😒

Look, this PDF in the title is a mess when it comes to moderation. We've got 4(!!!!) registered moderators listed, but 3 of them—Moses, slytinker11, and Fortaleza!!!!—haven't shown their faces or actually moderated anything in forever. Honestly, I don't think we even need more than 2, maybe 3, as long as they actually show up and do the work!
Louis (my favorite) does a great job, but he can't carry the whole thing on his own.

In my opinion, those three should have their authority stripped and handed over to people who actually care.

Please take my suggestion into account to improve the quality of this PDF and, ultimately, the entire forum.

The active users hanging out in our little sub-forum mostly agree with me, which is just one more reason to actually do something about this. This whole place wouldn't even function without the users anyway... ☕

Thanks and best regards! 🙂

As the guy who first suggested we get our own tennis PDF, I’m fully backing my young, untainted colleague Maria here!

I’m in favor of this proposal. 👍

Louis can stay put—but as a co-moderator, I’m also putting my vote in for slytinker11. Let the will of the people be heard. 🥳

Regarding the absence of the moderation team, that’s really an internal matter for them, and the administration will step in to make changes if and when they feel it's actually necessary. We’re fully aware that some folks haven't been around for a while, but I really appreciate you flagging it for us.
As for making improvements to the PDF, I'd suggest gathering your thoughts and starting a dedicated thread specifically for those ideas—simply saying "it needs to be different" doesn't give us much to work with. Please try to bring a bit more constructive feedback when you're opening new topics. Thanks!

Edit: You're also welcome to drop your suggestions right here in this thread, but please, let's keep it specific—tell us exactly what needs changing and how we can improve the PDF.

I already started typing you a DM asking why the hell this thread was locked.

Fine, whatever..

Look, sorry, but I don't think you actually get what's going on here. The actual proposal and the reasoning behind it were laid out right in the first post.

Is "the subforum is a mess because the moderators are MIA" really not a good enough reason? 🤣And hey, their absence is their own business, I guess.

Look, Louis needs some backup, period. Let the current mods stay inactive if they want—that's their private life, fine. But it’s our problem when nobody reacts to reported posts.. It means the whole subforum is falling apart... etc.

Sorry, but me opening this topic and posting a real suggestion was way more constructive than your reply.

So, the bottom line is: we want a new moderator who actually shows up! Someone active—because being absent is their own damn business!

Thanks a lot 🎉

There’s nothing acidic going on here, and the rest of the moderation team is active and keeping things under control. If they’re feeling spread too thin, then sure, they should definitely look into bringing on some extra help.

Please, tell me exactly what you mean when you say things are "in a mess"—I'd love for you to be a bit more specific about the actual problems you're seeing.

I’ve got a concrete suggestion here: Louie needs some serious backup.

And I don't mean just some random person whose name is only there to take up space on the roster.

Look, it’s all well and good that some of you want to play the hero and try to brighten my day 🙂, but let’s be real—that kind of "love" doesn't actually get anything done. 🙂

I’m totally with Luke on this—it would be great if we picked someone active who everyone actually knows. So, I’m putting my money on Lyra. From what I can see, she hasn't been caught up in any major drama or scandals in her history here. 🙂

Please tell me you're joking. Moderators have responsibilities regarding the PDFs; they can't just walk away and still hold the position.

We are looking for a moderator who will be constantly active—as that is a core requirement—someone accessible, and someone we can actually coordinate with. With all due respect to Louie, he follows men's tennis much more closely, and we need to establish some balance here. For instance, the ATP Pick is a major topic, whereas the WTA Pick isn't (ATP is men, WTA is women).🙂 We agreed that it should be slytinker11.

Fortaleza might be active in handball, skiing, or whatever other random sports exist, but when it comes to tennis, he hasn't been around much lately.
Moses is the same way. If he only shows up once every six months, all you can leave is this: 🤣(I have no clue why he even has moderation duties given he isn't qualified)

Those aren't moderators to me! If just being present on the forum is the only requirement for moderation, then fine, great! But those moderators should actually show their faces!

Basically: the subforum itself is totally unbalanced.
nobody reacts to reported posts
nobody reacts to appeals to make certain threads stickies

Quite frankly, Louie just can't do it (he can claim he can, but the facts say otherwise), and everyone else is just nowhere to be found! They aren't in the tennis section! They aren't accessible... you practically need to send them a telegram to get a hold of them...

I'm not suggesting slytinker11 because she knows her stuff, and moderation would just limit her potential.

I suggest Greco!

Alright, I'm going to wait and see what he and the rest of the moderation team think about all this—I'm curious to see who they actually end up considering a strong candidate.

Nicole Anderson55 said:The moderators have a serious responsibility when it comes to the PDF files, and they can't just walk away from that role whenever they feel like it. It’s not something you can just drop without consequences.

You’re absolutely right, they definitely have responsibilities to uphold. As for when they might be moved out of moderation, that’s entirely up to the administration. Honestly, let's just leave it at that—it's not really what we're here to debate, and I don't want us getting sidetracked by it.

In my opinion, Greco lacks the stability required for moderation. He doesn't hold firm stances and rarely pushes back, which means we'd likely all end up suffering during his inevitable meltdowns. (No offense, Greco, you know I'm on your side 😍)...

So, it should be either slytinker11, or if she isn't interested, then Lyra.

silverdrifter24 said:nobody is reacting to the reported posts

Well, looking at it from my side, we run into issues with this every now and then where reports just don't seem to go through properly. If you don't mind me saying, if there's a really specific issue on the forum and the moderators haven't picked up on your report via the little icon, it might actually be a good idea to just shoot one of them a direct message. It might help things move along faster.

silverdrifter24 said:nobody reacts to appeals to make a certain thread a 'sticky'

Ultimately, it’s up to the moderators of that specific forum to decide which threads get pinned as stickies.

silverdrifter24 said:and the others simply aren't here! they aren't on the tennis forums!

I actually went ahead and checked how much they moderate over on the tennis boards, and I'll definitely take a closer look at that.

rustydrifter10 said:Regarding that, we run into glitches sometimes and reports don't always go through. If it isn't too much trouble, it might be a good idea to just DM one of the moderators if there’s a specific issue with a PDF and they haven't responded to the report button...

The moderators for that PDF decide which threads get pinned.

I checked how much they moderate over on the tennis board, I'll dig a little deeper.

Yeah, that report button can lag or just fail entirely, but the moderators are supposed to be here to track user achievements and crack down on insults. I know that's how other subforums operate... 😉

If one topic is pinned at the top (ATP) and another isn't (WTA), I think it only makes sense for them both to be pinned or neither... 🤣
We aren't asking to pin some random chat thread or something totally useless for navigation. But fine.

Fine.

Things definitely need to change. My vote is either Lyra or Agassi.

Agassi-top pick... stays on top of things, keeps it real, and I think they'd crush the role.
Lyra-runner up... active on the forums, doesn't go looking for drama or fights.

I don't think Maria really has the drive for it, though she wouldn't be a bad choice. ☕

As for anyone else, I honestly don't see them pulling it off...☕

But actually, they're both sticky.

hehe, rustydrifter10... we're talking picks here... I've got my ATP Picks (tables, predictions) and my WTA Picks (tables, predictions), hehe 🙂

Anyway, let's move on from that...

Keep us posted on the results. Hoping for a win at the finish line 🙂

Exactly! You hit the nail on the head—reporting things is really just a way to help out. Even with the best intentions, moderators might miss something here and there, which is exactly why we have them; they're here to catch our attention when something isn't right. Do you happen to have a link to those insults that haven't been dealt with yet? 🙂

Larry Sanchez7 said:Agassi—first choice... also active, objective, and I think he’d handle the role well.
Lyra—second choice... active on the forum, doesn't lean toward conflict.

It’s not that I’m saying this to discredit your "main" candidate, per se, but Agassi being objective? 🤣
I think even he would have a good laugh at that suggestion. 🤣

I suppose since you joined the forum, Raf hasn't played much—so you haven't had the chance to witness his posts regarding Gaćopotezač. 🥳
But Shemale was mentioned several times; I’m not sure how you missed that. 🤔

Perhaps he could manage to suppress his disdain for the massive player pool if he were a moderator—objectively penalizing both those who insult Raf and those who insult Federer, or say, Agassi—but frankly, I'm not convinced. 🙂

Are you talking about this thread? If we wanted to make another one a sticky to match this one, which topic do you all think deserves it?

silverdrifter24 said:Let us know how the results turn out!

I went ahead and removed slytinker11 since he hasn't been around for a while. It’s not like I wasn't aware—I actually sent him a message a couple of weeks ago, but honestly, I was going to clear him out sometime this week regardless. I do check in on moderation activity from time to time.

@ rustydrifter10

It's tough to provide a direct link to insults when they aren't being moderated.
It happens in waves sometimes. I don't want to sound politically incorrect, but it really ramps up during the Grand Slams, especially whenever Djokovic is playing. You get these little provocations from his supporters—mostly just certain users on this forum with specific backgrounds.
You only have to skim through the Grand Slam threads or the discussions about the players to see it. A huge chunk of the debate turns into "us versus them," which gets pretty tricky to navigate.
There’s plenty of joking around, sure, but there's also—forgive me—this constant mocking that sits right on the edge of exploding into something we definitely shouldn't be seeing here.
That's just one example, I guess..
