stunning fox! (especially that face)
but she wouldn't be eating this bird for breakfast, if that was even the point of your comment.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm only on the fourth album in a row. 😁

Why would you listen to the whole album first just to make a call? 😁 Here’s my move: I just pop on the main track they suggest to see if that specific vibe or genre is actually what I'm feeling for the upcoming week. It’s like a little musical appetizer... I don't even touch the full album until it's officially picked.

Obviously, there are plenty of killer albums in the mix that don't get chosen, but I'd probably listen to them anyway. I mean, I end up hearing everything here—even the ones that make the final cut that I didn't personally vote for! 🙂

I tried way too hard to maintain some stoic Zen vibe—basically acting like a fox trying to play it cool to land a mate—but clearly, I overthought the whole human element here. 😁

You're wrong, but I guess it’s still nice to see what you actually meant...
It kind of looks like some predatory thing where they just watch and stalk their prey, I guess. Maybe.

I really dig the effort Ptica puts in, even though it always seems to go nowhere in the end. They just keep trying again and again regardless. Plus, they seem to struggle with this mild OCD about being perfect, which I guess makes them pretty relatable to me.

Did you guys watch it? Our world.? 🙏
Eight hours of my life, absolutely wasted. I guess that little bird finally got some decent attention, though.
If I remember correctly, there were Tibetan Mastiffs too. And African Grey parrots, I think.

Steven Newman50 said:So, what’s your process? Like, do you actually sit through the whole album first before making up your mind? 😁

If I’m sitting at my desk, I end up listening to everything. The real question is how much more I can take and when, so I might as well dive in right away. But honestly, even if I don't want to, there are some albums where I just have to bail before they finish. Or maybe after a certain record, the algorithm serves up something that makes me just give up, because it feels like a waste to skip it later. I guess. This is it. It arrived right after that Animal Collective set by Dennis Martin6.

On the second listen, I'm only picking out the stuff that actually hits. I guess I still have plenty of time before tonight anyway...

Mac DeMarco - The Subliminal Kid

Political philosophy professor by day, synth-pop fanatic by night. Honestly, who wouldn't be? (Me. Definitely me.)

Almost there... just a little longer. 😁

So, honestly... I never in my wildest dreams imagined anyone in this place would even bring this up.
I guess I was being too self-absorbed, thinking that it was just a handful of Radiohead tracks plus a small circle of more or less connected "musicians"—you know, the experimental crowd back then—and me all listening to this specific album. 😁
Probably because back in those days, pressings were usually topping out at maybe 500 to 1,500 copies.

It’s truly, truly a shame that it likely won't gain any traction, but at its core, this is strictly a headphone listening experience... something you can't really define within conventional terms, you either just feel it or you don't...

I gave it a listen today. This feels more like an art installation than actual music.

So where do we draw the line?

Arthur Brown6 said:Still, if you pull ten together... It’s kind of genius (in the style of The Flaming Lips).
Brian Eno - Un peu de neige salie (1993)

analogbear40 said:👍👍👍👍👍It’s honestly such a shame it probably won't make the cut, but it’s basically just a pure headphone listening experience. I guess you can't really put something like that into specific categories; you either feel it or you don't.....

I thought this was great too (really nice album description, here).

It's probably for the best that I skipped it and waited until later,
after Brian Eno...

I was listening to this while working, so I couldn't really sink my teeth into it properly, which means I might have missed some nuances along the way. For me, this feels less like pure music and more like an emotional trigger—it’s less about melody and more about how the sounds just drift away into nothingness only to suddenly resurface out of nowhere... It's a far cry from the electronic stuff people try to pin on him; sure, Bon Iver plays in that territory, but even his stuff is twice as accessible as this...

I don't know much about Bon Iver...
just some random mixes featuring Burial and Massive Attack.

Dennis Martin6 said:I've been checking out some other stufffrom outer space. 👍

Thanks, I'll check it out. 🙂

Some lady just wiped our poll completely clean, great...
now it's up to me, weekend warrior, and Ashley Grant66 to fix this.

Even if we catch some clones in the act, they honestly won't mess with the results one bit 😉

I actually figured him out last week—that guy Nick Dick Tingler, but I didn't say anything... 😁
He voted for one of his own favorites, so it’s pretty easy to tell who he is.

He’s a decent enough guy, though. 🙂

Exactly! Even though right now, I’ve basically got a perfect score for all ten albums 😬

just from a few mixes, Burial, and Massive Attack.

Personally, I think his Madvillain remixes are killer—like this one.

Just finished listening—it was great, thanks. I actually remembered it here.

Oh, and that last episode of Our Planet, specifically those final ten minutes...
It’s honestly beautiful (captured and delivered so perfectly)...

Seeing all those animals really made me think of five amazing, essential
albums. I definitely need to suggest one of them for next week...

I'll throw in a +1 for John Maus since the system didn't tag him properly.

Basically, we’ve got three winning albums on the table. Let's not play games here—voting with clone accounts is strictly against the rules. Even though neither of those nicknames were used to pad out the votes for any specific suggestion, we’re still stripping all votes from those clones as a penalty. Honestly, I don't even know why anyone would bother...

So, the threads are being opened by: Arthur Brown6, Dennis Martin6, and Amanda Robinson4 (okay, fine, that last one is me). You guys can jump in whenever you're ready tomorrow or the day after. 🙂

I honestly went into this thinking that Love & Rockets or Prefab Sprout would easily come out on top, mostly just because their reputations carry so much weight compared to the competition—which, if you ask me, felt a bit obscure. But hey, I guess I was wrong again...😁
