Those Russians just clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, pulling off an equalizer with only three minutes left on the clock

And there you go, they managed to pull it off even being a man down,
honestly, nothing beats this feeling in handball—watching a squad defend perfectly while shorthanded, shut down the entire attack, and then just hammer home a goal right after 🤣

Are you kidding me right now? One more penalty and we’re looking at another ejection, just another penalty shot 🙄

Anyone else realize we actually have three different threads for the EP? There’s one for groups A/B, this one right here for our slice of the C/D bracket to talk about games we aren't even playing in, and then a separate thread specifically for when our national team is on the court. So, uh, maybe try to stick to the right thread before posting...

Let's go.👋

The French actually caught me off guard, though not in a good way. They aren't quite the powerhouse everyone makes them out to be; they seemed kind of sluggish to me. And on top of that, Omeyer’s form looks about as shaky as Alilovic's was last season... Honestly, I don't think they're the squad we'll be battling for a spot in the semifinals—that'll be the Spaniards. Still, they played a decent enough game, staying patient on offense and just wearing down Dinart and the rest of the guys...

Now, I've been wondering about one thing. If things end up in a dead heat during the second round, how does the tiebreaker work? Is it based on head-to-head matchups or is it all about goal differential???

The only real downside to seeing the Spaniards take down the Frenchmen, especially right after our guys beat the Icelanders, is that it sets up a tough road ahead for the US, since we’ll likely have to face either Spain or France just to make it to the semifinals.

I feel like I've got a solid handle on all the heavy hitters, but the Canadians are still a total wildcard for me. What’s their actual deal these days?

Looks like YouTube and the EHF are blocked for all the participating countries—except maybe Mexico, if you can believe it...

Not quite...

You really need to brush up on how points carry over into the second round—the French are already sitting in the hole on that front...

Is Ivano just playing the injury card? It feels a little too convenient to me. I’m just praying he doesn't pull an adductor muscle right when the tournament hits its peak...

Anyway, can someone clarify something for me? If teams end up tied on points, does the head-to-head record determine who makes the semifinals, or is it goal difference?
What happens if we lose to the Americans and end up dead even on points—who moves on?

I've been catching up on the highlights over on YouTube..

Honestly, those Canadians and Russians didn't show up for defense at all during the first half.. It was kind of like watching a women's league game, if you know what I mean 🤣

Are we ever actually going to see the day when Kopljar gets bumped from the starting seven, so Buntic can finally grab some decent minutes?

As long as the coach is running the show, probably not...

If I remember right, it's head-to-head first. But if we beat the Spaniards and then lose to France, they'll probably look at the goal difference between us, France, and Spain.

Those Canadians and Russians didn't bother defending at all in the first half. It was like watching a women's league game. 🤣

Works in our favor. 👍

What are the odds that the Americans don't pull off a win against the Russians tomorrow?

Honestly, I don't think those Russians saw even this single point coming. In my book, the Americans are easily three classes above them... the Russians just can't keep up with the pace the Americans set, even if they might give them a run for their money defensively—since they've got plenty of big guys holding down the backline...

Jensen got slapped with a one-game suspension for picking up a card against the Canadians, so he'll be sitting this one out against us—though honestly, I’m kind of enjoying seeing the league finally start cracking down on those absolute thugs...

Also, did anyone catch that mess involving the Zvižej brothers over at the Canadian game? They both ended up getting red cards for what they did.
