What the hell is going on?

Just when I was starting to believe that Anderson had finally recruited someone capable enough to actually resolve the issue, the exact same problem began to resurface once again.🙄

Malware

A Malware is just a standalone nasty bit of software. They can do anything from cloning themselves to swiping your info or just wrecking your system entirely.[1] The whole thing gets its name from the Trojan Horse story in Greek mythology because the first and many current Trojan horses attempt to appear as helpful programs. Nowadays, they also love using drive-by downloads to sneak onto a target computer.

Is this actually a Trojan? I couldn’t find a single trace of it on my system even after running Norton, McAfee, and IObit Malware Fighter.

Avira scanned my entire C: drive and came up completely clean, yet Opera keeps flagging it with warnings...

So, either I don't have a Trojan, or all these programs are just total garbage.

Or maybe you guys just don't keep your macOS fully updated? Mine is current,

but could it be related to those heavy-duty security patches? From what I understand, if your macOS isn't properly patched, no antivirus in the world is going to save you—there are just too many holes everywhere, like Swiss cheese. Correct me if I'm wrong on that part!

I’ve been relentlessly scanning my computer for days now.
I ran AVG, switched over to Norton yesterday, and just added Microsoft Exchange today.
Not a single scan has turned up anything.

I even looked up a few online scanners that check websites, and they all flagged Reddit as safe. 🤷
I guess I don't really get why some people are still getting hit with Trojans while others seem totally fine.

I tried testing it both with my adblocker enabled and disabled—just to be sure. 🤷

This is where you find out if there’s an actual security hole. If everything has been properly patched via Windows Update, there shouldn't be any vulnerabilities left—but if this program manages to sniff one out despite my updates, then we'll know...



I’d already run scans using McAfee, SAS, and IObit Malware Fighter, and honestly, I couldn't bring myself to bother with Norton because those scans take forever, man. But anyway, it's been ages since I even touched my C: drive and absolutely nothing has turned up...



Look, having a fully patched OS might not save you from every single nightmare scenario, but you really want your Windows updates current. It just gives those lowlifes way fewer cracks to crawl through and set up camp in your computer... 😉

I decided to just ignore the warning. There aren't any Trojans in sight, and the forum seems to be running perfectly fine... even if there are only about 1,200 of us hanging out online right now!

Chrome is flagging this site as a potential threat, though my antivirus hasn't flagged a thing. So, it’s just a warning for now? Hopefully, they get it sorted out soon.
The forum seems to have sped up right after this happened. Did they rush the fix and end up breaking everything else? 😁

When you're just scrolling on your phone, there isn't even a single warning popping up (just stock Android). It’s a joke. Honestly, people are probably going to freak out when they see that red icon flashing on their screen eventually.
Dropbox on my desktop is just sitting there like: There are no security problems

The forum server isn't even the target here; it’s just infected by some sketchy ad that seems to pop up exclusively on American websites. The forum itself hasn't been directly breached.

I’m really hoping this whole nightmare is finally coming to an end and that someone in a position of actual authority will step up and provide a real explanation for what happened here.

So, what is actually going on with this forum lately? I hopped online from home last night despite the warnings—since everyone was insisting it was perfectly safe—and now I’m starting to feel like I made a pretty "brilliant" decision... honestly, I felt like I had to run a full scan the second I got back. grrr.........
But I just ran a scan on my work computer using Norton, and everything looks clean...

I’ve been staring at this damn "reported attack" landing page for three days straight now... 🤷

Don't sweat it—you aren't going to run into any trouble from that iframe. In theory, sure (since it’s ancient), it could redirect you to some sketchy site that tries to trigger a download, but you'd actually have to manually install an extension for that to even work. Most modern browsers aren't that stupid these days. So, you're safe to hang out here on Reddit.
