I’d really appreciate some insight here. For quite some time now, I’ve been dealing with some bleeding during bowel movements. It isn't a constant thing—it comes and goes—but I have noticed a pattern. Most often, it seems to flare up when the weather shifts or when it's rainy out. For instance, this past month, the bleeding was pretty much non-stop. Now, maybe I’m just overthinking things and trying to find a connection between my digestive health and the local weather forecast, but the coincidence feels a bit too strong to ignore. Just to be clear, I’m not experiencing any pain at all—neither before, during, nor after the actual movement.
Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

Doesn't sound like hemorrhoids to me. Get to a doctor ASAP.

Hey there! Has anyone here dealt with hemorrhoids before? It’s such a massive pain... honestly pretty miserable. I'm wondering if you can actually get rid of them for good or if you're just stuck trying to manage the symptoms? I've been doing a ton of reading on different treatments, but I'm definitely skeptical about whether some of these products actually work...

Is this a hemorrhoid? It’s stinging, aching, and itching... basically everything at once.
No bleeding so far.

Good afternoon. I first encountered this whole issue with hemorrhoids this past Friday... honestly, on Friday I felt like I was just slowly dying from the pain. Things have been a bit more manageable since yesterday, though my trip to the restroom this morning brought all that discomfort right back to the surface. 😢 The hardest part is definitely trying to physically get myself up after sitting down for any length of time...
I was wondering if anyone knows how long they usually stay this inflamed? :/

Hey there,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid doctor to handle a hemorrhoid exam?

Thanks a ton!

can anyone point me toward a decent doctor for a hemorrhoid exam?

Thanks a million!

You should see Dr. Davorin Velnić over at the Holy Spirit clinic—he’s there every Wednesday from 8 to 4 at the coloproctology clinic. Honestly, the guy is a massive expert in his field. Cheers. Just a heads up: you don't need an appointment, just bring your referral and you can walk right in for an exam. Good luck.

Hey,
I was posting on this thread about three years ago after undergoing a DG HAL-RAR procedure, and I ended up dealing with major complications afterward that were never actually explained to me.
I see Michael Diaz4 is still hanging around here.🙂

In the meantime, my hemorrhoid situation has been about as okay as it can be. Then, toward the end of 2011, I found out I have epilepsy. Now I’m on a bunch of meds that—unbelievably—mess with my digestion. My gut health has basically been a disaster my entire life.
Now I’m pregnant, and because this is a high-risk pregnancy, I have to add even more medications to the mix. All of this combined makes having a normal bowel movement nearly impossible, so I'm stuck with constant constipation. It hurt so bad today that I actually started panicking about whether they're coming back. Most women deal with constipation and hemorrhoids during pregnancy anyway, but I’m only in my first trimester and I'm already struggling.
I’ve tried Donat mg, eating dried prunes, taking magnesium supplements... but clearly, it's not cutting it.

After my surgery, the doctor told me straight up that the hemorrhoids wouldn't return.
Long story short, I want to know: has anyone else who had the HAL-RAR procedure dealt with a recurrence?

Maybe give Duphalac syrup a try? It's a stool softener and a mild laxative.
It's a really great option.

You can get it via prescription or just pick it up over the counter.
A 0.5L bottle is $20, while the 0.2L one is $17.

For the first couple of days, you'd take about 30-40ml, and once things start moving normally again, you can drop down to a daily dose of 10-15ml.
After that, you might not even need it for a few days. If things get hard again, just take a little more.

You'll eventually figure out which foods trigger things for you, so you'll know exactly when to take it and when to skip it.

When I was pregnant, I made sure to take probiotics every single day (alongside eating healthy, of course)—it really made a world of difference for me. Honestly, you can actually take more than what the bottle recommends, and I found that increasing the dose helped even more.

Man, this illness is a real piece of work. But I’ll beat it eventually, even if I have to live on nothing but fruit, veggies, steamed food, and water for the rest of my life...

And hey, if it turns out I need surgery, I guess I'll just go through with that too.

Hi everyone!

So, a few days ago I developed a hemorrhoid—I think it's an external one—and it's actually quite uncomfortable. It looks red and swollen, but when I touch it while applying some ointment, it feels like there's a little lump inside the swelling, so I'm wondering what the best course of action might be. It's been three days now and it hasn't really cleared up. I've naturally started using wet wipes, eating plenty of apples, chard, and spinach, drinking tons of water, and making sure to wash with cool water after every bathroom trip. What I'm most curious about is whether I should stay rested and lie down more, or if walking is better, because I've noticed that when I sleep and wake up in the morning, the swelling seems to have gone down a bit, but then it tends to flare up again during the day. I haven't made it to the doctor just yet, but if things don't improve by this weekend, I'll definitely go see one.

Thanks for the help!

I’ve been in a coma for about 6 or 7 weeks! (not counting the time I was out of it)
The last 3 weeks have been slightly better, but dealing with my daily bathroom routine—which is a literal necessity at this point—is just pure, unadulterated misery. It's enough to make you cry.
Has anyone else dealt with something this grueling? I’ve tried everything—creams, calendula, olive oil—but nothing seems to touch it...
How can I actually find some relief? 🤷

Did this last this long for anyone else? Creams aren't working, calendula, olive oil, nothing...
How can I help myself? 🤷

Try mixing 3 or 4 teaspoons of flaxseed oil into some yogurt—just a standard small individual container should do fine.

Or, you could start with a bit more at first, then scale it back to 2 teaspoons later on. You'll eventually figure out exactly how much your body needs.

You think that would actually work? I'm going to give it a shot! Thanks!

Let me know how it goes!

Just make sure you give it a really good shake.
Maybe eat just a little bit of the yogurt from the top—that way you'll have enough room for the oil and all the mixing.

I’ve been scrolling through these threads for an hour now, and honestly, I’m feeling pretty sick to my stomach. I’ve been dealing with an "external" hemorrhoid for about a month. It just showed up out of nowhere overnight and has been getting bigger ever since. Tonight, after finishing work, I went to shower and noticed some blood and lymph on my boxers. It feels like it’s right on the verge of bursting, so I’m wondering: if it does pop, will the whole thing just clear up, or am I back to square one? I haven't applied any creams or seen a doctor yet, though I do make sure to wash up after every bathroom trip. Also, can standing for long stretches actually cause hemorrhoids? My legs have been cramping up like crazy at night, probably because I spend eight hours a day on my feet at work.

I feel like it's going to burst soon, and I'm wondering—if it does pop, will it finally go away, or am I back to square one? I haven't applied anything to it or seen a doctor yet, though I do make sure to clean up thoroughly after every bathroom trip. Also, can hemorrhoids actually be caused by standing on your feet all day? My legs are killing me at night with cramps, and I think it's because I spend eight hours straight standing at work.

Take a look at my previous posts—standing for long periods under heavy strain is a massive risk factor for hemorrhoids. Basically, while humans evolved to walk on two legs, our digestive system—specifically the end of the colon and the anus—hasn't quite caught up with that adaptation. Hemorrhoids are a real threat in professions where you're constantly on your feet, like barbers or surgeons. I’ve already shared links from professors who have written extensively on this topic... It won't just vanish, but the swelling should go down once the inflammation subsides. You really ought to see a doctor so they can take a look and prescribe something for you to apply... Good luck.
EDIT: I remember an episode with Dr. Oza where he advised checking your underwear; even if you don't see visible hemorrhoids, the discharge from internal ones can leave yellow stains on your boxers by the end of the day...

Has anyone here actually tried Pilex tablets? I'm curious to hear about your experiences. Specifically, do you think they're effective for dealing with varicose veins in the legs?

I’ve been dealing with Hemic for years now—like, forever—but I usually keep things under control by making sure I stay warm and watching what I eat. But a couple of days ago, out of nowhere, I felt this sharp stinging sensation in my rectum, even though my bathroom trips have been totally fine lately (if you want me to be graphic, everything looks just like smooth mortar). As soon as that stinging hit, I slathered on some Hemic cream and it actually helped, but then this morning when I went to the bathroom... God, there was blood. And I mean a lot of blood. It felt like it was going on for an hour and a half. It’s internal; I can feel that stabbing sensation specifically on the right side inside, and honestly, I was freaking out. Has anyone else gone through something like this? I know, I know, I really should go get checked out by a doctor, but... I’m thinking maybe that internal thing just tore and the blood kept leaking until it finally finished. :/
