Following up on a topic I never received an answer to

Unbelievable. Once again, a moderator—different this time, stormybadger8—is sticking to his usual routine, handing out warnings to me while leaving everyone else alone:

Case number one: someone accuses me of trolling and being a jerk. Someone who actually tells me, "Jason Campbell70, I honestly feel so sorry for you"😢"

Everyone else is making fun of my mom too (including stormybadger8), yet somehow, I'm the only one getting penalized?

Case number two: Is mocking New York City considered trolling?
By whose standards, if not stormybadger8's?

How is it that previous posts mocking New York City haven't faced any consequences?

stormybadger8 keeps handing me these baseless warnings, all stemming from that first time we clashed in our little sub-forum "championship."

And for the record, he isn't above trolling in the more constructive threads either.

Look, Jason Campbell70, this isn't a continuation of that linked thread, and it’s definitely not a second thread either. This is probably like the seventh or eighth one by now.
It’s funny how, over the last few years, almost every single moderator in the NASCAR subforum has had their own specific threads started by you.
We’re all "problematic" and we all have "weird criteria." Have you ever stopped to wonder if maybe, just maybe, you're the one doing something wrong?

After getting hit with several warnings lately and two direct warnings on this specific thread, we should probably be discussing those warnings for a bit. How long is this going to go on, Jason Campbell70?
Even after those two warnings and cards, you predictably jump back in with a post just to bait maminha. And get this—just a couple posts earlier, you were warned twice to cut it out.

As far as messing around and poking at maminha goes, you aren't the only one. But unlike you, everyone else actually stops after a warning or a card. Most people even stop on their own.
But you? You just double down. Once you start, you don't stop, regardless of the warnings or the cards.
Honestly, it feels like you provoke more than everyone else combined, and it's pretty obvious that he thinks so too.

And no, we didn't just start arguing about the "championship." You provoked maminha, and then, after I handed you a card, you just switched targets and started provoking me.
It's not just that you won't stop trolling and baiting users after being warned; you actually turn on the moderator who warns or cards you, and then you follow them around to other threads to pick fights.
This isn't the first time either, and I'm certainly not the first moderator you've decided to target.
You’re smart enough to wrap your provocations inside a post that looks somewhat coherent, masking the bait so it doesn't look like pure trolling to an outsider. But let's call it what it is: it's still trolling.

Regarding the post I linked:
I wrote that in response to your post here.
In that post, it's clear you're stalking maminha across other subforums. Even there, you used that same "packaged" style to insult me while making sure to take shots at maminha, too.
Maybe it's my fault for even trying to talk to you, whether via PM or on the forum, instead of just handing out cards for every single post.

But seriously, it sucks that you act like this. It's a shame you can't post without constant sniping.
It's a shame you don't take warnings seriously—or rather, that you react the complete wrong way. If you keep this up, I have a feeling your next thread will just be a continuation of this one.
I honestly don't see the point in issuing warnings or cards anymore when you clearly don't give a damn about them.🤷

Jason Campbell70, please, just stop the baiting and the trolling.
You love NASCAR and you actually know how to write interesting posts. Discussing the formula is genuinely fun with you, right up until you start the constant provocations.
I really don't get why you feel the need to constantly needle everyone.

Hasn't every single one of us poked fun at someone's mom in one way or another?
And who among us actually got penalized for it?

A classic example would be that last warning card.

stormybadger8 said:I’m sorry that you aren't responding to warnings—or rather, that you're reacting so poorly to them. It's a shame, because if this keeps up, I suspect your next thread will just be a continuation of this topic.

I find subtle threats quite amusing.

As for taking things seriously? How am I supposed to take advice from someone whose opening line is "Man, I feel bad for you"?

Here are the posts I flagged that day:

And did they finally stop?
Did you catch any of their posts after that where they were mocking him, or are they somehow actually acting surprised about how things went down?

After I made those reports, I noticed these ones right underneath them too:

Did I give you a strike for them?
No, I gave you a heads-up instead, maybe twice, even though you've got a few yellows for trolling and some active reds.
Honestly, I just don't have the patience to deal with all this whining over strikes or playing middleman in DMs.

Even after all that, people are still being snarky. I just got another report today, and what else am I supposed to do but issue a strike?

If the admin team thinks the strike was unearned, feel free to scrap it.
I’m done wasting my time on this; I’ve got better things to do.

Ignoring warnings and just trolling at this point.

Honestly, if he wasn't logged in, he probably wouldn't have even noticed, and I wouldn't have flagged him since it wasn't blatant trolling.
But after watching you guys bicker over NFL teams and players earlier, I'm pretty sure that post was a deliberate attempt to stir the pot.

To be honest, I suppose he probably wouldn't have even noticed if it hadn't been reported, nor would it have really caught my eye since it wasn't explicitly trolling.
However, given the back-and-forth you all had earlier regarding those NFL teams and players, I am fairly certain that specific post was intended to be provocative.

I'm sorry, but I haven't seen or read a more nonsensical explanation for a ban in quite some time. Since when did it become the moderator's job to act like Inspector Kluzo, tracking forum members to see what they're doing or what kind of relationships they have on other sites, in person, or anywhere else?

What is your deal? Are you trying to establish a zone of total control over the NASCAR thread? 🤣

A post either is trolling or it isn't. There really isn't much middle ground. If you aren't sure, then perhaps you should refrain from handing out bans or any other sanctions, and if it actually is trolling, then please just state which rule was violated.

To suggest on your own that a post isn't trolling, and that you likely wouldn't have even noticed it unless someone reported it, seems like a highly unprofessional way for a moderator to behave if they want to be taken seriously.

What other subforums are we talking about?
The whole issue is that on the NASCAR PDF chat thread, people are constantly bickering about NFL teams, even though there's an entire dedicated NFL PDF🙄

And what am I supposed to do? Sift through every single one of their posts in a chat thread where they're just constanty taking shots at each other?
I shouldn't have to overanalyze every stupid image, GIF, or link just to figure out who's trolling whom and why.🙄
Honestly, maybe the smartest move is to just shut down that chat thread and stop wasting energy on this nonsense.☕

What exactly is your goal here? Are you trying to establish a zone of absolute control over the NASCAR subforum? 🤣

A post is either trolling or it isn't. There is no middle ground. If you aren't certain, then please, just refrain from handing out warnings or any other sanctions. But if it *is* trolling, then go ahead and cite which specific rule was broken.

To suggest that a post isn't trolling, or to imply you probably wouldn't have even noticed it if someone hadn't reported it, is incredibly unprofessional. It's honestly beneath a moderator who wants to be taken seriously.

Just chill out a bit. We can have these kinds of discussions with the moderation team directly rather than right here. Besides, as a former mod, you really should know that according to the rules, acting as an "advocate" is strictly prohibited and subject to penalty...

Perhaps the most sensible move would be to just close that chat thread entirely and stop wasting energy on such nonsense. ☕

That's what I've been saying for months now—nothing but drama in the paddock.🙏 🙏 🙏

Perhaps a temporary shutdown of the paddock isn't such a bad idea while everyone cools their jets. Though, I suspect we’re about to see a torrential downpour of bans for off-topic nonsense in other threads. ☕
Could we perhaps issue individual posting bans for certain users? That might solve the problem just as effectively... 😁

Maybe we should just scrap the entire NASCAR subforum altogether... I honestly don't see the point in keeping such a niche corner of the site alive—especially since there are at least five other massive US racing forums and news sites out there right now that cover everything...

But as long as this space exists and the garage doors stay open, I’m not going to lose sleep over what I post. Even if it's just venting about those underperformers in New York City or dealing with the likes of Vuco, there are still people here who find the sport genuinely interesting...

Is it possible that the actual depth of a discussion gets capped by the intellectual capacity—or perhaps the lack thereof—of the moderator's?

By that same logic, one could argue for dissolving most of the subforums—at least the ones I’ve taken a glance at, such as automotive, IT, audio/visual gear, music, or film. In my view, however, the very success of a forum like this, which manages to function as a bit of everything without ever getting too deep into any single niche, lies in the fact that our members actually prefer this specific way of wasting time.

stormybadger8 said:Honestly, I probably wouldn't have even noticed if he wasn't flagged, nor would it have bothered me since it isn't overt trolling.
But considering your previous bickering regarding sports teams and players, I am convinced that post was intended specifically to provoke.

Thanks to slybison8 for saving me the minimal effort required to properly address what was written.

To put it in sports terms—"some rookie made a bad call, and the result is my red card." Mes kve un club.

What is the point of a subforum chat topic if that chat is constantly being shut down just because certain users talk "too much" about Vuco or football?

Since when does a moderator have the right to decide what can or cannot be discussed in a chat topic?

Everything is temporary, but apparently, Vuco and football are not. Because, clearly, those topics aren't interesting enough for certain users (and moderators).

When I point out the moderator's interference in subforum competitions and call it "dictatorial," the response I get is, "fine, take it as a dictatorship if you want."

Also, regarding my recent situation:

And one of the moderator's replies:
It might not be a bad idea to hand out a warning or a ban every now and then to calm things down, so your rhetoric becomes more constructive and high-quality.

There are certain groups in NASCAR that are untouchable, and there are certain topics that don't cause the chat to be shut down.

Just go ahead and close the chat topic. Then the crowd that only visits NASCAR to hang out in the chat will stop coming. Discussion quality will improve, and people will visit NASCAR for the racing, not for the trivial chatter. 🙂

If peace equals exhaustion, boredom, and a total lack of interest... then I suppose I could agree with you.

Maybe we could start a dedicated NASCAR discussion thread over on Reddit—or perhaps somewhere else entirely—since most of the folks hanging out in this chat seem more interested in deep dives into psychology rather than racing 🤷

It might be a total coincidence, but during those same quiet times, maminho was also banned. 😁

Of course, I am not suggesting that maminho should be removed; quite the opposite, I have actually started threads here specifically to get him reinstated. However, I do want to prevent the common mistake of assuming two events are linked simply because they happen at the same time.

Not too long ago, I actually suggested moving our sub-forum competitions over to the designated forum.

And honestly, I think your idea to move the "Paddock" section to the Off-topic forum is spot on, maybe right alongside those other similar threads.

Let's keep the NASCAR sub-forum clean and constructive.
