Ashley Kern said:A larger circle of people? Sure, if you mean the handful of people supporting you—maybe five or six of you. I’m sorry, but that isn't a "larger circle," nor does it serve as much of an argument. With that comment, you've simply shown that you aren't capable of having a constructive conversation.
A larger circle than the group of people who actually provided me with feedback? In reality, the only one who disagreed was Henry Lee84, and even then, it wasn't due to a lack of comprehension, but rather because he disputes the veracity of certain facts.
Admittedly, if I weigh those ten people offering positive feedback against a potential audience of six billion readers, I suppose I can't really claim to be speaking to a massive crowd.
If something wasn't clear to you, why not just ask? When clarity is lacking, it is only natural that it might come across as trolling or provocation.
As for the matter of constructive conversation, I find myself asking you again—in what specific part of this discussion have I failed to hold my own? I am asking you to provide a concrete explanation of where exactly you believe I haven't proven my point. Which syllogism or which particular fact strikes you as weak? Until you can elaborate on those details for me, how am I supposed to offer you a more detailed response?
Ashley Kern said:I'm not trolling. You are avoiding the question again. Is there constant trolling in the La Liga thread? Yes, and why do you deny it? You constantly dodge the issue and refuse to address it. Is it really so difficult for you to admit that you are exaggerating?
It is simply not true that there is constant trolling. That is a falsehood, and you know it. It is true that there is more mutual ribbing here than in other threads, but that is merely a reflection of the sheer number of supporters for the two biggest clubs—the most intense rivalry in the world today—and perhaps a slightly more emotional display of loyalty than we see in other rivalries. For heaven's sake, the El Clásico rivalry is intense enough to cause actual skirmishes in the Middle East; what other international derby can say the same?
Every thread is a mirror of the current state of its respective league or club, whether it's La Liga, the MLS, the Premier League, or the Dinamo Chicago thread.
And yes, there is more trolling and off-topic chatter in the La Liga thread during the off-season when there are no matches, but if that weren't the case, the thread would be practically dead—much like the other league threads—unless we count darkmarlin16 following Deportivo La Coruña with his dry one-liners.
But that is just La Liga; it is what it is. And that very nature is what has drawn in many users who didn't previously post here regularly. Yet, no one talks about that—instead, the focus remains on those "who can't write," whoever they may be.
If an alternative is desired, there is no problem there; we have suggested it many times. However, if a separate thread were to open, I would hope that all those currently making a fuss would have enough intellectual honesty to stay away from it, choosing instead to stick to the "normal" topics. Those topics will likely only see twenty or thirty posts in an entire representative week—and that's assuming the people who usually don't contribute decide to chime in.
