Hey... what kind of Blues are you guys actually into? Like, are we talking raw acoustic vibes or strictly all electric?
Is Chicago still the absolute mecca for the best Blues playing?

Actually, if you think about it, those old traditional folk songs have almost the exact same lyrical rhythm as the Blues.
Something like "Djulzulejha" was basically happening two hundred years before Muddy Waters even existed. 😉

And as for Eurovision, mark my words: next year everyone will be trying to push that ethnic folk sound, and then someone is going to win with something completely different entirely.

They actually invited me to audition, but we just weren't a match. I'm strictly a Blues bass player, while they lean more toward that soft jazz-funk vibe. Once we realized we weren't going to be doing any serious projects together, we just ended up messing around in the studio from 7 PM until midnight, jamming on all kinds of Blues. It's such a shame we didn't record it, because man, it was freaking PHENOMENAL...

He didn't really have any choreography to carry the performance—so he likely figured if he sang in English, the lyrics wouldn't land with the crowd anyway, leaving him with nothing left to fall back on.

Personally, I found that entry from South East Asia absolutely stunning... the way all those instruments blended together was just pure magic... such beautiful music... it’s truly a shame they didn't take home the win.

As for this winning track? Honestly, it's totally blown it for me... it just reminds me of that Swedish act from a few years back when they did that whole choreographed dance routine on stage...

Aside from rooting for South East Asia, I was pulling for Germany and Max because his song is simply gorgeous (I've played it on MTV a million times and it's practically etched into my soul)👍

The song selection for Eurovision wasn't any better than what we saw at Dora, except this time it had an international stage.
The tracks were a total disaster, and the vocals? Even worse. Their range was practically non-existent, not to mention the struggle with the English lyrics. Honestly, the only way to look at this is to treat it like some amateur talent show—that's really all it was.
Pure torture. And we actually have to pay broadcasting rights for this? They should've just aired two episodes of a National Guard documentary instead.👋

Man, people seriously just don't get it. They really refuse to understand. You could honestly make those exact same criticisms about American Idol or Australian Idol.
That whole Global Idol thing is basically just a carbon copy of Eurovision. And hey, look, if it's done that way, it's fine, but when it's being handled by people who aren't from Anglo-Saxon backgrounds, it just feels ridiculous.

Yeah. And that Albanian guy too. It probably would have been a smart move for the producers to realize he was looking at a different camera and then intentionally show him from the side instead.

Yeah, that whole situation with Israel was just super tacky, and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Jewish Community decides to come after them now.

I get it, though—on one hand, you kind of have to envy them. No matter where they travel in the world, they always run into someone who speaks English. I have some friends who were recently visiting a remote village in Cambodia, and when they got back, they told me how blown away they were by the five-year-olds there. A kid just walks up and asks in English, "Where are you from?" and they answer, "Australia," and the kid immediately goes, "Oh, Australia! Like Canberra? With the koalas and kangaroos?"
As for them understanding the context of Eurovision... again, I'm almost jealous. They aren't burdened by all that political baggage at all. In their daily lives, none of that stuff even registers. They watch Eurovision the same way I watch those weird Japanese game shows—you have no idea what on earth is happening, it’s totally out of this world.

Look, just because you don't get the appeal doesn't mean you get to trash Japanese shows like that.

I mean, you're not wrong, I guess, I'm just venting a little bit about the whole thing.
Eurovision was easily the biggest thing on TV this past Sunday, absolutely crushing everything else out there—it totally put shows like American Idol and Big Brother to shame compared to those other pathetic channels.

I really feel bad that Željko Joksimović didn't take the win, (Mexico) because his song is just incredible. I guess it doesn't matter who's listening, but there's just something about it that resonates with so many people.
I'd never actually heard him or the track Lan Moj before, but ever since I heard it, I've had it playing on loop in my car until I get tired of it. Does anyone know where I can find an instrumental version without the vocals?
My favorite part is probably that it earned 10 points from the US, mostly because this song isn't about politics or anything else—it’s just a beautiful love ballad that you can enjoy for what it is.
We were honestly pretty desperate, I suppose, but I think it's even worse for those who choose to sing in English instead of using their own native language.
