Ryan finally looks young again, instead of some washed-up hipster on crack.

I feel like there’s a certain Ready Player One vibe here that I really dug

So, this is basically just a live-action version of Wreck-It Ralph—a video game character trying to turn his life around and be a good guy.

My kids and I absolutely loved this; it’s one of those genuine feel-good movies that feels rare to come across these days.

The kids were practically jumping out of their seats with excitement. Honestly, I even found myself getting a bit emotional during one scene—but I won't say which one to avoid any spoilers 👍
It’s several notches higher in quality and humor than Ready Player One. There is some fan service sprinkled in, but it's used quite effectively. My only real gripe is that the technical execution gets a little loose toward the end, but hey, it's not a dealbreaker.

Reynolds tends to play a similar type of character in almost everything he does, so if you’re already a fan of his style, you’ll enjoy this. If not, you might want to sit this one out.

I really enjoyed the movie. It felt great to finally head to the theater and have a good laugh. 😁

He happens to be my favorite actor, even though I haven't sat through his entire filmography. On top of that, we actually hail from the same hometown, which gives me an extra bit of motivation to check this one out.

Honestly, I've been dying for a decent movie like this for ages.

It was a decent enough feel-good flick. Though, if I’m being honest, the ending felt a bit too sugary for my taste.

I honestly don't get how anyone thinks this beats Ready Player One. Like, where is the actual comparison? That movie actually made you feel like you were inside a game, visually speaking. Not to mention the plot and the acting were leagues better.
This is just two hours of Ryan Reynolds sprinting down the street with that goofy grin on his face.
If you're looking for a comparison, go with Pixels.

Look, it’s definitely not better than Ready Player One, but I guess it’s a decent enough movie.
The only funny parts were okay, but honestly, Ryanov humor was starting to get really annoying after a while.
Channing and Taika are cool, though. Side note, I just realized Taika kind of sounds like Johnny Depp.
Best part was the Captain America scene. Man, I really miss that character. 🙏

I made it about halfway through before I just couldn't take it anymore; I had to shut it off.

Honestly, you're much better off if you just watch Ready Player One.

Man, this was boring. Just cliché after cliché after cliché—half-baked gags (usually some Captain America cameo), more clichés. It kind of reminds me of "Boss Level" with Frank, which is honestly on a whole different level, even if that one is packed with tropes too.

Ryan is getting more and more annoying with that goofy, half-witted smirk and those corny jokes. He could've at least played that cappuccino scene like something out of Dirty Harry since he's clearly leaning into the clichés and rip-offs; maybe like Sudden Impact, but then it would've been like Hot Shots! with an NPC playing Dirty Harry. Actually, that's not a bad movie idea: just grab a bunch of NPCs who are all basically clichés from different movies, give them the red pill, and start a rebellion. 🙂

Channing is his usual annoying self; I honestly have no clue why they keep casting that guy.

The dude plays a pretty dim-witted version of Guy, though he does have a few funny moments. By the end, it feels a bit like Dark City.

It’s honestly wild how they took such a killer premise and turned it into this incredibly dull, cookie-cutter movie 👎

I’d much rather just watch Ready Player One—I mean, that one has its own fair share of issues too, but I think the difference in the director’s touch is pretty obvious...

Just a light movie for entertainment. Solid enough.
