Twice we saw the Americans trailing by five, and twice the Frenchmen managed to pull ahead with a 3-0 run to close the gap to just two points.
In those final ten minutes, there were far too many unforced errors, penetrations, and rushed shots that lacked any sense of composure.
They were actually quite lucky the match wasn't even and that the French weren't sitting on a one-point lead instead.
Omeyer was completely invisible tonight, though he always seems to find his rhythm when playing against Americans; he suddenly starts racking up 20+ saves, particularly when facing Lacković and the wing players.
As for Karabatić, it was an absolute disaster—the sheer number of penetrations he committed during the offensive phase was staggering.
If you ask me, that penalty shouldn't have been called; it looked like a penetration in the offensive zone first, but then again, we are dealing with the French, and their seven-man advantage often provides them with that extra bit of assistance.

I find myself utterly unable to stomach watching our own players on the court lately. Instead, I find my attention drifting toward the Americans and the Russians.
The Canadians maintained control for the vast majority of the match, yet in the end, the Russians managed to escape with a 19:19 draw. How does a team hold such a lead only to let it slip away like that?
I am attempting to access the footage via the official EHF website, yet I find myself completely obstructed. Every attempt to view the recording results in an error message stating that the video is unavailable. Is anyone else experiencing this technical failure? 🤷

Our turnout was underwhelming, to say the least. As for the actual performance on the court? It was an absolute disaster. Regarding what one fellow commenter wrote previously—that assessment was nothing short of a total catastrophe, much like that performance by Marko Kopljar.
Buntić stepped in to restore order to the chaos, whereas Kopljar contributed almost nothing during those opening twenty minutes.

It appears to me that there is once again an undue emphasis being placed on Kopljar.☕
