Microsoft Word 2016

Hi there.

I've run into a bit of a snag. I can open all my existing files just fine with the latest version of Microsoft, but any new document I download from the web refuses to open. It happened out of nowhere—everything was working perfectly just a few days ago. I'm honestly not sure what to do here. If anyone has some insight, I’d really appreciate the help. 🙂

Go into your control panel and head over to the default programs section—once you're there, just look for Microsoft in the list and click "set this program as default."

Thanks for the reply. I’ve already tried that—settings are all configured correctly...
So, here's the deal: when I open existing files, everything works fine and they load in the latest version without an issue. But the second I download something from the web—say, from Facebook or my email—it won't open at all. Instead, I just get that error message. I don't know... I wouldn't call myself a total beginner, and I've tried just about everything, but I'm still stuck XD. If anyone happens to figure this out, please let me know 🙂 thanks in advance🙂 if nothing works, I guess I'll just have to reinstall the whole thing

Heh, I finally figured it out... turns out I just had to mess around with some settings in Microsoft Word 2016 :)) It was happening across all the new versions of my software—I just had to dive into the settings, find protected view, and uncheck everything there! 🙂 Just thought I'd drop this here in case anyone else is running into the same headache. 🙂
