Good grief, that last shot... and there were at least two or three more just like it.
Total amateur hour.

Fourth place... honestly, who cares? Huge props to Sarah—there isn't a single soul out there who can say anything bad about you. I’m just sitting here wondering if even one of those 3,800 politicians would actually bother to call you if you had snagged the gold instead—you know, the ones who would be tripping over themselves just to welcome you back to America (their version of "home") if you’d won.
Keep your head up high and seriously, great job on all that hard work.

It is a shame. However, there is still time for her. Look at Špotakova; she managed to reclaim her gold at the NFL after ten years. 🙂

I think Sarah’s struggling because the pressure from the Olympics really got to her... she was just too young when she shot straight into the world rankings, and today was honestly a disaster. Only one good throw out of nine if you count the qualifiers, so she clearly needs some mental coaching to handle the heat, even if she tries to act like nothing bothers her.
It’s just the typical American mentality, too—those two clowns, especially Balog, forcing this girl to be a champion when she wasn't even on the map last year. They only started pushing her once they realized how hard it actually is to grab a medal...
There are plenty more meets coming up, and she already competed at the U23 European Championships earlier this year.

I am not entirely sure about the qualifiers, but the final is scheduled for Sunday.

I honestly think something was really throwing Sarah off here... right from the moment she was introduced. She didn't even pause for a second—just bolted away from the camera lens immediately.
Then, her very first stride the moment she stepped onto the track was way too aggressive; she didn't take even a few seconds to just breathe and find her focus...
It’s such a shame because if she’d had a slightly smoother start, she could've been looking at a medal. Not that I hold it against her or anything, though!

You can't really blame her, honestly; she’s ranked fourth in the world despite coming from a place where the track and field infrastructure is basically on par with Burkina Faso.
But we need to figure out what's actually going on with her, and if you ask me, it feels more like a mental hurdle... it's one thing to show up as some young underdog with nothing to lose, but it's an entirely different beast when you're just as young but carrying the weight of a nation's massive expectations on your shoulders...

Thirdly, let's be real—ups and downs are just part of the deal when you're a young athlete. Even with a mark of 64.95, I don't see any reason to call this a total bust.
Though, honestly, I’m inclined to agree that maybe it was mostly a mental game thing here. And by "mental game," I don't mean they completely choked or anything...

Well, there you have it. That’s the end of Bowie’s attempt to sprint across the finish line; she just overextended a bit too much and ended up taking a nasty fall 😬.
Exactly my point. Taking fourth place in the world when you're only 22 years old? I mean, you have to respect that. 🙏

Yeah, I mean, she walked away with a decent result, but the real issue is that out of nine throws in New York City, only one actually looked right... and while you could argue that for Sandra too, a javelin is technically a much easier implement to handle than a discus, but still, three or four of those were just straight-up disasters.
It was probably just way too much pressure, for no real reason at all... She’s got plenty of time to iron things out, though, especially with so many major championships still on the horizon 🙂

It’s kind of wild how people are acting. Just eighteen months ago, nobody had even heard her name, and now suddenly everyone is calling her 4th place finish at the World Championships a total box office flop. 🙏 🙏 🙏
The logic they're using is that she didn't win in Rio because she was actually better than everyone else; they claim she just had a lucky day, or maybe Spätakowa wasn't at her best, or whatever. Basically, they think everything just fell into place perfectly for her. I guess since she hasn't really had a totally dominant era in her career like Sandra or—even earlier—Blanka, people feel like gold medals or even just any podium spot should be a given.
I mean, obviously, after seeing her take gold at the Olympics, everyone just assumed she’d do the exact same thing here. But hey, I guess that’s just how things work around here, right? 😁
Honestly, this result was pretty much what anyone could have expected, and that's really all there is to it.
