Greetings.
I am 47 years old, and I have already begun facing a constant battle with hemorrhoids...

My job involves driving a semi-truck, so I spend a significant amount of my time sitting behind the wheel.
At least once a year, when the symptoms become more intense, I find myself relying on various topical creams.
I recently came across a specific cream that comes from Switzerland, priced at $100. It's called GELAREX.
Has anyone here had any actual experience using this particular cream, or would it simply be a waste of money?

Hey,
I’ve got some mild hemorrhoids, probably stage 2... one is sticking out, but it's small. My doctor prescribed Detralex, but I've been on it for two weeks now and nothing has changed—if anything, it feels worse. Has anyone actually had luck with this stuff, or should I just go book an appointment with a specialist right now? I seriously just want this over with.

You really have to hammer the Detralex for a few weeks at high doses—I’m talking 3 times a day, 2 pills at once.
Personally, I go through 60 tablets over a two-week stretch. It takes a while to actually kick in, but once it does, man, it really delivers over the following two weeks...

From what I’ve read, the Butterfly Clinic uses general anesthesia, whereas Arither claims "local"—though I’m not sure if they mean spinal or just enhanced local. Feel free to DM me, thanks.

I had my procedure at Arither on February 7th—it's only been a week. Honestly, I expected to be back at work by now, but clearly, that was wishful thinking. As far as I know, the surgery itself went fine. That first day was brutal, though—pain was intense—but it's gradually tapering off. Right now, I'm just managing with Ketorolac 100 every 12 hours. Today, I had a small burst of blood—maybe 3 ml—when I thought I was just having a bowel movement. I called the chief surgeon immediately, and he called me right back. He told me not to worry, saying it can happen within the first ten days. Still, I'm terrified of the next trip to the bathroom. Am I satisfied with the results? It's too early to tell. I tried walking around more today, but apparently, I'm pushing it too soon. The doctor is actually quite accessible whenever you need him. Since I'm out in the Midwest, I have to handle everything over the phone.
I had grade 2-3 hemorrhoids that were prolapsing. They're still there until they finally clear out. The whole thing was such a constant stressor that I was always leaning toward surgery—now, I'm just praying to God that everything works out.

Personally, I tend to take sixty tablets spread over a two-week stretch. It’s one of those things where you don't feel much happening initially, but then, suddenly, about two weeks in, the relief really starts to kick in and stays with you.

Does taking Detralex cause diarrhea?
And how long does it actually take for hemorrhoids to subside after finishing a two-week course?

Greetings,
How long have you all experienced bleeding from hemorrhoids?
What is the most effective way to get this bleeding under control? I’m not dealing with intense pain at the moment, but the bleeding has been persistent for three days now. On the first day, there was an incredibly heavy amount of bleeding along with my bowel movement, but since then, it hasn't been quite as severe—though I haven't had a bowel movement since. Honestly, I am sitting here trembling, wondering what on earth is going to happen the next time I have to use the restroom. Typically, I experience this bleeding whenever I have three or four watery stools back-to-back within a single hour... interestingly enough, when things are solid, I don't seem to have any bleeding at all.

Hey there. Noticed a painful bump near my rear end the other day, and man, sitting or walking was a total nightmare. I started using some Proktis m ointment, and within a couple of days, the pain vanished. The issue is, the bump is still hanging around. Should I go see a specialist anyway, or will this thing just clear up on its own? I called Lastric in Chicago today, but their first opening isn't until May, so I'm looking elsewhere. If you guys have any leads, let me know. Thanks. 🙂

What you're describing sounds like perianal thrombosis. I dealt with a similar situation toward the end of last month, and it ended up hanging on for about 35 to 40 days. For me, the actual pain was mostly concentrated in those first 7 or 8 days, during which time I was applying Procto Sinalar and Modolex to help manage things. Since the thrombosed mass was quite large, I made sure to see my doctor about it; he basically advised me to just be patient and let nature take its course, telling me it would resolve on its own—and thankfully, it finally did.

Quick question... how long does the actual recovery from hemorrhoid surgery take?
The doctor mentioned a month... but does that mean a full month of bed rest and living on soup, or just the first week of downtime followed by a gradual return to normal?

For instance, would I be able to get back to work after 15 days? (Assuming everything heals smoothly, of course)...

Nice. Hopefully mine plays out the same way.

Also...
How should one prepare for the procedure? At the hospital, they just say nothing after midnight before surgery?
But would it be better to eat light, liquid meals for a few days beforehand to clear out the bowels? Or do they handle all that while I'm under anesthesia (pumping the stomach)? 🙂
Because we all know those first bowel movements after surgery are the absolute worst...

So, I used to deal with hemorrhoids for a while, and yeah, there was some bleeding involved.
But lately, it’s more like these protrusions that don't really pop or bleed (well, hardly ever).
They're right at the anus, and they only "pop out" when I'm actually on the toilet. Sometimes they don't just slide back in on their own, so I have to... you know, fix it manually. (Ugh, honestly, it's the only way it works).
I haven't actually seen a doctor about this yet because, let's be real, it's super awkward. 🤦
Is this still "just" hemorrhoids, or do you guys think it could be something else entirely?
I've been thinking about getting a colonoscopy, but since those are notoriously uncomfortable, I'm really dreading it.🤦

Hi,

Does anyone know the price difference for Detralex here versus in Canada?
Is it cheaper over there, and would it actually be worth making the trip?

I dealt with a perianal thrombosis so intense that the pain made it nearly impossible to even get up from my chair or bed. Not to mention how much it messed with my bathroom habits—I actually dealt with constipation for a week because I was too terrified of the pain to go. My doctors told me the thrombosis wouldn't resolve on its own and suggested a surgical incision since it was caused by a cluster of veins, but after about a month or two, it cleared up naturally just by adjusting my diet.

The doctors told me the thrombosis wasn't going away on its own and that they’d have to cut it out because of how the veins were tangled up. But then, over a month or two, it cleared right up on its own just by changing what I ate.

What kind of diet?

Anyone know if Detralex is cheaper here than in Canada?
Is it worth driving over there just to grab some?

Not really... maybe $2 or $3 less on a 60-pack. It's annoying they don't even carry bulk sizes here anymore, just the 60-packs or smaller. If you're lucky enough to find the massive 180-count box somewhere, that's actually the best deal—costs a bit more than two 60-packs combined...

Anyone know the damage for an operation at Arither?
Does anyone have a ballpark figure for what they charge at Lastric Clinic or the K Center?

Are there any public hospitals that actually perform the DG THD or dg-hal+rar methods?

Isn't the Morgan-Milligan method the one used in public hospitals when you get a referral from the primary care docs?

So, is it just me, or does absolutely nobody have the scoop on DG THD or dg-hal+rar? 😵

I haven't been online since my last post describing my THD procedure and the results following it.
However, four and a half years later, the hemorrhoids are back.😢

It’s nothing compared to the stage they were at before the surgery, but they are present, and I definitely feel the pain, burning, and discomfort. There is no bleeding, just occasional prolapse, though it settles down quickly.

They were likely there all along, developing slowly. I didn't have any issues during that entire period—until one "messy" weekend involving more alcohol than usual, plenty of junk food, and very little sleep. That was undoubtedly the trigger, because everything flared up by Monday.

Now I'm weighing my options. I went through a box of Fact suppositories; things calmed down a bit, but the problem isn't gone. I see some people recommending Detralex, so I'll try a dose of that as well.
If that doesn't work, I will probably have to undergo the THD procedure again. After the first time, I was completely wrecked. I really don't want to go through that recovery process ever again.
