Deckard and everyone else—forgive me for starting a thread like this, but I really had to get this off my chest.

I don't even know where to begin, honestly. I felt forced to open this discussion because so many people claim there aren't any big, epic movies left these days that actually give you goosebumps or hit you right in the feels—well, the Avengers movies do exactly that.

When I see how much hype and fame is being thrown around for that Star Wars trash in the new trilogy, I just had to bring it back down to earth—actually, way underground—by comparing them to the brilliant Avengers films. It absolutely terrifies me that anyone could even compare such cheap garbage to the Avengers, but I am doing this intentionally here to show just how pathetic those Star Wars sequels are compared to the Avengers. Even though they both come from the same era, the difference in quality is like comparing two different universes.

Of course, thank God the Avengers have millions of Marvel fans who can deal with these Star Wars crazies any day of the week, but I wanted to put a definitive exclamation point on how bad the Star Wars trilogy is by measuring it against the genius of the Avengers.

Just one single Avengers movie is three times better than all three Star Wars sequel films combined. A single Avengers flick has ten times more soul, emotion, and everything else that makes a person lose their mind, whereas the Star Wars trilogy is just pure junk.

Go ahead, lecture me or judge me for comparing Star Wars sequels to the Avengers—we all know the Avengers wouldn't just bury Star Wars; they’d cement it under 500 meters of concrete in about three milliseconds.

To wrap this up—and hey, feel free to ban me if you want—the Star Wars sequels are nothing but a joke compared to the Avengers. I just wanted to remind you what actual modern cinema looks like: Endgame, Infinity War, the first Avengers, and even Ultron—they all destroy everything at every single level compared to that Star Wars sequel trash.

I curse the day I spent a single cent to go see one of those Star Wars disasters, because every Avengers movie is worth every penny and then some.

Even though I'm pretty old school, I'm proud to say I've watched the Avengers movies as a staple of my era. These are the films that will go down in history—not just as some of the best superhero movies ever made, but as some of the best films overall, definitely landing in the top 20 or 30.

The Avengers movies—alongside Nolan's Batman trilogy and Logan—restored my faith that even in this modern age, you can still make absolutely brilliant films with actual soul.

So, there it is. Speak your minds, people. It’s honestly laughable to think the Star Wars sequels belong in the same sentence as the Avengers. They don't even belong in the same library, let alone the same sentence. For goodness sake, Disney's attempt is just a circus of misery compared to the genius of the Avengers. I'll say it again: a total circus of misery!

The Avengers are basically eating two new Star Wars movies for breakfast (haven't checked out the third one yet). There isn't even much to say about it, honestly—they're just better and way more fun movies.

Even though those first two entries in the new Star Wars trilogy aren't terrible, the Avengers films are just higher quality overall.

Even though I don't think the first two from the new Star Wars trilogy are bad, the Avengers films are simply higher quality.

I honestly can't wrap my head around how this soulless Star Wars sequel trash could even be compared to the Avengers saga, but I felt compelled to make this comparison just so people finally get it.

Full disclosure here: I almost jumped out of my theater seat ten times while watching Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame—I literally bounced out of my chair.

The music, those scenes... man, it’s... it’s right up there with the great classics that actually had soul, but from this modern era.

The way everything is masterfully woven together, how they build up the emotion until you just explode.

I don't even need to bring up specific emotional scenes from the Avengers; the mere mention of that "Assemble" scene from Endgame is enough—that single moment is worth more than fifteen of these other Star Wars movies combined.

I truly believe time and history will prove the value of the Avengers films, and Marvel films in general (even if they have flooded us for years, we'll remember them when the dust settles), let alone the Avengers specifically.

I'm genuinely proud that I was in the theater for Infinity War and Endgame; those are the kind of movies where you feel proud just for having been there to witness it—it's indescribable, man, haha.

And then, when you compare that to this Star Wars sequel garbage (which was built on PAID "expert reviews" and a bunch of idiot fans who defend this disaster), you realize what kind of junk we're talking about. It's trash that doesn't give you a single goosebump in all three films, mostly because they are just soulless, nasty pieces of recycled nonsense without any purpose at all 🙂, and there you have it.

AVENGERS 4LIFE haha. 🙂

I’m not sure what to say. Superhero movies are just boring to me in general; I might sit through one, but they slip my mind almost immediately. I prefer Star Wars, though the newer Star Wars entries aren't anything special either.

Deadpool is good, but from what the hardcore fans explain, it isn't even part of that saga. Honestly, it’s just not my thing.

Both series are honestly kind of trash, but I guess the Avengers are at least fun to watch 👍

The Avengers movies are generally better than the Star Wars sequels—though I do have some issues with that lackluster Endgame—okay...

But.

At any given moment, and in any universe, Star Wars (as a whole) remains untouchable.
Sure, these Marvel movies are flashy and all, which is great, but overall, Star Wars holds more weight than Marvel. Honestly, Star Wars stands above everything else...

There's no doubt about it, Marvel and Disney are ruling Hollywood right now.

The Avengers are definitely more fun. They tie all the movies together so well that... the new Star Wars doesn't stand much of a chance. To be honest, they get a bit repetitive after a while, so I've started skipping them. I didn't even catch Black Panther, the new Superman, or the new Ant-Man... Lately, I actually found Joker more interesting, and Wonder Woman wasn't bad either.

So, yeah, if I see something that catches my eye, I'll watch it, but I don't feel like I have to. I'm even doubting whether I'll go see this new Star Wars at all, even though it was one of the few movies I was actually looking forward to this year.

But I'm a Trekkie at heart, so I usually prefer the series anyway.

The Avengers are definitely three steps ahead of the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

They just work better—they're more fun, carry more drama, and actually have a cohesive structure. On the flip side, you've got Star Wars episodes 7 through 9, which aren't necessarily bad movies, but you can tell the whole thing was a bit of a mess from the ground up.

The reason so many people are bashing this new Star Wars saga is simply because it doesn't come close to the original trilogy. But honestly, it shouldn't try to. That original run is one of a kind, and it's pretty ridiculous to tear these apart just because they don't match the quality of The Empire Strikes Back.

Kudos to whoever thought to open a dedicated thread for the two greatest sagas of all time. Is it fair to draw parallels between the Avengers saga and the modern Star Wars? Perhaps. I feel lucky to have witnessed these films during their golden age, and I wonder how the Avengers saga will be remembered twenty years from now.
Basically, I haven't become immune either. The Avengers saga undoubtedly defined a decade of cinema. Suddenly, third-rate franchises were being treated as synonyms for quality because today, when people head to the theater, they check first to see if there's a Marvel movie playing. They simply have everything that makes a great film—soul, substance, charismatic actors, and a real story.
Even though everyone expected the quality to drop over time, the opposite happened; Marvel movies just kept drawing bigger crowds. Honestly, a Marvel film is what forced me to follow tens of thousands of characters just for a thirty-second post-credits scene. Or that feeling of anxiously waiting for nothing but a trailer or a title—it’s wild.
It’s no wonder they were embraced by critics, audiences, and the box office alike...

I think I'm done, not just with Endgame, but with DC superhero films too. The newer titles don't grab me. I can't stomach anything that feels overly "new" right now; we've already seen it all—the individual heroes, the R-rated stuff, the comedies...
I'm curious which saga will define the next decade. I almost wish it would be Avatar, because aside from those special effects, they didn't really have much else to offer.
I hold Star Wars responsible for not having more substance in its films. They just didn't have the courage to launch a brand-new saga.

Look, I'll admit it—the Avengers movies are generally better than the Star Wars sequels. That being said, I do have some pretty significant issues with how pathetic Endgame turned out to be.

But.

At any given moment, in any corner of the universe—honestly, across the entire Star Wars franchise—it remains untouchable.
Look, I get it—those Marvel movies are visually stunning and all that, but if we're being honest, Star Wars just hits different. In my book, Star Wars stands head and shoulders above the rest. It’s honestly in a league of its own.

"Exactly," and honestly, both this poll and the current state of the film industry back that up. Please, just take a step back and look at how things actually stand right now—no offense intended, but the Avengers are essentially the cinematic Godfather for all this modern Star Wars nonsense (with the exception of Revenge of the Sith).

Star Wars will always hold its ground as one of the greatest phenomena ever—but honestly, that’s only thanks to George Lucas and the original trilogy. Let’s be real about where things stand today: Marvel, especially the Avengers, is absolutely crushing the new Star Wars trilogy in every single cinematic metric. Literally every one.

Cheers!

P. S. Honestly, both Guardians of the Galaxy movies are leagues better than any Star Wars sequel—let alone the Avengers. Man, come back to reality for a second.

Look, as far as the Avengers go, I just think the Star Wars sequels are second-rate movies—and if that rubs you the wrong way because you’re still living in George Lucas's glory days, well, that’s not my problem (and it's certainly not his).

Anyway, I haven't become immune to the hype either. Even though everyone expected the quality to dip over time, it actually went the opposite way—Marvel's audience just kept growing. I mean, damn, a Marvel movie is the reason I find myself following dozens of different characters just to catch a 30-second post-credits scene, or that feeling of pure anticipation while waiting for a trailer or even just a title announcement—it's wild.
It's hardly surprising then that they've been such massive hits with critics, audiences, and at the box office alike...

That's my take on it. 👍

A high-quality and RATIONAL post, Viv.

I haven't sat through the entire Avengers saga, but I've never been a fan of that whole time travel concept because of the risks involved.
You kill a bug in the past and suddenly the entire timeline is rewritten. Still, I suppose their intentions were good—they just wanted to bring back half of the population.

P. S. Honestly—both Guardians of the Galaxy films are leagues above any Star Wars sequel, let alone the Avengers... man, come back to reality for a second...

As for the Avengers—those Star Wars sequels were just mediocre movies... and if that bothers you because you’re still living in George Lucas's glory days, well, that's not my problem—nor is it his...

Oh, come on... seriously?

The real difference is that Revenge of the Sith and the first two Star Wars films are just stronger than all of Marvel—regardless of how the rest of the series turned out...

Look, Marvel has definitely delivered some incredibly attractive films—but let's be honest, they weren't all hits... I actually found Black Panther to be even sillier than The Last Jedi, if we're being real, and I haven't even sat through Captain Marvel yet—though both seem to suffer from the same issues as the new Star Wars...
It’s a fun little distraction—well-made and all—but for me personally, they feel a bit too... simple...
Honestly, you could spend an eternity debating Star Wars—it’s just got so much depth and soul to it...

But getting back to the main point—yes, Avengers 1 and 3 were fantastic, no doubt about it... though 2 and 4 were just okay—especially that Endgame installment...
The Star Wars sequels really struggled with the pressure of following up an existing saga—which is a cinematic masterpiece, but more importantly, a massive cultural phenomenon... and they just ended up blowing the whole thing...

That’s your issue? You're worried about that, but you don't have an issue with hyperdrive chases or lasers blowing up entire planets?
BTW, if we're actually comparing how things stack up, shouldn't we be counting the Star Wars spin-offs too—like Star Wars: Rogue One or Han Solo?

For me, the Avengers saga is number one.
A bunch of 1st mediocre characters (besides Thor) managed to push the Marvel franchise to insane heights, while Star Wars just keeps failing at the box office without even needing to "resurrect" their icons (like Darth Vader, Han Solo, or Palpatine).

Take another look at that, because I don't think you quite grasped how the time travel mechanics actually work here. Even within the film, it’s mentioned at least three different times that time travel doesn't function that way and that you can't simply change the past.

The thing is—Revenge of the Sith and the first two Original Trilogy films are just stronger than the entire Marvel lineup, regardless of how the rest of that series turned out... well, however it did.

Look, Marvel has given us a handful of really great movies. But they weren't all hits either (personally, I think Black Panther is even sillier than The Last Jedi, if we're being honest, and I haven't even watched Captain Marvel yet—though both seem to suffer from the same issues as the new Star Wars).

I mean, you can debate Star Wars forever—it’s more complex, it has soul.

But getting back to the point: yeah, Avengers 1 and 3 were fantastic, I'll give you that. 2 and 4? They were okay, especially Endgame.
The Star Wars sequels had a massive hurdle because they had to build on an existing mythos—something that isn't just a movie, but a cultural phenomenon. And they completely blew it.

I was specifically talking about the Star Wars sequels here, not the older Star Wars films. My whole point is how far Star Wars has fallen with this trilogy when you compare it to the Avengers saga. Honestly, some of you Star Wars fanatics need a bucket of cold water to wake you up—and that cold water is the incredible Avengers movies;

YOU AREN'T NUMBER 1 ANYMORE. Whether you like it or not, the Avengers and Marvel essentially carried Star Wars (the sequels) on their backs.

Maybe if you hadn't spent so much time bashing George Lucas, we’d actually have something interesting to discuss on this thread. Just admit defeat. This is what happens to Star Wars if they keep making new movies under Disney's thumb: the franchise becomes a total joke without any substance. In fact, with these three films, they've already crossed that line.

There are already as many Marvel fans as there are Star Wars fans, if not more. Actually, plenty of Star Wars fans have migrated over to Marvel (the Avengers saga) almost by accident—people simply recognize what a REAL MOVIE looks like.

The first two Original Trilogy films and Revenge of the Sith are movies I truly respect—they're among my favorites ever—but they can't fix the reality of where Star Wars is today: it's sinking, and it's going to keep sinking. George Lucas isn't coming back, and without George Lucas, there is no Star Wars. Anyone who doesn't see that is living in a dream world.

The Avengers movies are, as I said, better in every single aspect that makes a movie a good movie compared to the Star Wars sequels. Literally everything.

So, feel free to keep clinging to the old glory days of Star Wars, but again, that's not the topic here. The topic is how low Star Wars has plummeted with this trilogy. You only realize the scale of the failure when you hold it up against the massive success of the Avengers saga; that's when you see just how much of a disaster the Star Wars sequels really are.

No offense.

And I'll say it again: two Guardians of the Galaxy movies are better than the new Star Wars trilogy, let alone the Avengers. Comparing the Avengers to the new Star Wars is ridiculous—literally laughable. But I had to say it so you'd realize exactly how much of a mess the Star Wars sequels are when held up against the Avengers (the defining phenomenon of a new era, which history will prove).

This is essentially just a comparison between pears and apples, except there are far more pears being discussed, while the apples are being unnecessarily hated on. It feels like a failed topic to me, I guess.

Exactly.
The Avengers are... hollow. Just a bloated blockbuster machine designed to churn out cash. At least that's how it feels to me. I haven't even sat through all of them because, frankly, I haven't felt the urge to catch an Avengers sequel since I saw the first one.
Even with all the fragmented sequels, Star Wars remains easily the best thing I've ever seen in that genre.
