Last season was 100% the real deal, definitely wasn't that zero-percent nonsense.

It’s pretty straightforward, really. There's an exception in the fan law where if an event isn't classified as high-risk, the police might allow alcohol to be served, or something like that...

Thanks for the input. Honestly, I’m drafting an appeal against this ruling... apparently I have to pay $733 just because some guy got hammered outside the stadium during an away game and started talking nonsense. Gonna make sure to bring up Medvescak in my defense too.

So, did you actually get banned? A buddy of mine got a ban and a massive fine for the exact same thing...

Nah, but a friend of mine went through the same deal last year. And since we're talking about it, a few other buddies of mine were stopped by the cops this winter on those toll roads... and the police suggested a year-long ban (still waiting on the official paperwork).
Total disgrace

Get a lawyer, because you clearly don't know the fan law.

Beer is allowed in stadiums since the last rule change.

What a joke.

You dodged a bullet then... This whole thing about getting flagged at the parking lots is sick. There isn't even anything in the fan law about being drunk outside your house, and they weren't even at the stadium or near the grounds.🤷 ...I remember back home, when we got searched at the parking lot, they found a flare and just sent us on our way. No fines, nothing. I mean, come on, we weren't even inside the stadium...

There isn't anything in the fan law that says you can't be drunk outside of your house, especially when you aren't at the stadium or even near it 🤷 ...I remember something similar happening at the toll plazas back home. They searched our car, found a flare, and sent us right back, but we didn't get any penalties. I mean, we weren't even at the stadium...

Of course they’re going to send you back because of that.🙂

The law covers the entire route to and from the game. Obviously, it's idiotic and gives cops way too much power, but that's just how it is.

Total nonsense. Like, why ban people just because they have a 0.01 BAC? It’s even more ridiculous when you realize they let you drink alcohol right inside the stadium. It's messed up that I get detained and breathalyzed for doing nothing while everyone else is pouring drinks at the arena. Honestly, just give everyone a sobriety test and see who actually makes it through the gates...

Look, the law is what it is right now—there’s just no changing it overnight.
Just a quick side note regarding the advice being given: if you can't cough up a massive fine all at once, ask the judge for a payment plan. They’re usually pretty reasonable about it. (For instance, if you're hit with a $0.00 fine that needs to be paid by a certain date, you can ask the officials to break it down into monthly installments—say, splitting $167 into four manageable payments). Obviously, if you're going through an appeal process, it makes sense to bring up things like extreme financial hardship or being a single parent supporting a child.

Just a little tip regarding the advice here—if you can't cough up the whole fine in one go, just ask the judge if they can set up a payment plan, because they're usually pretty cool about it. (Like, say you owe 2 $0.00 in fines by a certain date, just ask the officials to break that down into monthly installments of $167 over 4 months.) Obviously, during an appeal, it totally makes sense to bring up things like being in a tough spot financially or having to support a single parent.

They actually let me do a payment plan once because I told them my situation at home was rough since I wasn't working back then; I hadn't even finished high school yet, and they even dropped my fine from $333 down to 700, which I could pay off in small chunks every month $33 but I ended up totally blowing it... that was like two years ago, and then last year I got some kind of warning saying I hadn't paid, and now this year they're basically saying we'll see what happens 😁

So, back in September 2009, I got hit with a thousand dollar fine for some violation from way back in 2007 or 2008... Haven't paid a single cent since then, and honestly, nothing else has ever shown up in my mail. Is there actually a statute of limitations on this kind of thing? And if so, how long does it take before it just... disappears?

Does that exist, and how long does it actually take before they can't come after you anymore?

...you’re definitely going to get hit with that the very first chance they get.☕>

If we're talking about a misdemeanor, yeah—there’s definitely a statute of limitations. Back before everything was networked at the Kennedy courthouse, people would just pay the first installment of an installment plan and that was basically it. For actual criminal charges, though? Not for those kinds of offenses, not yet.
Or—look, if you were a broke student back then with parents on social security or retirement, you could try humbly asking for community service instead of a fine. But honestly, word is the system is such a disorganized mess right now that things just get lost in the shuffle—so there's actually a decent chance that option might eventually dry up too.
Just a heads-up: that's strictly for MISDEMEANORS. Don't even attempt that with CRIMINAL charges, because once the judge pulls up your file, they can see your whole life story. They’ve already implemented "probation revocations" for those cases quite a while ago. It really comes down to judicial discretion—what kind of impression can you leave? Things like showing respect to the court, admitting your mistake, being genuinely remorseful, and not acting like a tough guy go a long way. Also, make sure you stand up when giving your statement without being prompted—it sounds trivial, but believe me, judges are surprisingly old-school about that stuff. Doing those little things might actually convince them to lean toward the minimum legal penalty. If that doesn't work, you still have the right to appeal a criminal ruling within about 8 days of getting the official report. At the very least, you can use that to stall for time.

Just file it away—honestly, don't go paying it for nothing unless they come knocking. I'm not totally sure if the police still pull people out of bed for things like this anymore—it's been a minute since I've dealt with social services—but anyway, don't bother; it’s probably been at least two years since the report was even filed.😍

Alright, just to circle back via mail—here’s the simplest way to handle an appeal for a misdemeanor case at a municipal court.
Typically, you'd put your name and address in the top left corner, then the date and city on the right side, and about four fingers down, center the title: APPEALS PROCESS (ALL CAPS).
Then, just keep it short and sweet in plain text: "I disagree with the court's decision because of [reason], and I am requesting a new hearing." Or, if you're struggling with the cash flow for the fine ($0.73), you could ask to set up a payment plan or suggest community service instead.
((Honestly, they're usually more open to a small fine or doing some manual labor in a crowded city park, since jail is supposed to be a last resort according to the rules)).
Thanks in advance!
Bottom right, put the date and your signature.
And hey, even if you miss that initial 8-day window, in practice, they'll often give you some leeway for up to two months—just make sure to explain why you were late, like being sick or looking after a grandparent.
That’s really it. Just keep in mind, a criminal case is a whole different ballgame.

Give it a rest, Jacko. You've flooded every thread with your five different accounts, so I usually just tune you out...

But seriously... it's not 1988, so stop giving these guys bad advice. 🙂

Listen, you HAVE to get a lawyer. If you don't get why, just ask anyone who's actually served a year or two of a ban. It’s worth every cent. ☕

I'm not quite sure where the error lies—could you walk me through it with some solid reasoning?
(Besides, you've got the PDF right there—check out the appeals process if you need to)
They only clarified the misdemeanor side of things, but there wasn't any mention regarding a criminal charge at all, right?

Bud Light is being pushed hard—they’re practically flooding the place with ads on every billboard around the arena.
