Just kidding, obviously... (maybe?😁)

Look, next time that crazy woman is out in town,
you should have followed her on the MTA!
Keep an eye on her!

Who knows,
maybe you'll actually learn something from it.
😳
😉 🙂

I actually ended up standing before a judge once, all because of an issue with the MTA!
I didn't pay the fine, and before I knew it, I had received a summons to appear in court.
I made sure to dress as pitifully as possible, and the very first thing they asked me about was my financial situation. I told them things were incredibly difficult—that I live entirely on my own since my parents are divorced, that I'm barely scraping by as it is, and I even spun this little story about how I was rushing to catch a train just as the conductor pulled out his badge and wouldn't let me purchase a ticket afterward... I played up the whole "poor student" angle, claiming I was in such a frantic rush for a big exam at the university that I practically handed over my ID just to get moving. In the end, I walked away with nothing more than a warning, and he just left feeling quite satisfied with himself for being so "merciful" to a poor soul like me!
but with people like 😈
it’s really not that much of a big deal; honestly, if you don't pay and you happen to get a summons—which isn't even a guarantee—just show up and play the part! 😉

Eric Wells3 said:So, here is the bottom line—if I am not some massive, intimidating guy, then none of those legal little nuggets you keep tossing around are actually going to do me any good. In fact, if I lack that physical dominance, there is barely anything in this entire society that I can even attempt to utilize, wouldn't you agree? Because at our core, we are nothing more than animals operating under the primitive principle of "might makes right," yet we stubbornly insist we aren't animals because we possess intelligence, and civilization, and culture, and all that other nonsense...😁
Yes, I will admit it; a certain level of bitterness is radiating from my very being.

As I was saying, your only real alternative is to stand there and beg for change from the passengers...

you should be tailing her on the MTA!
just keeping a constant eye on her whereabouts!

Heaven knows,
who knows if some sort of twisted hobby might actually emerge from such behavior.

I happen to ride the MTA alone when I head out... though it isn't as if I wouldn't be looking out for her.😍

I would honestly pay to have that happen to me.
😳 😢

But you're just a pushover, so I guess that doesn't count, right? No way, of course not!
Anyway, looking at the legal advice from Eric Wells3 (who might be an expert, who knows?), I’m seriously considering bringing all my dogs with me next time I board a bus, or maybe just wearing a snake around my neck. We'll see how that goes...
On one hand, it's almost impossible for me to wrap my head around the fact that what Eric Wells3 is saying is truly everything I could possibly do in a situation like that. But then again, I've had enough run-ins with reality to know how the world actually works. 🙄
Basically, one half of my brain keeps insisting that the laws of this world are supposed to follow some kind of logic or sense. It stubbornly maintains that things *must* work that way, even if it can't provide a single actual argument to back it up.
The other half of my brain, however, looks at the facts and judges based on experience, telling me that none of this makes any sense or follows any logic whatsoever. It tells me the only real way to survive is the old-school method: "just trust yourself (and your gut)."😁

Well, you can take that precious little sense of logic and shove it straight up your backside. If that is how you intend to navigate the real world, you aren't going to get very far at all.🙂

Honestly, screw the moderator's gavel and all your supposed intellect and education if you can't even manage to read a single fifteen-line post from start to finish.

The sheer quality of your response serves only to confirm my suspicion that you are operating with only half a brain.😉

I guess this post just goes to show you're probably working with only half a brain.😉

If you actually have something to say to me, maybe just send a private message.😉 Let's not clog up the thread.

I'm done being one.
From here on out, Eric Wells3 is riding with me.
😈

I'll pay him back in beers at some local pub.

Eric Wells3, I need you to clear something up for me. 🙂 It’s about Amtrak.

I show the conductor my pass, he looks at it, and then asks me to hand it over so he can get a better look. Am I actually required to put the ticket in his hand if he asks? 😕 My old man told me I should just ask what the issue is and refuse to hand it over—basically tell him to beat it. Is that even allowed? 😕

The whole thing is incredibly straightforward, yet you people insist on overcomplicating every single detail...

A ticket is your own private property, plain and simple. Naturally, you have every right to tell someone to get lost if they're bothering you about it...
Now, some legalistic types might argue that a ticket isn't strictly private property but rather a contractual agreement with Amtrak.
Even if we go by that logic, you still have the absolute right to tell them to beat it.

Just pay up. It’ll probably balloon to $167 soon enough anyway, and I guess it's easier to cough up 150 now than 500... or more later

If you actually file a formal appeal, they aren't even allowed to tack on those interest charges.😉

Why even overcomplicate this? She was driving without a ticket, couldn't pull it off, handed over her ID, and now she's pretty much done...

Where were you when I actually needed you?👎 🙂

Someone asked about my age. Technically, I’m still a minor for another two and a half months. Honestly, I'll just pay the fine—anything to avoid explaining my whereabouts and who I was hanging out with to my parents. Not cool.😳

P.S. I handed over my ID because I’m clearly naive. It felt like they only wanted proof that we're just some lost group of kids from the Midwest. Whatever, it's done.
