So, I took my 6800gt and bumped it from 400/1100 up to 420/1186, which landed me at a 12440 on 3DMark 🙂

I was really aiming for closer to 12500, but man, these new drivers are a total headache 😠
Looks like I'll have to roll back to the old ones 😢

Andrew Bennett8 said:So, I took my Sapphire NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 and tweaked it, and my 3DMark 03 score jumped from 3800 up to 4500.
Naturally, I had to stick some passive heatsinks onto the video memory to keep things cool.

The only real bottleneck is that 256MB of VRAM because it’s just too slow.

You can probably credit part of that 4500 score to your drivers, too... what version are you running? Catalyst 5.6?

Back when I had that card about 4 or 5 months ago, I managed to hit a max of 4180 at 500/688mhz...

I’m keeping my NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 clocked at 500/600 ( 300 ), even though I pushed it up to 600/700 ( 350 ) and it stayed rock solid...

But honestly, I don't even need that extra juice.🙂

I might’ve mentioned this somewhere already, but hey, I’ll say it again just to be sure...
On my NVIDIA GeForce 6600, I'm pulling in about 10,800 points in 3DMark03.
The clock speeds are sitting at the S&P 500 baseline right now—well, actually, I've got them at 380/875 without even touching the voltage on the card.

Just a couple of hours ago, I managed to overclock my Intel Pentium 4 (2000MHz) up to 2600MHz.
The CPU has been running at 100% load for two hours now on some BOINC-related tasks 😁, and so far, it seems perfectly stable.
So, am I the man now? 😁 😁 😁

Why don't you tell us which software you used to push it that high, and whether you're using any extra cooling?

A program???? 😕
I mean, I did this in the BIOS—did you want me to list the settings too?
I don't have any aftermarket cooling, just the stock AMD's box cooler, a few case fans, and some cheap heatsinks on the RAM sticks...

Seriously, just go into the BIOS. That's where the settings are.
I'm not running any extra cooling here—just the standard AMD's box cooler, a few case fans, and some cheap heatsinks on the RAM...

The AMD 3200 is 2.2GHz, not 2GHz stock.

I guess that's not the case then. 😉

Does anyone happen to know how I can unlock the multipliers on my motherboard? My BIOS is totally locked down, so I can't even get into the settings. I've been hunting around the board for jumpers, but I haven't found anything yet.

The board is an original Intel 865PE. Those damn Intel boards always lock everything up.😠

...back in the day, I had this old Celeron 566MHz rig. I actually managed to overclock it up to 952MHz without even needing any real cooling—it would run at 850MHz just fine with nothing but a passive heatsink. Those processors were really something else.😁

I had the same issue with my Gigabyte 865PE; you just have to bump up the FSB instead.

That’s actually where I’m stuck. Even that part is locked for me.😠

Honestly, who can you even blame when you’re stuck using Intel's motherboard?😉

I guess... I'm not sure what my next move is since I don't have the extra cash for a new board right now. I've been scouring the web to see if anyone else has messed around with this specific model, but I'm coming up empty. That's why I'm reaching out to see if any of you guys know anything about it.

That's why I'm asking you guys—does anyone actually know anything about it?

From everything I've heard, Intel's motherboards are basically locked down and can't be overclocked at all. 😉

Specs:

CPU: Pentium II Deschutes 400 MHz
MBO: ASUS P2B 1.10 BIOS 1014 (a beta from back in 2002)
RAM: SDRAM 320 PC100 (2x128 + 1x64)
GPU: Riva TNT2 32 MB with a passive heatsink

Since the multiplier is locked at the CPU level—and the motherboard doesn't let me tweak the voltage—I've just been pushing it by bumping the FSB. It’s been running at 412 MHz (4x103) for a few months now. Today I pushed it to 448 MHz (4x112), and so far, so good. I'll probably run some more thorough tests tomorrow.

I tried hitting 532 MHz (4x133), but my 128 MB sticks just wouldn't cooperate. The 64 MB one seems fine, though. Maybe I could try some PC133 or even PC100 with 6-7ns latency, but I don't really want to waste money on that. 448 MHz feels pretty decent enough. 🙂

The only issue was the graphics card getting way too hot—couldn't even touch the heatsink. So, I ended up taping an old tiny fan from a magneto-optical drive onto it, and now it's ice cold. Only downside is that little thing hums and whirs quite a bit.
