This guy Rocky won't even touch the subject of Ukraine—it’s honestly embarrassing. He just selectively bans people and nukes any posts that don't fit his narrative. Clearly dealing with some major Russian inferiority complex here.

How many times do I have to say it? It's completely unprofessional to jump into a debate as a biased participant while also acting as the moderator. It’s a textbook conflict of interest. A moderator is supposed to be neutral and keep things balanced between both sides.

Basically, it's a total joke.

Someone told me to start a new thread, so I'm not sure if I should be using this one instead.

Anyway, I’m on board with what was said. Let Rocky moderate some other sub-forum. Maybe the women's corner. Or Film. But here on the PDF world, he acts exactly like the people I have on my ignore list—except, because he's a moderator, I can't actually block him.

The guy churns out the same amount of nonsense and trolling as Michael Collins. He's completely immune to logic or actual arguments. It wouldn't even be an issue if he wasn't a moderator and I could just hit the ignore button.

Moderators are totally allowed to jump into the discussion too. Look, you're getting a warning from me for this specific post because it breaks our subforum rules.

Article 6.
• If you’re posting stuff in a foreign language, you absolutely have to include a quick summary in English! You don't need to translate every single word—just grab the main point in one or two sentences. Posts without a summary might end up being deleted.
• Links aren't a substitute for actual writing. When you drop a link, you need to give us a little context—like the title, a summary, or a key quote. We need to know why that page actually matters to the conversation.

Also, I flagged you yesterday for trolling when you wrote
that the model is the Heroin Republic of Mexico.

And gentlemarlin, you're getting a warning from me on that thread, specifically back on March 6th for this... just like what happened back in February when you were insulting other users. Telling someone they aren't stupid, but just "mentally backward," is nothing but an insult and a useless ad hominem attack...

Not to mention all those posts that got wiped out because they deserved warnings but didn't get them.

Best,

How many times do we have to go over this? It’s fundamentally unprofessional to jump into a debate as a biased participant while also acting as the moderator—it's a textbook conflict of interest. A moderator's entire job is to stay neutral and maintain the balance between both sides of the argument.

The whole thing is just a sad comedy.

I'm with you on that.
goldenowl73, look, there's absolutely nothing wrong with you joining the conversation, but if we're talking about basic fairness, you really ought to step back from moderating since you clearly have a side in this particular topic.

Oh please, that’s probably the best description of Michael Collins I've ever heard. LOL 🙂

(But we already hashed that out in a DM, and I don't have any beef with that cardboard.)

I'm done here, but I'd appreciate it if you could just use a separate account when posting on the PDF world (like "Rock 2" or something) so I can actually put you on Ignore. Thanks.

I’m still sitting here waiting for the admins to weigh in on how goldenowl73 was handled. Honestly, I got slapped with an undeserved warning just because I called out his trolling—he went ahead and deleted the post, sure, but he also flagged me. The reason they gave? "Harassment." As if! There was absolutely no harassment happening; the guy was reported twice for straight-up trolling, yet there hasn't been any actual response from the mods. It’s absolute madness—total North Korea vibes over here.

You guys be the judge.

Look, I already told you once: you only picked up a minimum 10-point penalty for calling someone out as a troll, when honestly, if we were being strict, it should have been at least 30. If you’ve got a problem with someone trolling, just send a private message to the mods instead of blowing up a thread about Ukraine.

You didn't actually say anything at all—you just hid your trolling by deleting the post.

Now we're just waiting on the admin to make a call.

I have to agree, unfortunately. goldenowl73 is doing a terrible job moderating this thread. I just got a cardboard for trolling because of this where I wrote "And then there was a rat..." when I could have easily written "That's a fabrication," which means the exact same thing. Would that have been considered trolling too?
So, first off, users in the Ukraine thread are allowed to drop off-topic posts about Iraq without being penalized for being off-topic, yet making fun of those posts gets you flagged for trolling? Where is the logic in that? 🤷

Then, I get another cardboard for trolling due to this post, where I'm once again mocking nonsense being spewed by a user in a quoted post. That quoted post was actually a response to my previously carded post. So, essentially, goldenowl73 isn't following his own moderation rules because

1) he didn't card the user who quoted my carded post
2) he cards my post, which is just me responding to that unpunished post
3) he DOESN'T card, for a second time, the user quoting my second carded post!!

Look, if he had carded post 1), my post 2) wouldn't even exist because I know the rules—but instead, I get carded for it! 🙂 And then I'm the one getting disqualified while the user I'm debating gets a free pass.

It’s clearly bad moderation, whether you call it subjective or not, since the moderator and I are on opposite sides here.

How is this thread supposed to be moderated "easily"? Off-topic comments are being let slide, yet it's forbidden to tell people they are spreading lies and falsehoods. So how are we supposed to respond to people who insist on doing that, other than through sarcasm and mockery?

Let me ask: is mocking people who persistently spout things that have zero connection to reality now also banned?

What way is left to react to posts that ignore the facts and repeat them hundreds of times, even after they've been debunked over and over again? If you can't call them lies or fabrications, does that mean you aren't even allowed to laugh at them anymore?

Are we just supposed to tolerate that kind of stuff? 🤷

Thanks to goldenowl73's "quality" moderation, where I've been slapped with two heavy cardboards in under half an hour without a single warning or heads-up (and anyone can check my history to see how many I've actually earned), I am one step away from a ban. Honestly, I don't even dare participate in this topic anymore. 🤷

In short, I've basically been silenced, 🙂 along with plenty of others. Just look at how many users on the other side have received that many cardboards?

I’m asking the moderators to please weigh in here. We really need a level playing field with the rules. Everyone knows what trolling looks like, so if you've decided to tighten the moderation on this thread, please apply those standards to everyone equally rather than just targeting one side.

To wrap things up, I'll share a post that was sent my way from that thread. It should give you a clear idea of what kind of discussions are actually happening and why certain posts end up getting a cardboard warning for trolling or whatever else...

No, you're totally missing the point. They introduced democracy and gave sovereignty back to the people, and the fallout has been hundreds of thousands dead and millions displaced. Freedom and sovereignty come with a price.
When you strip power away from a minority regime, they rarely go quietly; instead, they often turn to violence. That’s exactly what happened with the Iraqi Sunnis.

If I were to respond to a comment like that, I'd probably get hit with a cardboard warning for being insulting immediately.

I've been following the thread on Ukraine, and I really don't see it your way. Everyone just gathered here to throw around ad hominem attacks. Since you lack actual arguments, you come over here to whine instead. At the end of the day, the moderator is a human being with his own opinions, just like any other user on this forum.
No Rhodes, no leap. If you want to fight, do it right in the main thread. Disprove goldenowl73 with real facts rather than coming here to complain and ask for help. You guys are acting like children in a preschool.🙄

goldenowl73, look, there's nothing wrong with you joining the debate, but it would be fair if you stepped back from moderating since you're clearly biased on this topic.

A moderator is entitled to an opinion just like any other user here. As for the moderation itself, I haven't seen goldenowl73 handing out warnings to people who don't deserve them. You guys really need to get it together and realize that ad hominem attacks aren't actual arguments—that kind of stuff gets flagged on every forum out there, including this one.
Please stop the insults and the personal attacks against our colleague Michael Collins.
If anyone actually has grounds to complain about how things are being run, it's me, because your crew called me a Nazi. That's exactly why I had to start a separate thread in this PDF world.
Stop whining and try to take Michael Collins, myself, and the rest of the users on with actual, solid arguments instead.
We’d really appreciate it if you could do that without all the yelling, the insults, and the cheap shots.☕

You’re easily the biggest troll in this whole Ukraine thread. I’m typing this on my phone, so I can't link your specific posts right here, but trust me—they've been reported a billion times already. Yet, somehow, I’ve never once seen you get hit with a cardboard warning because you’re always echoing everything goldenowl73 says. You two are just out there trolling together without any consequences.
So, basically, you can say whatever you want even if someone calls you an extremist, but the second we point out how the moderators are trolling or selectively deleting posts, suddenly we're the ones being silenced.🤣

So, you're totally fine with it when someone calls you a fascist, but the second we point out how the mods are trolling or selectively deleting posts, suddenly we're the ones in trouble.🤣

That's incorrect. I actually got a warning too.
By the way, there's no comparison between your insults, your constant belittling, and your attempts to discredit people (calling them names) versus anything else. Honestly, the title of this thread tells you everything you need to know about you guys (red goldenowl73). You insult the moderators and try to disqualify everyone.
It doesn't surprise us at all, though—that's just your whole modus operandi.

If anyone here has a legitimate reason to complain about moderation, it’s me, because your group actually called me a fascist. That's exactly why I had to start a whole separate thread in this PDF world.
Stop whining and try to defeat Michael Collins, myself, and the rest of the users using actual, logical arguments instead.
We would be very grateful if you could stop shouting, stop the insults, and stop resorting to ad hominem attacks.☕

My "group"? Who, exactly? Ivy, grandma, Daniel? I'll be sure to mention to them over a beer later today how inappropriate that was.
Look, I don't have a "group" on this forum. On the thread about Ukraine, I disagree with you and MC, and on plenty of other threads, I disagree with both of you. Does that suddenly make us a coordinated squad? Does it?
Calling people fascists or using ad hominem attacks is just as tedious and exhausting as calling people sympathizers of Maddox or Hitler.
I’m all for the moderation being strict—really, I am—but the rules have to be applied equally to everyone. It shouldn't be a situation where one person racks up 500 points while someone else gets slapped with a zero for something even more egregious.

I’m going to chalk those comments about insults and ad hominem attacks up to your own mistake, because they couldn't possibly apply to me or my circle; I don't play those games, and my friends aren't even on this forum, as far as I know.🙂

PS: Obviously, a moderator is allowed to have an opinion. That goes without saying. It’s just that when a thread splits into two main opposing sides fighting with data and links (and occasionally with insults and ad hominem🙂), it might be easier for Rock to just step back from the moderator role for a moment and argue like everyone else. It would take the pressure off him—he could actually engage with the topic rather than feeling like he has to police every single participant, and then everyone walks away happy.

Here’s a hilarious little scenario: Tutankhamun and The Gipper are getting into it in the off-topic section, arguing over whether Americans are actually hungry.

Tut tells The Gipper:

He drops a link and basically asks if he even knows how to use Google.

The Gipper responds:

He just posts a link to some chubby kid eating at McDonald's and writes, "I know."

When I saw that, I nearly died laughing because his big, brilliant argument for why Americans aren't hungry was literally a photo of one of the most obese people on the planet.
By total coincidence, the kid is Russian.😁

So, I chime in:

I ended up getting slapped with 30 points for breaking the subforum rules, but honestly, no big deal—I'm not even complaining.

But seriously, where is the impartiality in all this?
The post I replied to wasn't even flagged, nor were any of the other comments that led me to jump in.

So, who hands me the penalty? Well, goldenowl73, obviously.😁

Oh, sure. I guess we should just disqualify anyone who doesn't see eye to eye with you. Everyone knows exactly what "hate speech" means, right? Honestly, the warning and the points were totally justified.
I’ve been handed a warning before too, so trust me, I’m not here to whine about it. I’ll always stand up for everyone's right to speak their mind. goldenowl73 has that same right as you or me. And look, goldenowl73 isn't the only moderator jumping into these debates—most of the mod team does the same thing.
You can call Collins names, call me a fascist, and think you’re getting away with it. You aren't.☕
Nobody on goldenowl73's team got a warning without earning it.
It seems like your whole goal is just to create anarchy on this forum so you can insult people without any consequences. That's not going to work.☕

It’s hardly a shocker, though, since that seems to be your whole playbook.

Are you actually having some kind of breakdown here? What "teams" are you even talking about? Most of my posts are actually backed by logic, whereas with yours... well, let's just say when you start trying to defend America from all the way out in Berlin, I can't help but burst out laughing—so I might drop a post that isn't perfectly polite and take the hit for it, while you just sit there trolling nonstop. You hijack a thread, and the moment someone actually gives you an answer, you go silent only to pop back up later with some other ridiculous trolling claim. And of course, it all slides right past Rock Prč without any consequences.
