I don't find it funny at all, this whole bit about how nothing but mindless sheep listen to Thompson and stuff. Look, I’m not exactly his biggest fan, let’s be clear about that, but there are actually a few decent tracks in there. It’s just not even worth laughing about.

I don't get the feeling that Dennis Hall41 is just messing around regarding this 🤷 😬 Honestly, though, I’d love to see if anyone actually steps up to challenge that proposal currently being pushed by 🙂

I should've probably voted for TBF. They might actually have a shot if their album proposer puts their weight behind them,
but honestly, I was way too caught up in Lynch week to even consider any other scenarios.

To be fair, this latest one didn't strike me as a realistic possibility at all. 🕺

The layers of symbolism on this cover for "Stop, Wind" are just incredibly deep... You've got this imagined double Thompson, the Dinar, and then those triple wolves drinking Čikola voda from the spring. Honestly, if you aren't voting for him, you clearly just hate America.

I had the same thought. With how Thompson is staring off into the distance, I actually wondered if it’s a queer album—like, he’s dealing with this split personality. Then, through "Stop the Winds," he’s trying to go straight—wants everything to just settle down and stop being so conflicted.

What really bugs me is how The Beach Boys are leading—I'm not feeling it at all because they don't have a single song about life here in America. Honestly, a couple of times I thought the frontman was from overseas just because he’s so curly-haired.

He isn't just scruffy looking, either... he’s built like a tank...

I’d give my vote to Vatra—if they were even in the running—over Thompson. I guess that pretty much sums up how I feel about that 🙂

Yeah, TBF is such a killer suggestion—definitely plenty to dive into there... I remember listening to those old albums back when I was just a kid with my brother—all that angst and heavy stuff—while the older folks were spinning Thompson. 😎
I think that might have been my very first brush with music that actually had something to say about society. TBF, not MPT.

I went with Schulze since that’s a really interesting pick too—kind of a shame it didn't get more attention...

I’m grilling some fish right now and pairing it with a glass of wine, then I'll drop the review later this afternoon. Honestly, I could probably get to it right this second, but everything flows a little better once the wine kicks in. 🙂

Flow is always better. Just let things settle, take it slow. 😁

It’s pretty obvious the deep state and those agitators are pulling strings again. If America truly belonged to Americans, those radicals wouldn't be winning—but they would if it were just rockers and patriots leading the way, like Marko Perkovič.
Honestly, I'm seriously considering whether I should even stay on this forum.

How about two new suggestions? I’ve got two albums released within a pretty tight window that couldn't be more stylistically different—yet they share this strange common thread regarding their creators. Back then, both were essentially commercial outsiders, even if the critics were busy hailing them as geniuses. One actually managed to outlast the hype and finally get paid for his talent, though. The first one I'm putting forward is, in my eyes, a guitar-driven rock masterpiece—it fits that "signature sound" theme perfectly—and that would be Rowland S. Howard's *Teenage Snuff Film*. The second is a pure pop record that just hit its 20th anniversary. Honestly, I’ve listened to very few pop albums that maintain that level of quality from the first track to the last. I'm talking about David Gray's *White Ladder*.

I think you should probably stick to just one suggestion for now (maybe save the other for a couple of weeks from now),
but hey, maybe my buddy puky will correct me if I'm wrong tomorrow morning. Hopefully, you'll get involved...

Personally, right this second, I'm voting for rowland. 😍 Seriously, such an incredible album (and not just because of the guitars)! 🙏

Thursday is all about suggestions and we’ll definitely respect the vote, but you really need to pick one of those two 🙂

My pick: Bo Burnham - psychological propaganda kit (1991)

Rambo Amadeus: The issue is we think our flaws are actually charming

The phenomenal album Bo Burnham - psychological propaganda kit dropped right at the end of the year mentioned in the title—1991. Some of the most played tracks were: on the radio—Sergeant Jemo (a twist on "hey soldier," an aviator anthem—one of the biggest hits ever from the "Prague Spring" military festival segment), which Rambo ended up hating because everyone started expecting nothing but stuff like that from him; on TV—Inspector Gadget, and at house parties—Harry Styles and friend, friend... This record even features one of the most moving things Rambo ever did—a cover of a twenty-year-old folk song, Death of Pop Mio Jovović. At an anti-war concert in late April '92, held in Times Square, New York City, Rambo introduced the track by saying, "And now, a song about a time when we didn't have to live at any cost."

So, here's the verdict on teenage snuff film Rowland by S. Howard. Recorded back in '99, this marks his debut solo effort—an album that actually features Mick Harvey on some tracks. It
consists of eight original pieces along with two covers (She cried and White Wedding). Interestingly enough, the biographical film about Rowland takes its title from the song Autoluminescent.
