Hands down the best musical ever made—it’s my go-to whenever I need a rewatch... the soundtrack is flawless, the story hits just right, and the acting? Spot on.
It's such a bummer that John Belushi is gone—honestly, even the newer stuff would have been a total win if he were still around. It’s a shame... I mean, the sequel wasn't terrible, but it just doesn't touch the original.

It’s a shame this thread is staying so quiet. I haven't actually sat down to watch the 2000 version, but honestly, the original was pretty rough. That movie actually set a massive record back in the day for the number of cars totaled in a single production. The cast is straight out of Saturday Night Live, and those sketches they did throughout the 80s and early 90s? Absolutely legendary.
John Belushi is a total icon, and it really is a tragedy he passed away so young. Personally, I think "1941" is his absolute best work.

I honestly never understood the hype surrounding this movie. To me, it’s just... meh. A total snooze fest. I’ve actually tried sitting through it a few times, but I could never quite make it to the credits.
I’m not really an action movie person—they usually bore me to tears, so I tend to steer clear—but this one? It basically boils down to smashing cars. The fact that people point to the number of wrecked vehicles as the film's greatest achievement pretty much says everything you need to know about how shallow it is.

Look, I know I'm biased. Most action flicks (maybe two or three are decent, if you count them) are pretty mindless... but I truly don't get why *this* specific one is held in such high regard or why it became some kind of cult classic.

I know I’m probably being biased since I think most action movies (well, maybe two or three are okay) are dumb, but I truly don't get why this specific one is so highly regarded or achieved cult status.

Maybe it’s because it isn't your run-of-the-mill action movie, but more of a mix of action, comedy, and a musical. And it’s actually a successful blend.

Besides, BB showed up right when that style of music was starting to fade out, helping to bring it back to the top and reminding Americans about some absolute classics.

We could argue about the acting all day, but you have to give credit where it's due regarding the soundtrack. More importantly, it features the best car chase I’ve ever seen—dozens of cops in pursuit and not a single one of them knows how to drive a 🙂.

I remember when the Blues Brothers were playing at a theater in San Diego back in the early 90s, though I have no clue why they were even there. They probably didn't have enough actual posters, so they just photocopied them—black and white copies, for crying out loud—and slapped those up on the cinema boards.

Anyway, the poster claimed the Blues Brothers were "the most explosive duo since nitro and glycerin."

Pure gold.

Such an incredible movie... I immediately went looking for a torrent to download some blues tracks...😁...even though my collection is already massive, this film just hits me every single time and makes me want to hunt for more. There are moments where I honestly wish I could have lived through that era; the blues just gets under your skin and stays there. everybody need somebody 2 loooove😍

The music was fantastic, but I found the movie itself to be pretty mindless. 🤷

The Blues Brothers is easily one of my all-time favorites...🙏 🙏
The soundtrack is pure gold, and the plot? It's absolute comedy perfection.......

I don't see what the big deal is with that movie... just a total three out of ten☕

I actually thought the sequel was great.
It definitely wanders away from the original premise at times, but then you get hit with those weird, bizarre moments that are just so uniquely Blues Brothers.
Honestly, you just have to go with the flow.

I caught it yesterday, and honestly, the movie is just fantastic.
That whole bit about her being so incredibly tough—like when she literally hoisted that entire hotel up into the air while they were just casually worrying about being late for work...
And don't even get me started on this part: (that "Everybody Needs Somebody" scene)

I finally grabbed a copy myself, right after it hit the shelves at Best Buy.
It’s pretty cool how they translated everything, even the lyrics. (Not like I really need them or anything...)

But honestly? The sequel is total garbage compared to the original.
