Edward Peterson70 said:Wait, what kind of memory we talking about here? MHz and timings?

The RAM is just some supertalent PC6400 C4, but honestly, that doesn't really matter for what I'm doing right now...

My whole focus was just hunting for that absolute maximum FBI... nothing else matters! I hit a wall at 500MHz, though I have a feeling I could probably squeeze out another 10 or 15MHz if I pushed it just a little bit harder...

So, strictly speaking, the theoretical ceiling for this processor is sitting right around 5100MHz...😁

Thanks 🙂

So, it looks like the processor is a total fraud 😁

I’m going to get this Typhoon ready so I can really push its limits...

My main goal here is to hit 4.3GHz... though if I were using LN2, I could easily breeze right past 5 GHz... but that’s probably a bit too extreme for most people out there...🙂

I figured I had to see for myself what would happen if I pushed things up to a 500MHz FBI 😁
The KingMaxi is giving me a bit of a headache, honestly, but hey, this is just an experiment.

sleep is out of the question until the chaos caused by wiredmarlin5 and steelsailor3 finally burns itself out.😉😛

My goal is to hit 4.3GHz... With Liquid Nitrogen, I could easily push past 5 GHz, but that's a different crowd altogether. 🙂

Liquid Nitrogen

The voltages look a bit strange to me. 🤔

The thermal paste is going to start smoking like tires on a drag strip. 😛

I think I’ll just stick with where I am for now, because honestly, pushing it any further just makes the whole thing more unstable, and there isn't really much point in chasing those extra numbers if I can't actually use them.
By the way, temps are sitting at about 35–38°C at idle and hitting around 45–50°C under load.

Alright, let's keep this momentum going,510MHz FSB we're practically touching that 100%OC mark at this rate.😁

Unfortunately, I can't push past 510MHz 🙂, either Windows just crashes within two minutes or the whole thing refuses to even boot,
but as far as the motherboard goes, I’ve gotta say I'm pretty stoked with it. 👍

steelsailor3 said:Unfortunately, you hit a hard ceiling at 510MHz; anything beyond that results in Windows crashing within two minutes or just failing to boot entirely, 🙂which is frustrating enough,
but regarding the motherboard itself, I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. 👍

🙂🙂 I would go as far as to say that is a solid—no, actually, an excellent—result.

So, here is an attempt at an overclock 🙂

My goal was a full 100% overclock aiming for 3.6GHz (stepping from 9x200 up to 9x400), but I just couldn't get there.
This ASUS board seems to have a real appetite for throwing Blue Screens of Death, and it happens quite frequently.
I actually needed to bump the vcore up to 1.65V just to hit 3.5GHz, but even then, it immediately crashed with a BSOD.

It turns out this P5B isn't exactly top-tier hardware. 😢

CPU-Z & Memory stats

Super Pi results

The FSB wall is sitting right around 400, and I honestly believe the results would be much more impressive if I were using a higher-quality motherboard. 👍

If you really want to see things kick up a notch, try setting the process priority to realtime within your Task Manager... you might just notice a little bit of extra progress there... 🙂

I’ve been playing around a bit with the cooling setup and pushing the clock speeds just to see what happens... managed to hit 3.65GHz at 1.48V, which isn't exactly a bad start, though the temperatures are getting a little too spicy for me to push it any further... 😢

That EasyTune software is actually pretty fun to mess with, too! 🙂

EasyTune is actually pretty decent. 🙂

EasyTune is absolute madness—it’s such a killer program. Honestly, thank God they included an asynchronous mode; being able to crank up the FSB without dragging the memory along for the ride is a total game changer.👍

EDIT: What’s the max FSB?

EDIT 2: How are your voltages looking? Are you getting smooth increments up to 1.6V, or does it just jump straight to 1.8V and 2.0V after that?
