We’ve got a bit of a situation here... my husband is dealing with some pretty nasty hemorrhoids. It's been a rough two months for him; he's struggling every time he goes to the bathroom, and then he has to deal with applying cream just to manage the pain and stinging. It usually settles down after an hour or two, but man, that initial period is pure misery. He actually saw a doctor a while back who diagnosed him and prescribed some medicated ointment, but now he's refusing to go back. He's convinced it's going to be the absolute worst exam ever, and honestly, I'm at a loss for what to do...

Back to the doctor again. Hopefully they can prescribe something else so he isn't in so much pain...

Time will take its course. When the pain becomes truly unbearable—when he’s actually weeping from it—he’ll walk out that door on his own, probably whistling a tune, believe me. It only happens once the agony reaches a breaking point where he just can't stand it anymore. And by then, it'll already be time for the surgeon to step in.☕

He’ll be heading out tomorrow. I’ll make sure he gets there

The feedback from countless patients—especially those who actually give a damn about being healthy and functioning normally—is almost universally positive.
People often feel a subjective improvement while they are still on their very first pack 😲 (though you absolutely MUST stick to the manufacturer's instructions regarding dosage and duration!)
There was even a period where they dropped the price significantly (if my memory serves me right, back last fall 🤔), but then they hiked it right back up, riding high on the drug's clinical success.
Sure, people grumble a bit, but the moment things start "acting up" again, they run straight back to Daflon. 🙂 .
At first, there was some friction at the pharmacies if you didn't have a specific recommendation from a vascular surgeon, but they’ve loosened those criteria quite a bit since then.

I think last year Pfizer was petitioning Medicare to include it on the DL, but it looks like it didn't go through. I'm not entirely sure what the hold-up was.

Has anyone dealt with major issues after surgery, like losing bowel control and having to wear diapers and stuff?

In case anyone’s looking for Daflon, you can find it on eBay listed under the name venalex.
It’s the exact same formula, just way easier on the wallet.

How many come in a pack and what’s the damage on price? Also, how much ointment should I be using per application?

Everything you need to know—quantities, prices, all that—is right there on your receipt.
For me, it worked 100%.

Does anyone know who actually manufactures Venalex?

Daflon didn't really do much for me. I deal with internal hemorrhoids, so I just stick to using Proctolog to keep things under control. I also make sure to stay away from spicy food and hard liquor.

Elizabeth Price85 said:Hey,
I was posting on this thread about three years ago after having my DG Hal-RAR procedure, and I ended up with massive complications that were never actually explained.
Looks like Michael Diaz4 is still hanging around here.🙂

In the meantime, my hemorrhoids have been as okay as they can be. Then, late 2011, I found out I have epilepsy. Now I'm on a bunch of meds that, unfortunately, absolutely wreck my digestion. My gut health has basically been a mess my whole life.
Now I’m pregnant, and since this is a high-risk pregnancy, I have to take even more medication. All of this combined makes having a normal bowel movement nearly impossible—I'm constantly constipated. Today the pain was so bad I started panicking that things just won't move. Most women deal with constipation and hemorrhoids during pregnancy anyway, but I'm only in my first trimester.
I’ve been taking Donat mg, eating dried prunes, even using magnesium effervescents, but clearly, it's not cutting it.

After the surgery, the doctor told me the hemorrhoids wouldn't come back.
Basically, I want to know if anyone else who had the Hal-RAR procedure dealt with a recurrence.

That would be me.😢 I'm halfway through this pregnancy, and an external hemorrhoid flared up over the weekend. It's about the size of a large hazelnut and it hurts like hell. Before that, I was dealing with constipation despite everything I tried, and then the very next day I caught some stomach flu that had me hitting the bathroom 10 to 12 times. By the third day, I was rubbing on St. John's Wort oil, but nothing's shrinking it. Not to mention, I haven't had a single bowel movement since Sunday morning once the flu passed.😢
What am I supposed to do? I've still got four months until the baby comes; I can't just live like this.
Ever since that surgery three years ago when I almost bled out, I've been terrified of them. But I'm stuck with chronic constipation and nothing seems to work.
So yeah, that's the reality of them "not coming back" after Hal-RAR.🙄

Maybe you could give Duphalac a shot? It’s a syrup that works as both a laxative and a stool softener.

Or even some chamomile tea with plenty of sugar—if you do a quick search, you'll see people swear by it for constipation since it can trigger a bowel movement.
Honey in some warm tea might help too—just make sure it's lukewarm, not scalding hot.
Some prunes or figs paired with a glass of warm water could also do the trick.

@Jeremy Kern, have you tried using Fact ointment? It’s been doing wonders for me.

Anyone else seeing those TurboLax commercials popping up on TV constantly?

They claim it helps you achieve "softer and more frequent bowel movements," and apparently, "TurboLax can be used for longer periods as needed."
How much truth is there to that?

If you're dealing with thrombosed hemorrhoids, try using turmeric. Apply a compress every two hours throughout the day. I used to mix mine with lard, but olive oil works too. You can find plenty of info on this online. Good luck.

Honestly, it would be better if you just explained the process—since you clearly know what you're doing. 😉
