rustydrifter10 said:Basically, I issue cumulative warnings when it's the same violation. So, if you're trolling across several posts within a single discussion, I'll hand out one warning. But, if someone goes a step further and starts being insulting, that’s an entirely separate warning because it's a different offense altogether. I noticed there was a lot of deleting happening; I took a look at a few, and truthfully, the post you were warned for wasn't the only trolling comment you made. By that logic, you actually earned more than one, but that's just not how I handle moderation.

I really don't think there's any point in dwelling on this now, and besides, this isn't even the intended topic for this thread.

Man, all five... I don't really see things your way, but this is an old topic now. It's an old warning. And like you said, there's no point dragging this thread back into it.

Especially since I just saw your signature. In light of this whole discussion, it carries a completely different meaning than I thought... 😉

Honestly, that signature is ancient history; it’s something I pulled from an old debate years ago, and there's a certain principle I follow that keeps me from changing it even after the dust has settled. 😁 Believe me, having that in my profile doesn't stop me from spotting when she breaks the rules or stepping in to hold her accountable. If you want proof, just look at her "file"—it's practically overflowing with citations I've handed her over time. 😁

Wasn't your initial point just a general critique regarding the lack of a certain 'Rod-style' atmosphere? It feels like you took two quick steps and ended up digging through old personal grievances instead.

In short, trying to tell either one of them that Rod is anything but a joke is just pure nonsense.

I love seeing how RID is restructuring itself. Honestly, it was high time they took decisive action. Props to the women leading the charge. 😍

Just a suggestion... Personally, I think it would make sense to create one PPDF specifically for toddlers and preschoolers, and another one for school-aged kids.
Teenage angst and nursery tantrums have absolutely nothing in common. Splitting them up by age might make sorting through topics a lot easier.

The main part of the PPDF could then cover general parenting issues that apply to all ages, even those involving adult children.

If you actually spent some time reading our moderator posts, you'd realize that's exactly what we're working on right now. 😳

My bad.
Guess I've been too busy with our own business. 😍

I'm out.

So, you're working on the moderation team specifically for the kids' section? Well, isn't that just just wonderful!

rustydrifter10 said:Not everything is going to be moved over there. I honestly think most people on this forum just instinctively dump their uncertainty into that one thread, but everyone is more than welcome to start a brand-new topic if they're dealing with something else entirely.

Isn't this thread specifically for that one guy whose mother is raising his child, and he's struggling to figure out how to push back against her without clashing with Education?

I get the impression people flock to that thread simply because they're afraid the moderators will merge their posts with the main one. 😁

Ugh... 🙄

I have absolutely no intention of revisiting what happened before. I’ll just say that leading up to the summer, RID was total chaos—every single thread was a battlefield, and people were constantly at each other's throats 🙄. All those issues are being cut off at the root now, and honestly, I’ve kept the number of bans down to a handful of fingers over these last few months while moderating.

brightpuma, you know, I actually got hit with this comment that I'm basically an activist—apparently because I find certain groups militant about trivial nonsense, yet I don't push hard enough on the things that actually matter. But that's beside the point. I have no clue which specific thread gave you that impression, but I can assure you our current moderation team is heading everywhere except toward that ideology. ☕

Okay, we all pretty much agree on one thing: RID used to be a toxic place, things are improving, and they're going to get even better.
It's just that we can't fix everything overnight 🙂 so please, let's have a little understanding.

Honestly, I wasn't aiming at rustydrifter10. And it wasn't about that specific debate. Believe me, I read a ton of threads without ever commenting.

I was talking about those times when a mom comes onto a forum asking for advice because her nipples are bleeding from nursing, or something similar, and all she gets is basically a "deal with it" response. Like, if you actually care about your kid, you just have to endure it. 🙄 And things like that.

Then there are the situations where everything leans heavily toward RID propaganda—from breastfeeding schedules down to feeding methods. It makes it seem like if you use formula, you're being irresponsible, at the very least. I remember a few comments suggesting someone might even lose their child later due to neglect, just because they aren't "trying hard enough" right now. 🙄

Look, RID is a niche community, just like a few others. So, in my opinion, if someone suggests—directly or indirectly—that you're a bad parent, you could easily take that as an insult.

Ha, I suppose that’s just how things have to be nowadays—everyone seems so incredibly hypersensitive about how people choose to parent, whether it's their own business or someone else's. It feels like the exact same thing happening over at Reddit 🙂.

I had one person—who doesn't even know if they're a parent themselves, for that matter—diagnose me with nothing less than "possessive parenting." Personally, I’d much rather just swallow my tongue and stay quiet than deal with some rigid PDF being shoved down my throat to prevent any actual, heated discussion.

brightpuma, stop nitpicking the presentation 🙂.

Honestly, I don't know. I figure parents, especially the young and inexperienced ones, are under massive stress trying to raise kids. When people start bashing you left and right over your methods, feeding habits, or whatever, I bet that sticks with you. It makes you second-guess every single decision you make with your child.

Look, I agree you shouldn't be rigid, but you really have to know where to draw the line. It's easy for a comment to slide from "here's what I'd do" straight into "here's what I'd do if I actually loved my kid." You see the difference? 😉

Yeah, you’ve got three kids, so you actually know what you're talking about from experience... ☕

Stop trolling and dragging this thread off-topic. I already had to deal with you back when I was in my ninth month...😉

To be completely unbiased here, she wasn't trolling—you were. Please, just try to be a little more respectful in how you talk to people.

So, she didn't want to start an off-topic debate in the "RID Restructuring" thread on the PZK about whether parents should be second-guessing their own decisions just because of some anonymous comments on a forum? Okay. Guess I misread the situation. 🤷

Honestly, I wouldn't have even bothered responding if they hadn't taken one tiny little slice out of that massive wall of text just to nitpick it. Why do that? 🤷

To be honest, you're actually the one who went off-topic here, and that warning above was specifically aimed at trolling.

Forgive me, but I don't recall us ever meeting. I was simply responding to your claim that parents rethink their actions because of forum comments—you say it as if that were some sort of flaw.

I’m not even trying to go off-topic here. In my view, a parenting subforum that is kept so sterile that there is no incentive for anyone to reflect on themselves or their parenting style is a total failure. Such a space serves no purpose other than acting as a glorified service directory where people check which baby food brands are on sale or what the latest Peg Perego strollers look like. To me, that's utterly pointless.

Furthermore, I am actually enjoying the direction RID is taking; for the first time in quite a while, it feels like an honest subforum.

How am I the one going off-topic? The last three posts in this thread before the response from CC were all about RID and the issues we had with it previously.
If we're already debating how to reorganize RID, I don't get why my posts—where I'm just sharing my thoughts on what to watch out for over on the PZK subforum—are being flagged as off-topic... 🤷

Plus, I honestly don't see any trolling in my posts... 🤷

brightpuma, I've already mentioned this to you, but I'll say it one more time:
whatever happened back at RID is ancient history now!
okay?
you should come see for yourself.

and honestly, I don't really get why you're digging up the past—it feels like you're just pulling old skeletons out of the closet to make a point—but what exactly are you trying to say?
We've already laid out our direction for change and shared our vision, yet you still seem stuck on how things used to be 🤷
