It really offers an incredible value proposition
$217 when you consider the P35 series, especially since we're talking about a high-quality P35 board here.

This link isn't exactly on-topic, but it describes one absolute nightmare of a build—though the rest of it is actually pretty solid info for newbies. I’m looking at some guy who basically threw a massive pile of cash at a rig just to mess it up. There's some interesting hardware mentioned, though. The site is getting a facelift soon, too. Just send people over there so you don't have to waste your breath explaining the basics over and over again...

UPDATE: It’s finally alive! 😁
I honestly have no idea what went wrong initially, but it’s working now.
The only strange thing is that I just can't seem to hit 1100MHz, regardless of how much I tweak the latencies.

I managed to reach 1060MHz CL4 at 2.35V, but when I bumped the latencies up to CL5, I still hit a wall—maxing out at 1080MHz CL5 at 2.45V.

So, does this mean the issue lies with the motherboard or the memory itself? I'm really not sure.
It certainly isn't the processor; I even pushed the voltage up to 1.45V at 3GHz, but that didn't change anything.

And frankly, the motherboard is a bit underwhelming. I was expecting more from an Asus P5B, but it only allows for up to 2.45V for the memory voltage.

1060 MHz CL4 is such an incredible overclock... honestly, for my $50 GB kit, it feels absolutely top-tier. I was wondering though, what does the SPD actually list for the voltage and latency when you're running at 800MHz?

400 MHz 5-5-5-18 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 23-42-3-6-3-3
and the voltage is sitting at 1.8v

Just tell us when exactly it was a nightmare?

Btw, I still think a real review is more than just two or three sentences like: "oh wow, look how pretty the black finish is..."
Whatever, nothing on that link actually helps anyone looking for a real explanation.

By the way, if you ask me, a real review should be a bit more substantial than just two or three sentences describing stuff like, "Oh wow, look at those lovely black colors..."
Honestly, there isn't a single thing on that link provided that actually offers any real clarity to people looking for an actual explanation...

Take a look at this motherboard: 😁

All I'll say is: 13 drives.... that's just insane...

I hope there's enough earplugs to go around... 🙂

I actually stopped reading the review about the Kandalf once I saw the claim that it’s the absolute best case out there and features top-tier liquid cooling😂

Afterward, I noticed he had listed a completely different case—it seems everyone wants to praise their own favorite brand😁

Honestly, that liquid cooling setup is just subpar; the radiator quality is pretty disappointing
You’ll see much more impressive results if you opt for a high-end air cooler instead, like the Thermalright Ultra Extreme...

An EVGA 965P heatpipe paired with two 8800GTX cards in SLI running on it😂😂😂

The motherboard is a Gigabyte and it actually supports CrossFire🤣

I’m looking to sink some cash into my rig soon. Here’s the plan:
ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP motherboard (might push the clocks a bit, though honestly, this board is already overkill)
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 processor (obviously I'll be overclocking this junk to 3.6GHz) paired with BigType vx 😁
PC-8500 RAM, 2 GB, CRUCIAL Ballistix, DDR2 800mhz

I'll post the results once I'm done. 🙂

I'll let you know how it goes. 🙂

I wouldn't go with the BigType vx version; just grab the standard one, as it fits the CPU much better. If you really want manual control over the speed, you should probably just pick up a Zalman fan mate instead.

Well, if I recall correctly, he likely already has those components sitting right there at his house... unless I'm mistaken.😁😁😉

You don't hold a motherboard (or any other component) like that 🙂 ; I still remember back in my first hour of lab class when the professor asked how you're supposed to handle electronic components. Naturally, the answer is => grab them by the edges to avoid any direct contact with the circuitry, because even a tiny touch can fry them instantly. And where on earth is his anti-static wrist strap 😕? ☕

Well, man, you absolutely need Wi-Fi built into the motherboard... life just isn't the same without it, is it?
Generally speaking, Asus boards tend to carry a bit more of a premium compared to other manufacturers.

Aside from that, why would you consider that processor "junk," and why on earth would you want to stress it at 3.6GHz for 24/7 use?

And could you also explain to me how PC-8500 Ballistix is rated at 800MHz?

Check this out... I've got a DFI Blood Iron motherboard and I was just getting ready to start some overclocking... but then, when I jump into the BIOS, all the overclocking settings are totally greyed out and I can't touch anything. I'm stumped... what gives? Could it be a driver issue?? 🤷

Perhaps you might want to try downloading a new BIOS update...

No... you have to have CPU host enabled enabled
