whatever happened back at RID is ancient history now!
okay?
you should come see for yourself.

and honestly, I don't really get why you're digging up the past—it feels like you're just pulling old skeletons out of the closet to make a point—but what exactly are you trying to say?
We've already laid out our direction for change and shared our vision, yet you still seem stuck on how things used to be 🤷

Will do. 😉

I honestly don't get why you're digging up the past. Why bring up old skeletons just to say what?

Well, Nicholas King basically put me on the spot, so I felt like I had to respond. 🤷
Plus, I wanted to point out where the issue actually was. Maybe I overdid it, sure, but I was genuinely frustrated with how things were running.
🙂

We already laid out the direction we're headed and shared our vision, yet you're still clinging to how things used to be. 🤷

My bad.

So, as it stands...
There still seems to be a tendency to dogpile on the newcomers. ☕
Take the thread regarding "Raising" someone else's child
It went from a simple issue involving an indifferent sister-in-law to labeling the author as a potentially unfit future parent, claiming she doesn't even like kids, and constructing a full psychological profile of the family dynamics, and so on.
Sure, she was being difficult. But I suppose one doesn't necessarily need to be torn apart like that. 🤷

Ugh... not just that. Now I actually regret even clicking on this thread. It’s always the same when I stumble onto topics where parents from my generation are branded as bad, lazy, or impatient just because they occasionally dared to discipline their kids.

Whatever, I don't care anymore. I was naive enough to talk about how RID is "a bright spot right now." Turns out it's the exact same old story, just with different people involved. 🙄

RID is absolutely wonderful! I’m truly thrilled about it. It feels so refreshing to finally see discussions that move beyond just infants and toddlers. I’ve always found myself dropping by, but lately, I haven't seen much addressing teenagers or young adults—it’s almost as if we stop being parents once our kids hit those higher elementary grades. Or perhaps it's because we never really stop being children ourselves as long as our own parents are still with us. Way to go!🙂

Look, I don't see you or anyone else actually hitting the report button 🤷
so why the fuss? Besides, weren't almost all threads similar to this one back in the day—you know, the usual pile-ons, random chats, or workplace drama? So, I say what I say, and I feel pretty justified in saying that things on RID just aren't what they used to be. If a handful of posts make you think nothing has changed, well, I guess that’s just your perception, not necessarily the view held by most others.

It seems like nothing is ever quite right. Like, when there was that massive cleanup over the summer because everything was such a mess—people complained that the bans were rolled out way too fast.
Now, we have this tendency to try and de-escalate things with warnings instead of handing out bans left and right, and suddenly *that* isn't good enough either.

At the end of the day, the topic at hand is the reorganization of RID—not just one single thread on this entire forum.

Look, see,
whatever your take is on that kind of "discipline," you can be certain that backing it up here won't earn you any sympathy or approval.
Not with anyone involved.

That’s not even a parenting method... 🤷
if someone is disciplining a child with physical force, sure, they need consequences... but let's not wander off-topic. the truth is, if you look at that specific law—assuming we're taking it literally in this context—it’s so full of loopholes that most people don't even realize it.

If I see that the admin and moderator have left a warning on the thread, then I assume the "responsible" parties are reading it—that they’ve seen what's being written and chose not to react, which implies they think everything is fine. If that's the case, I suppose there's little point in reporting posts, right?

It isn't just my perception, 🤷 (to be clear, brightpuma noticed it here too, and I know a few others who feel similarly, however hollow that may sound ☕ )
And I didn't say that nothing has changed, just that it's probably not entirely a thing of the past.☕

Again, it's always something...
If we used to issue bans for things like "What on earth is happening, who knows?" with 100 points and a three-day lockout (I know at least two people who got straight permanent bans for stuff like that ☕), but today we don't ban for comments like "sorry about your kid" or calling someone paranoid—well, neither approach seems to work perfectly.☕
By the way, you know as well as I do that the previous issues were due to banning people for trivialities, not because the crackdown was too sudden.
But I guess that really is in the past, and there's likely no sense in digging it up now.😉

I suppose I agree. I'm not saying things haven't improved, but maybe it’s not entirely behind us either. This is a fresh thread, and the moderators saw it and let it develop in this—well, this specific direction.☕
It isn't just about whether women are being ganged up on or targeted; I think it's also about how much the moderators allow it and for whom. Before last fall's cleanup, this kind of thing happened, and I suspect it still does.☕
If breaking the rules regarding violence is punishable, then perhaps breaking the rules regarding insults should be as well.

All five 👍
I only started reading this once it moved over to RID, so I'm honestly not sure exactly when the move took place.
However, this and this post were both written after the RID moderators issued a warning, so it seems safe to assume the thread was already on RID by then.☕

Look, let's be honest—every rulebook is full of loopholes 😉
The global forum guidelines state that we're supposed to follow our wonderful rules across the board.
And that includes over at RID.
It’s not like we just made this rule up because of Rod 😬

What’s actually best? I suppose I wasn't even referring to that part of the story. 😬
It’s honestly quite amusing to watch people attempt to issue diagnoses and perform psychoanalysis based on just two or three posts. I guess it's a fascinating hobby. ☕

If rules are being broken, I suppose it’s up to the moderators to step in, whether that means issuing a warning or a ban.
We shouldn't allow this kind of collective outrage, insults, or targeted harassment against the author. 🤷

So, did anyone actually say anything?!
Did you read the whole thread or just the first few posts?!

Well, there was some reaction, I suppose. But the posts where people are still mocking, judging, and being insulting are still up (and, sorry, telling someone they’ll be a bad parent ahead of time is an insult). brightpuma left, read the thread, and had the same impression, if I recall correctly ☕
The posts expressing "pity" for her child and questioning what kind of life they'll have are also still there.
To be clear, I don't entirely agree with the OP, nor do I think she did anything right in this whole situation. I'm just saying that the claim "what used to be on RID is now a thing of the past!" doesn't really hold water ☕
That's just how the welcome to the forum goes, I guess. 👍

Look, just because that law passed doesn't mean we can immediately start labeling parents who raise their kids that way as lazy, irresponsible, or impatient. Right? It's not that simple.

Good grief, most people over the age of 20 were raised exactly like that—myself included. Personally, I think my parents were amazing. They disciplined me physically a few times, sure, but looking back, I feel like I earned it. It actually feels a bit insulting when people imply that because they used physical discipline once or twice, they’re automatically bad parents. Is that really how we judge someone now? 🤷

Good grief... I honestly thought you all were just churning out three pages of ridiculous suggestions because the term "playroom" sounded so incredibly stupid—but then I actually looked at this... and I can't even begin to wrap my head around what's happening here.

This whole business with the yellow cards and dragging people into arguments is honestly infuriating.

The only thing this accomplishes is encouraging everyone else to jump into the pile of ad hominem attacks—unless, of course, that’s perfectly acceptable as long as some female moderator is nodding along in agreement?

Look, moderator decisions have absolutely nothing to do with you.
But since I already explained this to brightpuma via DM, I might as well lay it out here for everyone:
The yellow card was issued simply because the user is brand new and this was her first infraction.
That’s really all there is to it.

And just to reiterate—this thread is about the reorganized RID.
If anyone has an issue with a specific topic, or feels like someone's moderation style is off, please—just open a new thread.
This is starting to get exhausting.
I come in here hoping maybe someone will suggest something actually useful, but instead, it's just constant nitpicking.🙄

What you just wrote—well, maybe six months ago—would have been enthusiastically backed by the administration, likely accompanied by a few "get lost" comments from the regular users. A lot has changed since then—or perhaps nothing has changed at all?

It seems you’ve essentially poured all those supposed efforts toward change down the drain—either you're being unnecessarily boastful, or you simply don't grasp what "doesn't concern you" actually means. If moderator decisions don't concern the users, then who on earth are they for? Aside from the fact that users directly bear the consequences of moderator actions, these decisions also dictate the very atmosphere of a specific PDF—which absolutely concerns the people inhabiting that forum. BTW, a "moderation overhaul" falls squarely under a "RID overhaul"—the entire look of RID and the community's willingness to RID depends heavily on how things are moderated.

If you want to start a thread about changes you're excited about, feel free to post it on RID itself—this is PZK, where people are routinely directed when they need to get PZK-ed.

I would appreciate an official statement from the administration regarding Lunin's sentence.

Most seriously.

Do you honestly believe that I—or any other moderator for that matter—should be forced to explain the specific color of every single card or the reasoning behind why a certain card was chosen today?
Or am I supposed to run everything by the forum users first to get their approval on which card to release?

Decisions like those are handled internally among the moderators, if they even need to be discussed at all.
And within that context, the statement "moderator decisions do not concern you" was made.

Besides, the PZK isn't just a place for filing complaints and whining.😉

Maybe save the sarcasm and passive-aggressiveness for someone else—unless you're looking for a volunteer to sit there and endure it without complaint.

No one actually asked for an "explanation for every single penalty"—I was simply making a calm, good-faith observation about where this path leads, specifically how getting bogged down in debates over yellow cards will likely backfire on everyone involved.

and in that context, it was stated that "moderator decisions don't concern you."

It wasn't framed within some deep context; it was presented as a standalone sentence. To a post that can essentially be summarized as "these warnings and debating them will cause a backlash," your response was "moderator decisions don't even concern you."

and, this forum isn't just for appeals and whining 😉

I have never once complained, and frankly, I can't even recall my own previous appeals. Even this note regarding the warnings was intended as a suggestion, though perhaps you failed to see it that way.

I am still maintaining my request for an official statement from the administration regarding the comment: "Look, moderator decisions don't even concern you."
