyed the first American remake much more. Even the sequel wasn't half bad!

It’s typical for Americans to ruin perfectly good movies just because they decided to churn out sequels.
Take The Omen, for example.
The original was solid... but the second and third installments were garbage and had nothing to do with the first one.
Jeepers Creepers... the first one worked... the second was just boring.
Blair Witch (okay, the movie is stupid) but the first one is decentβ€”good conceptβ€”but the sequel is death by boredom.
Pet Sematary... the first one is great, the second isn't. Same goes for Texas Chainsaw, Freddy, and so on and so forth.
And don't even get me started on this modern trend of shoving crap like Freddy vs. Jason or Alien vs. Predator down our throats...
But whatever...

Oh, and The Grudge... compared to most American horror trash these days, this one actually holds up. It's watchable, even if that little girl crawling out of the TV is a bit ridiculous....

You can't miss the building; it has "BLITZ" written all over it in massive letters! πŸ™‚

placidraven22 said:Pet Sematary... the first one is top-tier, but the second? Not so much. Then you've got Texas Chainsaw and Freddy Krueger.

Personally, I thought both Pet Sematary movies were awesome!
Wait, wasn't Texas Chainsaw just a remake rather than an actual sequel?
And speaking of Freddy, sure, the sequels might not always hit the mark, but Wes Craven's creative style is just so original and brilliant, don't you think?

Brian Foster2 said:You bring up Freddy Krueger. Look, maybe the sequels aren't exactly cinematic masterpieces, but Wes Craven’s style? It's original. It's damn good. Period.

Nobody’s claiming his bits aren't original or even too good. Freddy Krueger is easily one of my all-time favorite films. I love that movie. But honestly, compared to his "Last House on the Left," Freddy is practically a comedy. The first installment holds up well enough, but the sequels? They were completely unnecessary. Still, it beats a Scream any day.😁
Fine. You can't argue with taste.

Oh man, I remember when Scream first hit theaters! I had just gotten back from a trip to the coast and headed straight to the cinema to catch it. Honestly, I only went because of all the hype surrounding it, but let me tell you, I was genuinely surprised.

I was absolutely certain that the sequel would end up being total garbage, and boy, was I right. As for a third installment? Don't even get me started!

I was wondering, has anyone here actually sat down to watch "Watchers"? You know, the one with that mutant creature and the super intelligent dog? I've been dying to get my hands on it, but I can't find a decent copy anywhere online!

Give me a break.

It’s easily one of the best horror parodiesβ€”one of those postmodernist films that uses self-irony perfectly....
It’s practically my favorite movie from the nineties.

Top-tier filmmaking from the new generation.

I've watched it at least 8 times now.

😒

πŸ™ I bow down to Scream.

I don't think it's even on DVD anymore... yap, I remember loving this thing when I was a kid... though I watched it quite a while back and it was heavy shit! 😒 Well, since you haven't found the flick yet, here's a little something to enjoy in the meantime:

WATCHERS
Rated R
Copyright 1983.
Reviewed A long time ago.

Travis - Corey Haim! American Kid with The biggest hair.
Furface - Genetically engineered golden retriever with super intelligence.
Agent Johnson - Michael Ironsides! Highly trained government agent tasked with capturing Furface and the OXCOM.
Nora and Travis - Travis' mom and um... ...nevermind, leave it at that.
Sheriff Gaines - Barely literate law enforcement, killed by Johnson for nearly learning the truth.
Deputy Porter - Manly woman who believes in Sasquatch, mutilated by the OXCOM.
Hockney - Local handyman who takes care of Nora's appliances, he'd like to service a whole lot more. Unfortunately you can't kiss a girl after something rips your head off.
Cliff - The other government agent, develops a bad case of morals and Johnson shoots him for it.
OXCOM - Genetic freak created by the government, it appears to be a very large and hateful orangutan.

Corey Haim, a dog, Dean Koontz, Michael Ironsides, and a really mean orangutan come charging out of the woods in this gritty little flick. One of these days we're going to get tired of your shit Americans, then it's all over... ...anyway, the film isn't THAT bad actually.

Somewhere a secret government project is underway; a genetic experiment to create the ultimate warriors. Using special dogs as homing beacons, the OXCOMs will kill every human around the pooch. It's the old, "Hi how're you doing, I'm a dog, feed me, pet me, say hello to death in a monkey suit." trick, too bad it wouldn't work in Vietnam. One little problem, the OXCOMs hate the canines for some reason - killing the dogs whenever possible. (Oops!)

The lab is sabotaged by some other government agency and only two of the experimental animals survive, Furface and OXCOM 7. So all of a sudden Corey Haim has a golden retriever in the back of his pickup. He takes the animal home and makes love to it. Okay, okay, that didn't happen, but you still have to admit he shouldn't have been in bed with it like that.

Along with the OXCOM killing people at random there are other problems: agent Johnson and the government. Faced with impossible odds, the young man takes the only avenue of escape open: flee to a wilderness cabin and bust out some serious A-Team stuff. (His dad was in the Special Forces.) Molotov cocktails, motion sensors, a bayonet strapped to his ankle, and this crazy fragmentation device are only a few of the treats. Against his animal cunning, the ultimate biological weapon and trained government killers are no match. Corey saves mom, his girlfriend, and the dog.

How was the monster supposed to defeat armies when one kid with a lever action rifle does the trick? Well, it does nearly kill the inexperienced lad by using an extremely convincing "I'm dead now, turn your back." act.

Dogs are naturally fire resistant.
Genetically engineered monsters have deviated septums.
Dogs love trucks! (Hehehe!)
VHS tapes are highly flammable.
Dogs can't type.
Gorilla monsters hate bicycles.
Deputies are excellent conductors of electricity.
Golden Retrievers just don't have that kind of spring in their step.
Honestly, during those awkward teenage years when everything is changing, a kid really shouldn't be napping naked next to a dog.
It's like Corey Haim is actually MacGyver's secret kid.

2 mins - This one is based on a book and has Roger Corman's name on it, so I’m expecting a total blast.
3 mins - SOMEONE JUST COMMITTED A RANDOM ACT OF VIOLENCE AGAINST A SCALE MODEL!
29 mins - Is this seriously an IQ test for dogs now?
30 mins - Check out those brand new boots that creepy guy in the woods is rocking.
46 mins - Does this monster have a vendetta against teddy bears too? And seriously, if we hadn't actually read the book, how on earth would anyone make sense of that plot twist? Hellooo?
50 mins - For the love of God, stop running and just shoot the damn thing already!
65 mins - This guy is a straight-up freak!
81 mins - RIP, Cliff.
82 mins - Out of all the ridiculous ways this story could have gone...
83 mins - That was quite the manly scream from Corey.

Thanks for the signature! Josh, I’ll definitely add Andrew Wood, but man, I just can't seem to remember him!

I wanted to mention that Universal Pictures has officially signed on with Zack Snyder for a sequel to "Dawn of the Dead." And here is the best part: this isn't just some cheap remake of Romero's "Day of the Dead." Instead, it's going to be titled "Dawn of the Dead 2" and will feature its own completely original story! Isn't that exciting?

Thank goodness we finally get to see Zack Snyder turn the page and start a whole new chapter with zombies! At this rate, "Dawn" might even evolve into a full-blown trilogy!

I wanted to mention that if Universal Pictures actually signs a deal with Snyder for a sequel to Dawn of the Dead, and they want to make it better than the original, it won't just be some remake of Romero's Day of the Dead; instead, it would carry the title Dawn of the Dead 2 and function as its own standalone story...

Honestly, thank God we might see Zack Snyder turning a new page with zombie flicks, which means Dawn could potentially evolve into a full trilogy...

Snyder isn't a true horror director; he tends to take horror premises and turn them into action movies... if he keeps heading down that path with these sequels, things aren't going to look good...πŸ™‚

You're absolutely right, he injected a massive dose of adrenaline into the horror genre! πŸ˜›

We have to keep in mind that some people just love that style. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the originals, but I honestly adore a good remake just as much.

Look, regardless of what anyone says, the movie was incredible! If the sequel turns out even half as good, I'll be more than happy!
