Why did my post count go down?

Since I am still relatively new to this community, I find myself wondering if I should even be asking this—it might sound a bit silly, but I figured it was worth inquiring.

Over the last two weeks, I have managed to contribute about four different posts to the forum, yet I have noticed that every single one of them has vanished. I can only assume they were deleted, but I am curious about the underlying reason. Is there perhaps some sort of time limit on how long posts remain active, or is there some other mechanism at play here that I simply haven't grasped yet?

I would truly appreciate any insight or help you could offer!

There isn't any kind of time limit here. Just so you know, posts in the classified ads don't actually show up in search engine results.

However, it seems like I might not be able to subscribe to threads within the classified ads section. Is that also a limitation of the classified ads area? What would be the most efficient way for me to keep an eye on certain threads there?

I used to have over 1,000 posts, but now I’m looking at my profile and all I see is 835... where on earth did all my posts vanish to?😕😕

If you’ve noticed some posts vanishing from the Career & Professional Development subforum, it’s likely because we’re currently undergoing some minor housekeeping—shuffling things around and doing a bit of digital spring cleaning. Beyond that, we regularly prune older threads across all our boards to keep everything tidy, which can lead to a sudden dip in the total post count.👍

Well, nothing to be done about that, I suppose. It just means you’ll have to put in a bit more effort if you want to make up for that hit to your rating.😬

Sometimes the counter just goes haywire and starts flipping numbers around, which you’ll notice if you try to check them later. If that isn't the issue, there's a chance some of your threads were deleted or moved to a section of the forum where posts aren't tracked, effectively wiping out your count by default.👍

An Aies moderator mentioned yesterday that she cleared out the old chat threads on the forums, so that’s likely why your post count dropped.

The total post count actually drops if threads get moved over to the Archives, or you know, if they get shifted into a section where posts aren't even tracked—like the Offtopic area, for instance.

Hey, crimsonfox26, what’s the deal with posts just vanishing into thin air???

So, I was looking back at my stats and I swear I had over 6,000 posts, but then I noticed today that I’m down by about 100.

Is this forum just hungry and eating my content, or is there some glitch going on?

Some threads have been moved over to the Archive, and as soon as they go, all those posts from those specific topics get wiped from your total count.
