Will Sebastian Vettel extend his lead in the standings if he gets penalized? Now that's an interesting thought.

Do the math.🤣

Here’s who we’re looking at:
Kimi, Vettel, Button (I think Button too, if I recall correctly...)

We all know how this goes—a 25-second penalty. Just great.
Updated standings after the penalty:
Alonso.
Hamilton + 12.3
Kimi + 35.1.
Vettel plus 37.5.
Massa was 40.8 seconds off. Just saying.
Button plus 60.2. Honestly, I have no clue who else would even be getting penalized in the points standings.

Overall standings:
Sebastian Vettel 52
02 Kimi Räikkönen 46
Fernando Alonso, 43.
43 | Lewis Hamilton
05 Felipe Massa 32

🤣
It’s incredibly stupid, but honestly, it would be hilarious if Sebastian Vettel just got them all penalized.🤣
Even if they don't penalize Button, he’d still pull ahead by a single point over Kimi—who's sitting in second in the standings. Whether you like that or not is your business.😁)

I'm pretty sure both Red Bull cars—and Daniel Ricciardo too—are under investigation. What kind of decision are they going to make behind closed doors now?! 🙂

Felipe Massa is doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing at Ferrari. Just follow orders, boss says! Sit, Buba, sit... good dog! Woof-woof!!! 😁

And that’s exactly what you’re aiming for.
The gap wouldn't have changed anyway, but Massa would've walked away with two extra points. 😁

I just realized—somehow, Massa actually managed to scrape together 30 points. 😱

A solid race to kick off the day 😁

Kudos to Fernando Alonso and Ferrari for a performance like that. It’s become clear that when Alonso sees a window for victory, he rarely lets it slip through his fingers. Phenomenal driving, impressive race pace, and his tire management was spot on. Truly an elite performance. 🙏 🙏

As for Kimi—look, I know I’m biased—but man, hats off to him. That poor start definitely wasn't his fault, and he spent the entire race fighting through traffic while wrestling a car with a visibly damaged front wing and a busted nose cone. 🙏
If they keep this up, and if Lotus shows up to Bahrain with the same form they had last year, we might actually have something to talk about. 👋

Hamilton squeezed every bit of potential out of that car. It was obvious he didn't have the raw pace to challenge Alonso for the win, but all things considered, it's a great result for both him and Mercedes. 👍

Looking at the rest: Daniel Ricciardo drove a beautiful race, Hulk held his own quite nicely, Jenson Button was solid, and Sebastian Vettel also put in a good shift. Personally, I think if Vettel hadn't pitted a lap earlier, he might have been sniffing around for second place, but even this is more than a decent showing.

Webber... well, everything that could go wrong this weekend went wrong. Honestly, I felt for him when that wheel came off (though it would’ve been much more entertaining if Vettelko had picked it up instead 😬).
He needs a massive result in Bahrain to get his head back in the game; a win would certainly do him some good. 😁

And finally, I really hope we don't see any of those ridiculous post-race penalties. It would be a total shame if they decided to mess with the final standings.

Don't forget—he tore through the competition on that track. Some of them more than once. 😂

Honestly, I’m still rubbing my eyes in disbelief. 😁
Massa. 🙏

Not to mention that Ferrari’s pit wall clearly blew his race today.

Kimi lost his shot at the win because of that mess at the start, but honestly, he still did alright. Lewis Hamilton really squeezed everything out of that car. Massa was just his usual disappointing self, and man, Romain really let me down... he actually managed to clear Nico Rosberg and looked like he might snag a top four finish, but then the pit stops happened and he just vanished. I definitely need to go back and watch the replay...

Let’s bring some perspective to this discussion. By my own standards, Ferrari managed to preserve their tires quite effectively. As the legend Fernando Alonso once noted: "but I'm not squeezing them." Vettel, Kimi Räikkönen, and Lewis Hamilton all extracted the absolute maximum from both their cars and the unfolding circumstances. Meanwhile, Massa suffered simply because he had to sit there for an entire lap waiting for Alonso to pit; otherwise, his performance was equally impressive. Then there is the matter of Toro Rosso and Red Bull—one can only wonder what they did to Mark Webber. I won't speculate on whether any of this was intentional. Frankly, I don't care, because if they are intentionally sabotaging themselves just to secure a constructors' title, so be it. I am also quite pleasantly surprised by the fact that we cannot pin any involvement on Lewis Hamilton regarding the various "racing incidents" that, of course, took place. As for the DRS penalty, I find it hard to justify; why disable it under yellow flags on a straightway that is arguably questionable? If things were truly dangerous, they could have disabled it entirely. Furthermore, post-race penalties only make sense if they affect the grid for the next race rather than being applied to time penalties; time adjustments can be manipulated so that nobody actually suffers. In that regard, grid penalties in Bahrain would smell suspiciously like Bernie Ecclestone meddling to manufacture a specific outcome.

Fair enough, he actually started waking up during the second half of last season.

But over these last three races, Massa has been consistently overlooked. Nobody seems to notice him; he's just drifting in the background while the team works, yet he keeps picking up points quite steadily.
Fourth, fifth, and sixth place—all despite being clearly playing second fiddle to Fernando Alonso when it comes to tactical decisions and race execution.

Plus, with those great internal relationships over at Red Bull, isn't it a bit early to predict that Ferrari might actually be the frontrunner for the constructors' title?

Yeah, it looks like the F138 is just built that way. 😁

I think Mercedes pulled their first pit stops in the same lap! But Ferrari is a whole different story...

Who else ended up getting penalized in Bahrain?

Fair point.
And they nailed them, too. 🙏

I honestly thought it would be a total failure, but then they caught me off guard. 🙏

Word is there were no penalties for using DRS under the yellow flags.
So—Gutierrez gets a 5-place penalty.
And naturally, Webber gets 3. 😁

Massa. 🙏

Not to mention that Ferrari’s pit wall clearly blew his race today.

Back in the distant days of 2008, when Fernando returned from that disastrous McLaren adventure, during that first race in Australia driving for Renault—I think Blaž said Alonso smelled blood, that he was just flying around the track looking for someone to hunt down...
Ever since then, whenever Alonso enters that specific hunting mode, that phrase just sticks in my head. That’s exactly what we saw today. He saw the path to victory, decided it was his, and simply went out and took it. It doesn't matter if the car is good or bad; he focuses on one thing and one thing only: winning.

We'll have to see how this unfolds for the rest of the season. It's far too early for any real predictions, but an Alonso like this—backed by decent team support and actual competent tactics—is a top-tier contender.

Regarding Romain, I wouldn't be quite so harsh. He's been scoring points in every single one of the first three races, and he hasn't been involved in any incidents. If he just keeps doing that, he's fine. Kimi's current form might make it look like Romain isn't hitting his full potential, but you can expect him to finally find his rhythm with the car and break into the top five eventually.
Besides, he was constantly getting stuck in traffic today, caught between cars on different strategies with zero clean air in front of him.
The guy has raw speed; he just needs to wait for the pieces to fall into place. Until then, consistently picking up points isn't a bad way to live. 😉

Only three?😬
Maybe if he hadn't been taken out, the guy might have actually scored some points.

Given Hamilton's pole position and that third-place finish, I’m expecting a pretty "cheerful" piece from Jergović's pen. 😁

These guys just chew through tires and fall behind... Lotus can't stay consistent so they drop off... McLaren is basically in a tailspin right now, so they're out... Everyone hates on Red Bull, so they automatically lose out to something bigger... the rest are just too much for Lazari to handle, so they're gone... Honestly, Ferrari is the only one with a real fighting chance at winning in Vietnam 🤣

I mean, seriously, what have they even been doing for the last four years then? 🤣>

Hmm, I honestly can't say if he'll bother dissecting Alonso's girlfriend and their dynamic this time around, much like how he previously tore apart Hamilton's relationship with his lady love. 🤷
