The type 2 diabetes epidemic is NOT caused by drinking Diet Coke🙂

Diet Coke doesn't have any sucrose or other sugars that would spike your blood glucose levels... it definitely isn't making you gain weight.

The whole diabetes crisis is actually tied to obesity—which, let's be real, comes from slamming sodas loaded with actual sugar or high-fructose corn syrup

Sorry about the caps lock, but man, people are just talking total nonsense out there

What’s honestly wild is how on topics like this, it’s always—literally ALWAYS—the same crowd, like driftinggull13, rustymoose54, darkbison81, Rachel Brooks63, and that whole gang, stepping up to try and lecture everyone else... It’s crazy how predictable we all are...

And the result? Well, damn, it’s always the exact same thing...

Rachel Brooks63 said:and the result—honestly, screw it—is always the exact same thing...

the whole mess comes down to the clash between A. cold hard facts and B. pure ideology

A: - whether there’s actual sugar in something or not

B: - oh sure, but they're just saying that—conspiracy theorists, shills, you know the drill...

Seriously, I haven't bothered explaining a single thing here for months now. 😁 I even manage to be polite enough when I'm at the beauty counter, 😵
but I’ve finally adopted a new philosophy: if someone is ignorant and refuses to learn, they deserve to be wrong. 😁 They can deal with the consequences. 😈 I'm done giving away my expertise for free. 🙂
Let the urban legends live, let the myths thrive, and let them drink their Diet Coke. 😎

Never... 🙂

Look, here's my take on this: if someone genuinely believes that drinking Coca-Cola is going to wreck their liver, let them live in their own little world. I honestly can't talk sense into people like that.

So, I rarely even bother trying to argue, but sometimes you just can't stay quiet—like when some guy claims Coca-Cola is made from distilled water, and then argues that since drinking too much distilled water could be dangerous, obviously the soda is toxic too!

That’s exactly why he’s such a good mentor😉

If you want someone to actually learn something new, they have to start by questioning everything they think they already know.

Until they reach that point, there’s really no sense in trying to explain anything to them.

"...it's the phosphorus that makes kids who drink Diet Coke so hyperactive... though honestly, it's not just the kids! "

Is that why there's this whole crowd of people they call "the Coca-Cola lobbyists"? 😁 😁 😁

"For someone to actually learn something new, they first have to doubt everything they think they already know... until then, you're just wasting your breath trying to explain things to them."

👍 👏

Look, what I wrote wasn't just some random nonsense pulled out of thin air, I was actually reading stuff in magazines and online and all that...

Now, maybe someone paid them to lie, who knows, but maybe they didn't...

I mean, have you ever noticed that weird, "pleasant" feeling on your teeth after you drink a Coca-Cola?

Nobody needs to pay you to talk nonsense, honestly, it's a genuine talent of yours—just a massive mess of half-truths, ignorance, and pure cluelessness. You don't have a clue about nutrition, or how the body works, or chemistry, or even how to present facts systematically... That "pleasant" feeling on your teeth is just from the CO2, which is in sparkling water too, and if I recall correctly, you weren't complaining about sparkling water. I don't want to waste anyone else's time, but I really have to address this brilliant line of reasoning where people claim they broke out in rashes and can't wash up after standing around... Try caramelizing sugar until it burns onto a pan and then try cleaning it with bleach, let's see how that goes.
BTW, I know a guy who claimed his junk grew by 30% after drinking 3 liters of Diet Coke, so clearly, Diet Coke increases size. There's your proof, according to your logic.
How much does phosphorus actually cause hyperactivity, versus how much is used as a preservative in Diet Coke? Phosphorus is a fundamental part of the main energy molecule in our bodies (ATP), and it's a component of cell membranes, proteins, bones, and so on... It's a key part of the most important buffer systems in circulation. (Oh, please, don't start talking about buffers, it's just chemistry, and we've always been terrible at understanding chemistry, so don't...) Aaaaah, my bad, we don't need facts from a Coca-Cola shill and wannabe chemist, no, we just need stories about rashes and pulling conclusions from half-baked info we barely understood in the first place. Toss in some anti-American sentiment and you've got the legendary American ignorance right there.
And now this genius wants to lecture me for questioning someone who is nothing but exclusionary in every single post. "It's poison," says the expert, without any data or actual facts, let alone knowing the definition of poison. "It's poison," he says, even though you won't find a toxic substance in Diet Coke in any meaningful amount. "It's poison," he says, while rambling about diabetes without understanding it, and "It's poison," he says, blathering about obesity which has nothing to do with Diet Coke. "It's poison," he claims, despite the fact that literally billions of people worldwide have been drinking it for over 30 years, not just here in the States, and they aren't showing any increase in diseases that could be linked to Diet Coke. Long live American ignorance and stupidity. Keep it up.👍

I am seriously addicted to Diet Coke (or Diet Pepsi, depending on whatever happens to be in the fridge). I stick to the light stuff, obviously, because I have zero interest in gaining weight 😁, but regular Cole or Pepsi? Man, they just taste good. I can’t help it—it hits the spot. Look, I get it. It’s not "healthy." I know I should probably be sipping on sparkling water instead, but honestly, I don't have many other vices. I don't smoke, I don't touch alcohol, and I've cut back on coffee to maybe one or two cups a day since my pregnancy. I don't do drugs, and I try to watch what I eat (well, most of the time). I used to be a runner, always out on my bike, but ever since the kids came along, life just... happened. I haven't had the time, so that's gone. So why shouldn't I drink this "American junk," as my husband calls it, if it makes me happy? He gets such a kick out of lecturing me every single time I grab a few bottles of Diet Coke from the store. 😁 He actually tried to win this argument by telling me some horror story about how he once saw someone successfully dissolve rusty nails in a glass of Cole. 😁

Try leaving a steak or even a tooth in a glass of Diet Coke overnight. You'll see pretty quickly how much this stuff actually "helps" your body and your teeth by morning.
Diet Coke is basically liquid acid.👎

look, if you're dealing with diabetes, "regular" Coca-Cola is definitely going to wreck you way more than Diet Coke 😉

That's a pretty stupid take.

I drink Diet Coke because I've got diabetes, and—funny enough—sometimes I just crave something that isn't sparkling water or black coffee/tea without ice (even though, get this, I actually *have* diabetes)...

Alright, fair enough then.

I guess I'm just curious though... what's actually in the mix in a regular Coke and how does it actually mess with your body?

Black Knights said:Read up on why so-called Diet Coke isn't actually bad for youhere
.

To quote the link provided above:
"There are more carcinogens in grilled steak, raw parsley, or even parsnips than in any of the substances mentioned in this article. So what? Aspartame critics love to scream that the stuff in Diet Coke is hepatotoxic because its breakdown releases methanol. What they conveniently forget to mention is that a person would have to chug somewhere between 200 and 400 liters of Diet Coke ALL AT ONCE just to reach a marginally (not even lethally) toxic level of methanol. Under normal consumption levels, the amounts are steadily oxidized by the liver without any proven harmful effects. As for those three writers over at The New York Times claiming the concept of dosage is outdated—you can save that logic for people who believe in homeopathy; they’re the ones who will actually buy it. And as for 'timing and synergism' involving every imaginable variable—if we panicked over everything that could only be harmful under an extremely specific set of circumstances, I don't think you'd find anything in a grocery store or out in a field that wouldn't trigger some catastrophic scenario."

Black Knights said:More on why Diet Coke is supposedly badhere

If you can't be bothered to read through the whole debate, just take my word for it... honestly, if you're going to drink soda, just stick to regular Coke. Besides, regular Coke actually has some perks too, it isn't just pure poison or whatever...

That's a crappy link, man. You really need to read the thread to the end because you'll see that those three guys are basing everything on wrong data and they're totally misinterpreting what's actually happening. Anyway, we already pretty much agreed that the only thing that's actually an issue is aspartame—since nobody uses cyclamate anymore anyway...
silentorca492, seriously, try leaving a piece of steak in some sparkling water—like Perrier or whatever the hell they call it now—and just watch and learn. Other than that, I think I already explained in my last post (ugh, all this chemistry stuff just to make us look stupid...) everything there is to know about phosphoric acid, and even more so regarding carbonic acid, which basically means when you swallow it, it acts like a BASE for your stomach...
😉 And it doesn't seem to me like people are gagging after they take a sip of Coca-Cola, and even if they do, once that CO2 comes out, there's way less acid involved because of how the balance shifts...

Ughhhhhh, why didn't I pay more attention in high school chemistry class, ughhhhhh, then I wouldn't look like such an idiot right now...🙂 🙂 😁 😉

Honestly, you should just stay away from any version of it—it’s a shame people don't opt for something actually decent to drink instead of this junk.
Whether it's the Diet Coke version that claims to have practically zero calories, or the "regular" stuff which is just as bad but adds a massive load of sugar to the mix...

Will it make you gain weight? Not the diet version, at least according to the label.

Exactly. I honestly don't get how an adult can sit there and drink that crap. 😕 I mean, who actually finds that taste appealing?
