So, I’ve been dealing with some really weird behavior from Skype over the last couple of days.
It’s like the app has developed its own little personality or something because whenever I’m messaging someone, it starts swapping out their actual words for different ones, and then there's this blue "show original" link sitting right next to them. It’s super distracting because I can't actually see what they're saying until I go ahead and click that link to reveal the real text.
Does anyone happen to know what might be causing this glitch?

I don't really touch Skype myself, but I caught wind that Microsoft might be baking some kind of real-time language translator right into it—so, say you're typing away in American while your buddy sees everything in English on their end... kind of wild, right? Maybe if you dig through the settings, you can find something about language translation and just toggle it off if it starts acting up.

That’s not quite what I’m getting at.
I want it to swap out certain words for my own custom ones, and then only show the actual original word when I click the "view source" link.
I’ve gone through every single option under the tools menu with a fine-tooth comb, but I just can't seem to pin down what's causing this.

It’s almost certainly because of those idiotic macOS settings. Somewhere deep within the system preferences, there’s an autocorrect feature that you absolutely have to disable.

Check if anyone else is showing up on Skype. Honestly, it might not even be an issue on your end—could just be a glitch with whoever you're chatting with.
