Alright, I get it now—that cooler can definitely handle it.

By my math, your CPU puts out about 69W of heat before overclocking, and jumps to around 110W after. Honestly, that shouldn't be an issue for a Zalman setup.

Zalman is worth every damn cent—that blue glow alone makes it a win. What else do you need?

I just managed to overclock my 2.4 GHz Pentium to 2.993 MHz in just a few quick steps

😕 I have a question for the experts here.
Is it even possible to overclock this integrated graphics card (64MB VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP)?
The setup is an ASRock P4VM800 motherboard with a 2.4GHz Pentium processor on a 533 FSB,
paired with two 400MHz PC 3200 SuperRAM Kingmax modules.
It’s running on a 40GB HDD.
The motherboard itself is brand new, but the rest of the hardware comes from an old rig where both the power supply and the motherboard fried.
I realize none of this is high-end gear, but if there is any potential for overclocking, I would like to try...

How much can I overclock an integrated VGA (that 64MB VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP)

I know this setup is absolute bottom-of-the-barrel junk, but if there's even a tiny chance to OC, I want to try.

Forget it...
Maybe you could squeeze something out of a Pentium (if the board even supports it), but honestly, you wouldn't gain anything even if you pushed it to 3.0GHz...

The issue isn't with the Pentium, but rather the integrated graphics card, so if anyone possesses any insight, please share it. I am asking nicely once more.

It's all right there above, man. Read the damn post.

Just picked up a new rig. Running a Ryzen dual-core at 2.6GHz on a DFI board with Ocz memory. Why the hell is the memory controller performance tanking so hard on dual-core setups? I'm seeing memory reads at 4800 MB, writes at 2500 MB, and latency sitting at 50ns. My old 3500+ setup—which I also overclocked to 2.6GHz—was hitting 6000MB on my Seagate sticks. I need an EXPLANATION.

I feel compelled to share a little victory regarding my recent overclocking session! I managed to push my Ryzen from 2000 MHz all the way up to 2600 MHz—quite a leap—alongside some Micron memory that was running at 200 MHz (DDR400) with timings of 3.0-3-3-8 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS), which I’ve now tightened down to 200 MHz (DDR400) at 2-3-2-5. You can find the full breakdown of the specs and the empirical evidence in the image below.🙂

So, I’ve got this old Pentium III 450MHz (I know, I know👎). I just pushed the overclock up to 600MHz, but now I'm running into a wall. Every time I try to encode an MP3, the encoder crashes instantly—it doesn't matter if I'm using Nero, AudioGrabber, EAC, or CDEX. It always gives me an "encoder error" or just straight-up crashes macOS (the system doesn't reboot, it just crashes back to the desktop). Why is this happening? I'm thinking about bumping it up to 675MHz by moving the FSB from 133 to 150, but whenever I try to push past 133 (like hitting 140), everything falls apart. I either get a Blue Screen or the whole thing dies right after booting. Anyone have a solution?😕

Can that Micron RAM of yours really not handle a higher frequency? Seriously? My DT-D43 runs at 260MHz (2.5-3-3-8) without breaking a sweat.😉

I was thinking about pushing my 2.93 GHz Pentium up to 3600... how far can I actually go before everything just goes up in smoke?

Depends on how hot you're running...

The temperature usually sits right around 108-110 degrees F, but when I'm transcoding movies, it jumps up to about 135-137 degrees F—even with regular dust vacuuming keeping things clean.

Look, it’s not totally insane, but you really ought to underclock things a bit or upgrade your cooling setup to keep that peak around 122 F.
Don't forget, summer is coming, so those temps are only gonna climb higher.🙂

I've got my Ryzen pushed to 2.8GHz
and even during heavy rendering or gaming, the CPU stays under 100°F. Running a Zalman CNPS9500😘 at low speeds—about 1300 RPM

Mission accomplished, if you ask me👍 👍

I'm not even talking about overclocking here; this is a full-on soft mod, and honestly, the results are nothing short of impressive. I managed to take my new Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX from its standard 8 pipe / 4 vertex configuration up to 16 pipe / 6 vertex, and remarkably, there isn't a single artifact in sight.🙏

My baseline Equity scores in 3DMark03 were hovering around 6200, but after the mod, they've jumped to 8400.🙏 😎
The jump in FPSov is just massive—we're looking at a 50-100% increase.😲
It feels like I've suddenly upgraded to a 6800 Ultra!😁

I guess my luck finally turned around. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm heading off to play Oblivion...🤣

My girlfriend is honestly something else when it comes to being cold—she’s perpetually freezing. Meanwhile, I’ve got it feeling like mid-July in my apartment all year round.

I’m looking for some advice on which graphics card to pick for a new build I'm putting together. Most of the info I find online feels a bit scattered:

- radeon x1600 xt
- radeon x800 gto
- Nvidia 6600
- Nvidia 6800 GS

Also, what are your thoughts on this CPU: Intel Pentium D 805 2.66 GHz?
- 2 x 1 MB cache
- Socket LGA 775
- BUS 533 MHz
- Prescott core
- EM64T
- Dual core intel d 805
I'm currently using an AMD Athlon 2600+, which I've been extremely happy with. I was originally considering an AMD Athlon 64, but this processor caught my eye because the price is quite low, around $367

The graphics cards are all solid choices; if you’re chasing raw speed, go with the Nvidia 6800 GS, but if you want better image quality, the X1600XT is the way to go.
As for Intel, I'm a bit undecided, though personally, I'd probably lean toward an Athlon.
