Why on earth don't I have those kinds of issues?😛
Anyway, we ended up buying a scale. I just feel like I need to stay on top of things. 😵 [/B] 😛
You really don't, though. That whole "need for control" thing is mostly for us curvy types.😁 You've already got everything you need.👋

😲 😁
when Tija reads this, man... damn, we really were living the dream, weren't we?😁

Look, I'm big enough that it doesn't even show...
P.S.: Just to be clear, I’m not looking for any sympathy here...🙂
Lisa Moore61, the issue is that I actually have too much. 😢
But I'm not giving up!😈 I was on the move all day today, went out with my friends and didn't even smoke (even though all three of them were), plus I haven't eaten a single thing since 7 PM. 🙂 🙂

You can definitely lose weight from walking, just don't call it a stroll.
Try power walking through some hilly terrain—think places like the rolling hills of Napa Valley or the trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
I used to walk around my neighborhood near the foothills, and I was dropping about two pounds a week.
I wasn't eating much, though.
If you manage to lose four pounds a week while eating normally, then you’ve found a true miracle.
Right now, I'm actually heading out for a game of squash, and I'll probably hit the gym afterward for some elliptical, running, or rowing work.
I watch what I eat and all that jazz.
I can really feel it in how my clothes fit, plus I have way more energy.

Checking this thread—bam, 25 replies out of nowhere. It was dead quiet at first, then suddenly poof—25. Cool. 😎
Anyway, I’ve noticed Lisa Moore61 is basically vibrating on my exact frequency, and maybe a few others too.
Look, I didn't start this thread so people could lecture me on what I "should" be doing. There are plenty of magazines and websites covering this stuff, and honestly, I know my stuff. It’s not an information problem. It’s an action problem.
I get that some of you think what I'm doing is tiny. But if you actually knew me, you'd realize that for someone like me, it's HUGE. For months, I was surviving on nothing but junk food, sweets, and gallons of coffee every single day. My doctor actually told me he tells other people to quit caffeine entirely, but for me, he’s okay with two cups a day. Just to give you an idea. 😁
Thanks for the input, everyone, but I’m really looking for the folks on TikTok who are going to share actual specifics and talk about their real progress. The "experts" can go find another forum; this space is for us mere mortals struggling with whether we drink two cups of coffee or two liters. Or whether we actually take that 20-minute walk or just sit there. Don't get mad at me, just realize we aren't on the same wavelength. I'm looking for people in the same boat.
To everyone else, thanks and props to you—bravo! Maybe one day we'll be able to keep up with your level of discussion. But right now, we're three steps behind you... so please, slow down. X👋

Iggy, someone please tell me I’m not the only one dealing with a Victoria's Secret size 🙂 Honestly, that's exactly why I don't run—it’s just too much weight to deal with. Feels like my spine would just give up. I’d much rather ride a bike. Actually, scratch that—I *did* ride a bike! It was awesome 😁
The fallout from that phase is that my lower half (glutes, hips, legs) totally leaned out, while my upper body—which wasn't even that big to begin with—stayed huge. The proportions are just... visually jarring.
I’m hoping I can figure out a way to slim down overall, especially up top. My only real fear is the loose skin situation. But hey, we can save the heavy stuff for when things get serious with the weight loss.
Iggy, I've heard about how fat cells basically migrate around the body. Like, some people lose it in their butt and gain it in their chest, or vice versa. Seems like that happened to you too, where everything moved from your chest down to your hips. Is that just what happens as you get older?

What have I actually done?
- Two days without touching any sweets (hell yeah)
- Eating at least one fruit or veggie every single day (score)
Apples, tomatoes, pickles (pickles have sugar so technically I shouldn't, but I had nothing else fresh lying around)
- Did a solid thirty-minute walk yesterday (mostly by accident—missed my stop heading to the General Electric office, then realized hey, I actually said I’d walk more, so I just kept going)
- Only eating whole grain bread, zero white bread
Maybe I can talk myself into another 20 minutes today. I’ve been trying to psych myself up all day. Hoping I actually pull it off by tonight.
I've noticed if I eat the second I walk through the door after work, I overdo it. I need to sit down, chill out, do something else first, and wait at least half an hour before eating. Just to decompress. Yesterday, I basically face-planted into the kitchen table and ate way too much.
Promised myself I'll hit the Farmer's Market early tomorrow to stock up on fresh produce for the week, instead of grabbing whatever random stuff from Safeway that might be frozen. And no more pickles. Honestly, even frozen stuff beats pickled junk.

My weight loss journey, if anyone is actually interested:
I’ve been cycling through diets for ten years now 😉 , fluctuating between being 10 pounds down and 15 pounds up. Since I’m hitting my 40th birthday this year, I finally decided to get my act together and fix my appearance, at least to a reasonable degree.
Between January 11th and today, March 26th, I have lost about 18 pounds.
I can barely believe it myself. How on earth did this actually work?
1. A massive, overwhelming desire to look in a mirror without feeling physically faint.
2. An intense, desperate need to stop hunting for XXXL sizes and walking around looking like a sack of potatoes.
That was the motivation.
What exactly am I doing?
1. I cut out bread entirely. Occasionally, I might have a piece of dry toast if things get truly unbearable.
2. I eliminated sugar, except for what occurs naturally in fruit. I use Stevia in my coffee and my lemonade. Sometimes I opt for Diet Coke, though it makes me feel lightheaded for some reason—I haven't the slightest clue why.
3. For the most part, I stick to water. I might have a small glass of milk once or twice a week, but only as a replacement for dinner.
4. I try to separate my carbohydrates from my proteins. When I eat meat, I pair it with green salads; when I have potatoes, rice, or pasta, I follow that logic.
5. I avoid fats.
6. I eat whatever fits on a single plate in one sitting. I’ve had to completely abandon the habit of going back for seconds.
7. I wouldn't call myself an athlete, but since I don't drive much, I end up walking quite a bit out of necessity. I haven't added any specific exercise routines because, frankly, I’m too lazy for that.
8. I indulge occasionally—a square of chocolate or a tiny cookie—but I treat that as my entire meal and nothing else.
9. I attempt to stay within the 1,000 to 1,500 calorie range.
10. Every couple of weeks, I buy myself something nice to wear. Nothing extravagant, just enough to reward myself and refresh my wardrobe.
11. My confidence is growing, and the more weight I lose, the easier it becomes to stick to the diet.
12. My ultimate goal is to return to my pre-pregnancy weight of 147 pounds. I still have about 15 pounds to go. I feel light, energetic, and find myself wanting to move around more.
There you have it. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask.
I have a little trick: when hunger hits, I browse through food photography in cookbooks. That helps. Or I’ll take a hot bath, and the craving usually passes.
What makes losing weight easier for you? What are your tricks for managing hunger pangs?
Oh, one more thing. The more weight I lose, the higher my libido becomes, which has left my husband somewhat suspicious; he’s worried I might have some "hidden" motive. One never knows. 😉Maybe I do.

Kudos to you....
My husband and I are both on this diet grind... we’re cheering each other on, but yeah, we call each other out too... I actually set some ground rules for myself because I know I didn't just wake up one day looking like this, it was a slow build, so it’s gotta be a slow burn to lose it...
Here’s my playbook:
- I make sure to eat my carbs and proteins separately from anything else;
- I get off the subway a stop early every single day so I'm forced to power walk for at least 15 minutes;
- No elevators for me;
- Hitting the gym twice a week;
- On days I don't go to the gym, I hop on my stationary bike for at least 20 minutes;
- Trying my best to dodge sweets and chocolate, though I'll treat myself to a pastry every once in a while...
- And most importantly, fruit for breakfast, then nothing until lunch...
So yeah, that's basically the whole routine right now, and honestly, I can already see it working, which is a huge relief.

you guys are absolutely ruining me!
I was lurking around the forum for a bit and honestly, I decided I could definitely use to drop a few pounds. So, I started watching what I eat, and for exercise, I picked rollerblading—I’ve always thought it looked so cool, so I figured, why not?
I grabbed some skates and told myself, "Okay, let's just cruise around the neighborhood today and see if I actually have any talent." Turns out, I don't. 😁
I started off pretty cautious, but after about 20 minutes I felt brave enough to tackle this hill, thinking, "Yeah, I got this!" (The hill was actually kind of intense, maybe a -2% grade 😁 ) and then—zooooooom—right near the bottom, pure panic set in. Like, oh my god, what am I gonna do?! (I was probably hitting like 3 mph, nothing sensational, but I couldn't exactly stop, so panic mode engaged) and I ended up just throwing myself into the grass, basically pulling a move like James Bond getting tossed by an explosion...
green hands, muddy pants, and the entire park laughing their heads off at me 🙂)
Whatever, I'm heading back out this afternoon!
Summer is coming, gotta lose those extra layers

Killing it, Taylor Swift! Seriously, props to you!
You ever feel like everything before this was just talk? Like, "Yeah, I'll do it," but nothing actually happened? It wasn't a real move until you finally pulled the trigger. Right?
In my book, success boils down to two things:
1. MAKING THE CALL
2. Being organized—like, actually keeping decent food in the fridge instead of just cheap booze.
Oh, and one more: dodging traps. I mean all those lunches, parties, and whatever else where everyone just eats junk. When I hit the movies, I decide ahead of time: no popcorn, no Coca-Cola. It feels a little awkward sometimes, like I’m being a cheapskate because everyone else is snacking and I’m just sitting there. But honestly? It’s my call. I don't care what anyone thinks or how they judge me. My friends get it, but I had to get it myself first.
Also, I started chugging water. How? Simple. I put a half-liter bottle right on my desk so I can't ignore it. If I didn't, I'd probably only drink one glass all day. That was trashed. Now I'm constantly sipping, and it actually keeps me from feeling hungry. Sounds stupid, I know—but try it, it actually works!!!
p.s.
Looking at food pics would literally kill me. For me, that's a huge trigger, not a help. We're all wired differently, I guess.

Hey, if your husband is dieting too, is that actually helpful or just extra baggage? Like, who’s dragging who along here? 🙂
Honestly, the main thing for me was just making the call in my own head. I'm done arguing about it with anyone. I realized this isn't some temporary fad; it's a total lifestyle shift.
I haven't gone full extremist yet. I haven't touched any junk food or sweets since Wednesday, which feels like a massive win to me. Sure, things will get even better once I switch to strictly clean eating, but god... there's one thing I just can't quit: coffee. Anyone got tips for that?
Milk is actually pretty calorie-heavy if you think about it. One deciliter is about 60 calories, so a whole liter is 600. And for me, a liter of milk is basically nothing. Especially when you factor everything else in...
How are you guys prepping veggies? Any good combos? I've been doing green salad—gotta have balsamic vinaigrette or else I'm just eating grass—with bits of chicken or cheese. But never both at once, otherwise it's way too many calories and the flavors clash, so it doesn't even taste that great.
silentpuma25, how old are you? I've never tried rolling, but I really want to... I'm worried I might be too old... is that just a stupid excuse?

Taylor Swift (ugh, what's with the handle 😁
how do you even figure that, you got some massive ego or something?
Is it just because you’re constantly flirting with your own reflection? 🙂 I need some of that energy too 🙂

If Rebecca Baker52 was implying an increased need for movement, then the answer is this:
I feel lighter, actually. It’s quite the departure from that sluggishness I used to deal with; before, I’d finish up at work, sit down for lunch, and then immediately feel hit by this overwhelming wave of exhaustion.
Lately, I’ve felt this sudden, driving urge to just get out and walk. It isn't that my muscles are demanding some intense, grueling gymnastics routine—that certainly isn't my style—but rather there is this subtle, persistent pull toward movement. There is a specific sensation I find myself chasing: that lightness, that feeling of weightlessness, as if I might actually take flight. Once you experience that sense of soaring, it becomes quite difficult to resist.
It’s tied to a shift in my mindset, really. I want to actually live more intensely—to feel things, to truly breathe in the scents of spring. I want to establish a genuine connection with my own body, something I’ve spent far too many years viewing as nothing more than something unattractive and heavy.
Losing those 15 or 20 pounds hasn't just shifted my physical frame; it’s fundamentally altered my mental state as well. I can't quite determine which came first—the psychological shift or the physiological change. It all started as a simple thought, though.🙂 First comes the decision, then follows the action. That’s the basic sequence, I suppose.
Ugh, I really went down a rabbit hole there. Lost in thought.

I don't know what you're trying to say with just "B]", but if you've got something to vent about or a question that needs an answer, just spit it out... I haven't got all day.
Man, I gotta admit, he’s got way more character... 😁 I haven't hit the pavement on my bike for two days and now I'm getting all this grief... but once I get my act together (give me a day or two!), I'll be right back at it... and honestly, his constant nagging actually keeps me moving... plus, he’s already dropped twice as much weight as I have... total alpha move, no doubt... though it does make me wonder if he's gonna ditch me soon for two younger, skinnier girls...🙂 🙏 😁
