Emily Patel64 said:But maybe Kimi bears a little blame for what happened with Perez, doesn't he?

In my opinion, he’s not even 1% at fault.
Perez was just way too optimistic when he dove into that tiny gap left open.
You can't brake that late and then expect the driver ahead of you to adjust their line just to fix your mistake.
If Perez had been trailing behind him for a while with his Williams lined up with the rear tire of kimijev, then sure, I might see it differently. But when you suddenly lung forward like that, it's a whole different story.
Some people are bringing up how part of his car was already level with kimijev, but that only happened right at the moment of impact. It's a stretch to expect Kimi to have reacted any differently in that split second.

Congratulations to the winners; that victory was absolutely earned. As someone already pointed out, Alonso spent most of the race just trying to avoid a collision with Perverz... though, honestly, he likely would have been overtaken regardless. The car simply wasn't up to par today. Was it due to yesterday's rain, did the competition make significant strides, or was there an underlying technical issue? It is difficult to say. However, does the result not strongly suggest that Merđo has gained a specific advantage through their extensive tire testing? What are your thoughts? At the end of the day, those extra miles on the track have to count for something.

Does anyone know how this is gonna hit Sergio Perez?

Give me a break.🤣
Other drivers get hit with a pit lane speeding penalty, or Ferrari spends half an hour negotiating whether to give a position back or not.🤦

He’s already out of the hospital, though. Injuries aren't that bad.

Other drivers get penalized with a pit stop, yet Ferrari gets this ridiculous chance to reclaim a position—and they even spend half an hour negotiating whether or not they should actually take it.🤦

I can't wait for everyone to start tearing Ferrari apart.🤣

It truly baffles me how Ferrari and Red Bull Racing would actually file an official protest against Mercedes, especially when even the casual fans can't stand each other and are constantly provoking one another...

In my view, the best move would have been for Fernando Alonso to simply crush Kimi Räikkönen; frankly, I don't think he should have even received a penalty, but I suppose everything is being orchestrated to serve Sebastian Vettel.🤦

Anyway, Kimi's getting flagged by the stewards...
It’s a total toss-up, but apparently he was speeding during the SC...

So those points would be under question even if he hadn't bumped into Sergio Perez...
The kid is a bit of a loose cannon, honestly.🤦
Dammit, you can't just pull the same stunt every single time.🙂
Besides, Kimi isn't exactly an easy target to overtake like some other guys.😁
Whatever, you learn from your mistakes. The kid'll probably go out there and bully whoever he can now.😍

On another note, I'm disappointed with Red Bull again. 🙂
Screw this tire management nonsense—just drive the damn car and push!😠

Also, weirdly enough, Red Bull seems to have more trouble with the softs than the supersofts.😕
What kind of setup is that? Is the SS actually harder than the S?😵

Other drivers get hit with a pit lane penalty, while Ferrari spends half an hour debating whether their guy should actually give the position back or not...🤦

Where on earth have you seen other drivers getting penalized with a pit stop just for cutting a chicane?
You've got it all mixed up...

Brian Campbell36 said:I can't wait for everyone to start trashing Ferrari🤣

It’s wild to me that Ferrari and Red Bull Racing actually teamed up for an official protest against Mercedes, considering how much "regular fans" absolutely loathe each other and constantly stir the pot...

Ideally, Fernando Alonso should have just "crushed" Kimi Räikkönen. Personally, I don't think he even deserved a penalty, but hey, I guess everything is being done to help Sebastian Vettel.🤦

Yeah, right...
I remember plenty of times when drivers got +25 second penalties after a race for gaining an advantage by going off-track... and magically, the FIA never bothered to tell them they had to give the position back or whatever.🙄
The FIA is just so incredibly consistent, aren't they? Not at all.

You're totally making things up.

All four wheels off the track... sound familiar?

Alonso was a disaster, and Ferrari was just as bad.

Nothing else to say. Given this erratic rhythm we've seen, I’m calling it now: expect a win in Canada.

stormybadger8 said:All four wheels off the track... is that common knowledge now?

It is essential for Ferrari to take a firm stand here.🤣
This situation isn't like the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, where there was actually enough room to avoid a collision... back then, Sebastian Vettel committed a flagrant violation that earned him a 25-second penalty.

From what I can see, you would be absolutely thrilled if Fernando Alonso had just plowed right into Kimi Räikkönen, wouldn't you?🤣

Are second and third place not enough for you? Perhaps it would be better if Finger and Mark Webber just drove the cars themselves.

Yeah, I definitely know what you mean.
I think I'll just stay out of the argument this time because there really isn't much point in getting into a whole back-and-forth about it...

Exactly. I didn't even realize he'd made it to 10th until they showed the final standings on screen. That idiot director spent the whole last lap following Rosberg instead. Does anyone know if there's a replay on YouTube where you can actually see Kimi's overtake??

This isn't like the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa where you actually have room to dodge a crash... back then, Vettel committed a massive rule violation and got slapped with a 25-second penalty.

I get it, you'd love it if Alonso just absolutely wrecked Kimi... 🤣

Aren't 2nd and 3rd place enough for you? Better if Prst and Mark just drive the cars themselves.

Look, kill me now, I can't remember who or when, but I'm positive someone picked up a penalty specifically for the Nouvelle Chicane in Monaco...

In my book, this was the right call.😉
Give back the position you gained illegally and move on. What drives me crazy is how the stewards will give a break one time and penalize someone else for the exact same thing the next.
And it's not specifically about Alonso or him needing some specific penalty, whatever.😉

If you know what I mean.🙂

It's funny how Kimi went on a rant calling Pérez an idiot because he crashed into his car...
He totally forgot he slammed into Adrian Sutil at almost the exact same spot, driving in like a complete moron...😬

He seems to have forgotten that he slammed into Adrian Sutil at almost the exact same spot, driving in like a total amateur...😬

Back then, Kimi lost his car right after coming out of the tunnel; he wasn't even trying to overtake Sutil.

Comparing that to what happened today is just stupid. The situations are completely different.

If you ask me, this was actually the right call😉
Just give back the position you gained illegally and move on. What really gets under my skin is how the stewards will give one driver a chance to yield the spot, while the next one gets slapped with a penalty for the exact same thing...
I’m not talking specifically about Alonso or saying he deserved some specific punishment😉

if you catch my drift🙂

It’s also pretty funny how Kimi went off calling Pérez an idiot because he crashed into his car...
He seems to have conveniently forgotten that he plowed into Adrian Sutil at almost the exact same spot, driving like a total amateur himself...😬

Rain in 2008—it isn't the same driving in the wet versus a dry track, and Kimi simply lost control
There's footage on YouTube if you want to see...

Actually, they both lost it. 😬
That's true in other spots too—Pérez was right by his helmet.😬

Even if Kimi wasn't here today, he'd be totally innocent; if it were Pérez, he would've definitely copped a penalty.
