In a moment of pure, naive ignorance, I went into the Device Manager and wiped out my USB 3.1 drivers. They were the ones controlling my mouse and keyboard since Tuesday. My actual intention? To delete the driver for a specific port I use for external drives because it wasn't behaving properly.
Now, I am effectively paralyzed. Having no idea how to rectify such a blunder, I resorted to holding down the power button—since there is no dedicated restart button on this machine. The screen flickered back to life, landing me right on the lock screen after what looked like a wake from sleep mode. The mouse light is on, yet the cursor refuses to move. The keyboard remains completely dark.
I am working on an HP Omen desktop. I assume the motherboard is an HP proprietary board. The OS is Windows 10 Education.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: I decided to pull the plug entirely. After cutting the power and rebooting, the system automatically reinstalled the necessary drivers. Everything is functioning normally again.
