After what feels like an eternity of waiting, the Liverpool-inspired new wave outfit Ladytron is finally bringing their sound to the Chicago crowd, and I have a feeling it's going to be a packed house. They'll be taking the stage at The Fillmore on May 5th.
What makes Ladytron so standout is that unique sonic blend they’ve perfected—it’s this cool mix of new wave, pop, punk, and heavy electronic elements. Honestly, they are one of the most original acts to emerge this millennium.
They really broke through with the hit "Playgirl," and they've built an impressive discography including "604," "Industrial Light & Magic," "Witching Hour," and "Velocifero"—the latter of which actually cracked the top 40 most listened-to albums in the United Kingdom just two weeks after its release.
It was really that smash hit "Destroy Everything You Touch" from their 2005 album "Witching Hour" that cemented their global status, leading to sold-out tours all over the world. As Wu once noted, "Everywhere we played, the audience just kept growing; it gave us this sense that everything was in our hands and that we were onto something truly special."
To nail that signature sound, they don't just rely on guitars; they lean heavily into analog synthesizers, keyboards, and drum machines.
