I have no clue what this is—just what my algorithm served up today.
(right after I gave 'Circle of Light' another listen...)

Huge hit, though personally I can't stand it. Honestly, you kids today don't have a clue about the nuances of self-governance.😁

I was actually convinced he was just joking—you know, playing dumb.
Then it hit me... considering his age, maybe he actually means it. 🙂 😁

Sade. Yeah, I know her. Great vocals. Honestly, might even be my favorite of all these releases. It’s got this whole nocturnal vibe to it. I was on the fence about giving her a spin, but one song by Fear totally sealed the deal.

Lovage. Pretty sure I’ve caught one of their tracks before. Some kind of trip-hop thing. Something's missing for me, though—way too much talking on the album.

San Salvador. Listening to this stuff always triggers these weird associations. It starts off feeling like folk, then moves into medieval territory, then Renaissance, then tribal, then maybe something African... it feels like a modern take on medieval secular music—you know, like pop music from the Middle Ages meant for dancing at a carnival or something. It’s got this cool indie energy. Overall, really interesting and definitely something fresh to me.

The Sound. Man, I grew up on Joy Division, so now everything in this style sounds similar or just heavily influenced by them. It’s okay, but it doesn't quite grab me. It’s the kind of album you don't necessarily put on just for the hell of it, but if someone handed it to me, I'd give it a fair shake and listen through.

igra staklen perla 👍

Die Krupps, Third Ear band, San Salvador, igra staklen perla—I really want to sit down and dive into those full albums. Sade was right on the edge, and one track was all it took to push me over.

Lisa Davis46 said:No, look at this—these guys are actually on progarchives.

They're solid...

You probably saw it already, but they have another album right before this one that critics actually liked even more. I thought about suggesting it, but it’s shorter than this one and the production is honestly terrible. Still, it's worth a spin, at least for "putovanje u plav".
On a global scale, this isn't exactly groundbreaking prog; you can hear heavy influences from much bigger international prog bands. But they still sound good. It's interesting to see what was coming out of this part of the world back then, even if everyone was just copying whoever had recently returned from Germany.

Out of the bands I haven't checked out yet, The Sound caught my eye. Based on the name alone, I half expected some experimental nonsense involving the mating calls of lions, but no, it's actually alright. 😁I'll give them a few more listens.

@Larry Martin11

Thanks for the detailed breakdown. They're a bit different, but that's why they're interesting, at least based on what I've heard so far. I'll try listening to the full thing when I get a chance. Honestly, you could always just start a separate thread about the band that isn't tied to this game. You basically have enough material for an intro right there in your previous post.

San Salvador has two votes, yet there are three nicknames listed underneath. Is anyone here actually capable of basic counting? 😁

Mods, come on—admit it. You guys didn't vote for the Byrds just because Sweetheart is a masterpiece (I know you aren't really into country-rock)—it's honestly just because you get a kick out of reading my nonsense.😁

If those ridiculous things you call a signature are any indication, I’m officially voting for you from now on. 😬

My bad for rambling on like that—one of my many shortcomings is definitely not knowing how to get to the point. 🙂

Man, this server is being super glitchy today... it keeps cutting my voice in and out. Total technical meltdown on this end...

To sounds like an unexplored classic to me! And honestly, that intro of yours? It’s just a total side note... 😛

Nah, I guess we’re back to just waiting on Sade... 🙂

I just had to drop this Vuco track here.

This recording is legendary on so many levels. It starts with that iconic shout Vuco, Vuco, then immediately hits you with a synth solo backed by those heavy tribal drums... We’re all soaring together into these hyper-folk heights, hands in the air, with a crowd acting like they're on steroids—just like the best old-school American glory days. The performance feels like the ultimate metal-folk fusion. You've got that kid in the white t-shirt at 1:38 and then a total Nataša Janjić moment right at 3:21. As usual, the comments on YouTube are pure gold. This whole set is a treasure trove, so I had to share it with you guys. 😁

Look, Vuco is basically a legend at this point. If you didn't get hammered and lose your mind at one of his shows, you haven't actually lived. Honestly, if I tried to recreate those nights today, I’m not even sure I’d make it out alive. 😁

That whole thing is an unexplored classic to me, and honestly, the possibility you brought up in your intro is just a side note. 😛

But yeah, anyway, now we're just sitting here waiting for Sade. 🙂

If I had been playing dirty, there was no way Sade would've won.🙂🙂

When I first saw this guy back in the mid-90s—I was only like 7 or 8—my immediate thought was, "This dude definitely beats up girls." Okay, looking back, "women" would be the right term, but to me, everyone was just a girl back then—the whole concept of "women" was totally fuzzy, aside from my aunts and grandmas and whatever else... everyone else was just a girl.
I mean, that’s just my subconscious talking—the point is, Vuco basically looks like the archetype of a guy who hits women.😁

Alright then. Looks like I managed to rattle your cages—the old-timers, the self-proclaimed rebels, and even the rookies (xavierkat, you're looking at me, and I'm counting on you to weigh in later).😁

Well, you could've just thrown more candidates into the Album of the Week mix then. I didn't vote for Sade thinking it would help drive more people toward starting a new thread if things ended up in a tie.

I cast my vote yesterday right around 20 minutes before midnight. Last one in. It was basically a coin toss whether my vote would even count, but I threw it in anyway. Didn't want to let luck make me look like a cheat. 🙂

Sure, I could've played it that way, but that feels like such a cheap move. Look, I know, it’s just a stupid poll. I was the last one to vote, but I wasn't trying to be tactical about it. Honestly, I tried being calculated once before, but it didn't work out. 🙂

I didn't have any real intention of voting, but I figured I'd just give my support to the underdog and then go listen to everything.

Truth is, it didn't even cross my mind that more albums might make the cut.

Anyway, I don't mean for this to sound like I'm patting myself on the back. 🙈

I was at one of his shows in NYC maybe 15 or 20 years ago, and I remember it being an absolute riot. And honestly, half the crowd looked like hardcore metalheads 😁

I didn't get around to my usual forum duties yesterday, but there's no question that he's got my kind of voice (alongside The Byrds, Sade, and maybe a few others on that list). I get it when someone like David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, or some classic rock legend doesn't make Album of the Week, but if an icon of this magnitude stays overlooked—well, I guess that's just a failure of society as a whole ☕

One day we're listening to country, the next we're all hitting the dance floor... as soon as the DJ drops the beat 🙂

Man, I get that this kind of thing eventually becomes necessary, but I didn't even get a chance to cast my vote, let alone suggest an album. If I had, The Byrds would have definitely swept the polls... Luckily, some primitive hack didn't make the cut. Honestly, are there actually people here who can stomach that mindless, brainless humor, or even worse, that absolute trash rock? 🤮

I mean, if the average age here was around 16, I might actually understand some of this...

Calls for "loyalty" and future devotion, tactical voting—or just staying home entirely—and those desperate attempts to smear the opponent as some kind of "backwards hillbilly"... if only these "elections" actually felt like real elections! 😁

*Just kidding—personally, I think Elvis Presley is a total disaster, but the older I get, the more Zen I become. Live and let listen, right? Besides, a few of my absolute favorite musicians from back in the day turned out to be complete idiots later on. 🙂

If you don't love Elvis Presley, you probably don't have a heart ☕

Look, jokes aside—I don't really take him (or his music) all that seriously, but even at his most basic, he’s still better than half the garbage currently on the American pop charts. I guess that says more about the state of the industry than it does about Elvis, but that's a whole other conversation..
