Casey Long2 said:Honestly, I’ll be the first to admit he isn't exactly my favorite—I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm a huge fan—but if I really have to choose, I'd still take him over Fetla any day of the week. 🙂

Fetl still has plenty of time to crash and burn. ☕

Grace Barnes said:It’s true that within the current driver lineup, there isn't anyone better than Fernando Alonso,
but he really does have an incredible amount of luck on his side. His only real setback this season was when
Romain Grosjean took him out, though Lewis Hamilton suffered the exact same fate then,
and in all the other races, Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel faced much tougher struggles.
As if it wasn't enough that Hamilton had to retire today, now Pastor Maldonado is out too, which saved him from having to fight for 3rd place.
There's no need to list all the mishaps Vettel and Hamilton have dealt with this season; anyone following the sport knows.
You only need to look back at Valencia when Alonso jumped from 5th to 1st.
Vettel was leading until his car pulled aside, Grosjean's car failed, and then Maldonado
knocked both himself and Hamilton out just a few laps before the end. If that race had finished "normally,"
Vettel would be ahead of Alonso in the standings right now. And let's not even mention
last race, where Vettel lost about 10 crucial points due to a mechanical failure.
Kudos to Fernando, but luck can't follow him forever through the rest of the season,
so the title fight will likely stay wide open until the final race...

you know what they say, though—luck is something you have to learn how to trigger...☕

Lewis Hamilton's race engineer: "We've got a gearbox failure. I'm sorry, we gave it everything we had yesterday."

What kind of expertise are we even talking about here? Honestly, it was nothing more than pure misfortune hitting him on those two tracks that allowed any sense of uncertainty to remain in the championship standings until the very end.

Amy Vaughn12 said:I don't think Schumacher is to blame here. It looks like this driver almost came to a complete standstill mid-corner, and by then, Schumacher just didn't have enough room left to brake properly.

What are you even talking about? He braked like an absolute amateur, and honestly, he would have just kept charging straight ahead regardless. If there hadn't been anyone else out there on the track, he wouldn't have even attempted that turn, let alone made that desperate little maneuver he tried to pull.

Raymond Anderson4 said:The issue was actually with the gearbox, not the rear suspension.

Well, isn't it true that every single impact on those rear tires gets transferred right up into the gearbox and the engine? It really just depends on how hard the hit is, doesn't it?

Raymond Anderson4 said:I have to say, this looks like a pretty messy situation for the leaders... they didn't pit, and now Mark Webber has gone in for a fresh set of soft tires.
Are they really going to try and limp to the finish on those old mediums?
Vettel, Butt, Ala.

Mark Webber still has 20 laps left on those things, plus he's gonna have to deal with some serious degradation.

This Williams car is a total joke—two taps on the pedal and there's no first gear, just straight to full throttle!!

What idiots 🙄

How is Michael Schumacher being blamed now? 🙄 Should he have just pulled the ABS on some greasy corner because Vergne braked way too late??? 🙄

Linda Vaughn said:No true supporter of Fernando Alonso or Ferrari should be pretending to feel any sympathy for Lewis Hamilton right now. Let’s be honest—we are all absolutely thrilled with how this played out, even if we have to admit that Hamilton performed with that same signature brilliance he's displayed over the last few races. He put together a fantastic qualifying lap and maintained an incredible pace throughout the race; clearly, Lewis Hamilton is in peak form, and I suspect Fernando Alonso just had a bit of luck on his side today. That being said, nothing is truly decided yet, especially considering the momentum behind McLaren and Hamilton, contrasted against the sluggishness of that Ferrari car.

Of course we’re hyped 😍

And besides... it’s pretty obvious they knew about that gear issue before the race even started. They just decided to roll the dice instead of swapping the gearbox.
So yeah, they totally brought this on themselves.

So, here we go—Lewis Hamilton, the guy who’s supposedly a powerhouse 🙏

First, those ridiculous pit stop blunders in the opening races... then in Spain, they basically toss him from pole position straight to the back through no fault of his own... then you have that whole Maldonado-style mess during the final lap in Valencia, that absolute disaster at the start in Spa, and now, today, he loses a gear while leading the pack... damn 🙏

By the way, an entire hour has ticked by and they aren't even halfway through their laps yet. Does anyone else recall how things played out during the previous years? 🤷

True, but I didn't get the feeling that it was a particularly heavy hit.
What I remember most is him mostly scraping against the wall rather than taking a direct hit on the tires.
