Anyone in Washington, D.C. looking to get a game in?

Heh, you’d have to round up twenty-one players, grab all the gear, and then find a place to actually play when there isn't a single decent turf field left in Washington, D.C....
+ most of them don't even know the rules...

The field isn't the issue... nor is the pitch itself...

And honestly, equipment isn't even an issue at this stage...

It's just finding enough players—I mean, there are plenty of teams out there that would be thrilled if I could just get 21 guys together...

I was watching on CBS this weekend--
They have it on every single weekend...

Look, you don't always have to go full contact and play like you're trying to break someone's ribs, you know? People play flag football all the time out in local parks or even just in a backyard—you’ve got kids, retirees, anyone really just messing around on the weekends.
It’s basically the exact same game, just without all the heavy pads and the constant tackling; instead, you just clip a flag to your waist and the whole goal is to snatch that flag off the other player rather than leveling them into the dirt. It's way easier to get a group together since you don't need a massive roster of guys just to get a game going, and honestly, it's a blast.

Not a bad call if you ask me!

I spent 13 years playing back in Italy, and now that I'm living in Washington, D.C., I wanted to see if there's even an opportunity to play here in the States.

I know there's a club over in Vienna, so why isn't there anything like it in Washington, D.C.?

Finally, people in America are actually talking about NFL. It was about damn time.

I saw my first clips of football when I was just a kid, and I knew right then I wanted in. But growing up here, there were zero opportunities. 😢 I was also pretty confused at first—couldn't tell if it was rugby or maybe Australian rules or something. I used to think the sport was way too brutal, like I was too soft for it or whatever. Too much prejudice kept me away from the game for a long time, until one day I finally decided to check out a practice and someone suggested I try flag football (check this out: http://www.flagfootball.org/
So I did. I went, I watched, I tried it, and I don't regret it for a second. (Rihanna definitely knows what it's like to have a good hobby/outlet).

After two years of flag football, I worked up the nerve to switch to real tackle football. Again, no regrets, even though I'm getting pretty old for this sport.
What I love about football is the whole atmosphere at the stadium; it's just as attractive to the fairer sex, too.
Actually, football is pretty big across Europe and played in plenty of places like: France, Italy, (since '67) Finland, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Germany, Austria, Spain, Canada... so getting gear shouldn't be an issue.
Anyone can play football, regardless of build, weight, gender, or skin color. The most important traits for a solid player are team chemistry, speed, and decisiveness.

If you're still on the fence, it doesn't matter. Just hit up this forum or tell your friends; you won't regret it.

Is there actual tackle football happening here with full gear, specifically like the NFL? I’m asking because me and my buddies used to play every single day after school without any pads at all, and man, the hits were brutal. It goes without saying that scoring touchdowns was a nightmare when you're trying to catch someone sprinting at sub-12 second 100m speeds.

Not yet, but it’s coming.

When it comes to speed, there are people out there faster than you 🙂 ... ...but we didn't manage to catch them because they slipped right past us 😢

Man, if we ever move back to New York City, I’ll definitely send my husband your way to coach you guys. So, what’s the name of your squad anyway? Maybe when we head out for our summer vacation, we'll swing by and catch one of your games. He actually played college ball alongside that one star quarterback—you know the one—haha. These days he’s busy coaching high school kids in our neck of the woods and playing pickup games here and there.
Over in the European Union, there are tons of teams that get sponsored by major US teams, and they’re always sending players over for training camps or tryouts, you know? It’s actually pretty common; sometimes you even see highlights from European leagues being shown right here in the United States.
I honestly think it’s a great sport, and if we had a son, he’d probably be all over it, but since we have a daughter, she’s going to be more into tennis, haha.

Honestly, sports are AWESOME—especially for women.

I’ve gone up against them a few times before (it was tough to swallow!), but I'll tell you this: women play with way more passion than the guys do.

Lawrence Peterson82, man, this whole throwing the ball thing is driving me absolutely crazy. It’s a completely different technique altogether, and my husband just won't get off his butt and actually teach me how to throw with any kind of decent form. I mean, I can get it airborne, sure, but my accuracy is honestly pretty pathetic right now. As for the dinnerware situation, we'll figure that out eventually, I mean, we're all friends here, right? 😁😁 So, what are you guys paying for it anyway? 😉😁 He was a QB, see, and when he really lets it rip, that ball flies like a bullet—dead on target, too. He actually went through some pro tryouts back in the day, but he decided to go the intellectual route instead, haha. So now, it's up to me to be the one chasing down footballs in the backyard during family gatherings. 😎

That’s just how those QBs are—they love acting like they own the place.
They keep their "throwing technique" a secret so nobody else can steal their "job"🙄 or take over their spot on the roster.🙂

Maybe try using a smaller "youth" ball; might be easier for you to handle.

I’ll give you one reply for every touchdown... so if he hits ten, I guess that means a full meal, like his manager getting a grilled sea bass or something like that.😉

Look, the bottom line is you just have to get the ball rolling first, because once there's momentum, people will naturally find their way to join in. There are plenty of clubs scattered all over Canada, Canada, and the surrounding regions ready to go. If they actually manage to build something substantial here, I guarantee you other groups will start trying to jump on the bandwagon too. It’s an incredibly attractive sport, plain and simple.👍
