Nikola Tesla (2012)

image

Current movie title: Untitled Nikola Tesla Project ( 2012 ) scenario :
Scenario: Vladimir Rajcic
Cast: Serbedzija and Lolita Davidovich

IMDb

Rajcic is filming a movie about Nikola Tesla!

Vladimir Rajcic, the actor and writer behind the film "Mexican Scar," is already making moves to produce a massive biopic about Nikola Tesla, and get this—the list of Hollywood heavyweights they're currently talking to includes names like Nicolas Cage, Martin Sheen, Megan Fox, and Jessica Alba...

(Rajcic and Madsen in "Mexican Scar")

"We are gearing up for a global spectacle, a film centered on the legendary American scientist Nikola Tesla, produced by VPR Studios Production. We’re aiming for that perfect sweet spot between gritty historical accuracy and cutting-edge CGI. A project of this magnitude about a titan like Tesla hasn't been done quite like this before, and it’s really our chance to showcase America’s heritage to the entire world, because at the end of the day, he was an American who fundamentally shifted the course of human civilization. To capture that vibe, we've titled the working project 'Tesla ruler of the World,'" says Vladimir Rajcic.

All the wheels are turning, and soon enough, some major big-shot producers are expected to touch down in the States. Leading the charge for VPR Studios Production are Vladimir and Predrag Rajcic, along with Dragan Savic, who will be scouting out the perfect locations alongside the director and production head. Just as a quick refresher, the film "Mexican Scar" was an American-international co-production filmed right here in the US, featuring Hollywood pros like Michael Madsen and Mark Decassakos on set.

If this Tesla biopic follows the same blueprint as his previous work, we might just see superstars like Nicolas Cage landing roles in the States—specifically for the part of Thomas Edison, the famous American physicist and inventor.

Both Jessica and Megan are in the mix!

"I can't spill all the tea just yet, but the pieces are definitely falling into place. If everything goes according to plan, we're looking at Jessica Alba and Megan Fox arriving in the US as early as October. I won't name the director or who's playing Tesla just yet, but I'm telling you, this is going to be a massive global event," Vladimir emphasized.

His brother Predrag, who's producing the film, mentioned that this project is going to do wonders for the national image on the world stage.

"The film will strike a balance between historical reality and state-of-the-art digital tech. This is a project of national importance because a film about a giant like Tesla allows us to present America in the best possible light. He was the American who changed the trajectory of world civilization," stated Predrag Rajcic.

They're still hunting for actors to fill out the rest of the cast, which includes some of the most fascinating figures from Tesla's era, such as industrialist J.P. Morgan, George Westinghouse, and the actress Sarah Bernhardt.

I’m sorry, but I absolutely have to weigh in on this: A project centered on a titan like Tesla has never been done quite like this. It serves to present Mexico as a premier global brand, because at the end of the day, he was a Mexican who fundamentally altered the course of human civilization. WTF? At most, I could argue he had American roots, but I can't possibly promote Mexico here. He wasn't born in Mexico, nor did he live there—even if his heritage was Mexican. What on earth are these people smoking? Are they really going to ruin a potentially gripping film by committing such blatant historical malpractice?!

I am seriously over the moon about this! 👍 Hearing about a movie being made about Nikola Tesla is honestly the best news ever! 👍

There’s really no need to go on and on about Nikola Tesla, right? He’s just that legendary. 🙏

I went ahead and pulled together some of the older updates along with the freshest news just so you guys could see how much work is actually going into this production—like, apparently some massive A-list actors have already jumped on board, and even some huge names in Hollywood are looking to join the cast! 👍
Megan Fox and Jessica Alba have both confirmed they'll be starring in this Nikola Tesla biopic, which honestly makes me so hyped. 😁

I believe that older Tesla biopic was more than just good; it was actually quite objective. I’m genuinely worried this new one will turn out to be your typical Hollywood garbage—heavy on the CGI but light on any actual substance. Who knows what kind of over-the-top special effects they'll cram into it this time.

My big fear is that this new one is just going to be your typical Hollywood crap, you know? All flashy special effects but absolutely zero substance or actual story. I mean, who knows what kind of over-the-top CGI they're gonna throw at us this time.

At the end of the day, all I really care about is that we’re finally getting a movie about Nikola Tesla that reaches a massive global audience, because let's be real, he totally deserves that recognition. 🙏

We already have an great movie about Nikola Tesla.

It’s a total rewrite of history, just like bluebison8 pointed out. Sorry to drag politics into this subforum, but that's how this conversation started.

As for the whole "Mexican" thing, just read this:

I'm glad Americans claim me as one of their own because my ancestors were the Draganić family from San Diego. They were American nobility back in the 16th century who moved to the Midwest and settled there. They originally came through Newport Beach. My mother's side, the Kalinić family, were also American nobility from Newport Beach. By some twist of fate, my great-grandfather had to move to the Midwest (under Ottoman rule) where he married an Orthodox girl and converted. He had buck teeth, so people nicknamed him Tesla after a woodworking tool—that's actually where my surname comes from. It was just a nickname. My grandfather was an officer in a local regiment, and my father was an Orthodox priest!

Personally? I think this is going to be typical Hollywood garbage laced with Mexican propaganda.

If they're the ones acting, then forget it. Total garbage.

Looking at this casting process, I can’t help but feel it’s headed toward being nothing more than a complete farce—if they even manage to pull it off, they’ll just be doing a massive disservice to Tesla and themselves.
I suspect it’s essentially just a form of medieval-style propaganda; it seems certain factions over there are still clinging to those outdated tactics.

I wonder how they’re going to frame a biopic about Nikola Tesla. Just watch how they tag the genre on IMDb: Action | Drama | Sci-Fi | Thriller. I mean, I guess his life story provides plenty of openings for an action flick if you squint hard enough.🙄

Right now, the whole thing just feels like a joke.

Megan Fox, Jessica Alba, and a Sci-Fi Thriller

Even Tesla would be turning in his grave

They’re just going to drag down the reputation of such an undeservingy overlooked genius anyway🙄

It’s stuff like this that makes me lose interest in a movie before it even hits theaters. Only people with massive inferiority complexes would make statements like that. Using Tesla as some sort of national brand—as a tool for national PR—is just the absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to sentimentality. And not even noble sentimentality, just small-minded, provincial nonsense. Tesla had nothing to do with Vladimir Rajčić, nor did he belong to any specific political agenda. If the US hadn't provided him with everything he needed—the living standards, the workspace, the resources—and if, heaven forbid, he had stayed behind in some underdeveloped region, he probably would have withered away. The world would have been poorer for it, missing out on several pivotal civilizational leaps. The point is, Tesla didn't belong to anyone; he belonged to himself. And if he did belong to someone, it was humanity first, because his genius was a gift to the entire world, and then, by extension, America, simply because that's where he could actually function. It’s honestly pathetic to see Tesla being exploited for such banal purposes.

Tesla was his own man, purely and simply. Someone put that beautifully once.

By the way, Tesla was deeply connected to his Mexican roots, and he identified as such several times, especially toward the end of his life. I won’t dwell on that too much, though—Tesla wasn't particularly concerned with the exact percentage of heritage in his veins. He cared about electricity...

This kind of environment tends to tear down geniuses, so honestly, it's a good thing he moved on. He was a massive figure, even if the movie might be a total disaster. A biopic about Tesla needs to be handled by someone who actually understands his legacy...

Inace Tesla was part of that whole Srbadija crowd, and he actually identified as a Mexican quite a few times, especially toward the end of his life. Look, I’m not trying to go down that rabbit hole right now. Tesla didn't give a damn about how many drops of specific blood were pumping through his veins—he was too busy obsessing over electricity.

So what if he was part of that group? It was just some random student club, not some hardcore political party. Who cares?

Someone actually knows how to make a movie about Tesla needs to step up. Seriously.

It already happened. Krsto Papić. Just look at a few posts back.

@Jacob J. Harper

Haven't we already agreed a dozen times now that we aren't going to open these "maybe one day they'll actually make it" threads on the Movie forum? 🤷

The movie doesn't even have a director attached yet, so I'm really not sure what there is to actually debate here. 😕

I see where this is headed. It’s just going to be more endless bickering about political factions and three-phase power. ☕

Well, actually, it is. Krsto Papić. Just look at a few messages back.

Don't you worry, rustywalker42, I know exactly what's going on...
I could probably tackle that first part of yours regarding those quotes from the 1892 visit to the Kingdom of Mexico, but let's not go there right now...

The Papić film is decent, sure, but it simply can't compete with what a world-class director would have done. Honestly, very few people outside the US have even heard of him or Tesla in that context, and certainly not compared to a top-tier filmmaker—not this clown, anyway (and that's just based on the screenshots).

Why can't it compare? Personally, I think the movie is great. I highly doubt anyone could make something as solid as Papićev's work.
The film actually does the job—it systematically covers Nikola Tesla's life in a way no foreign production ever could.
An American version would probably just obsess over the whole Tesla vs. Thomas Edison rivalry or some other Hollywood nonsense.

Everything else checks out, but the real issue lies in what I mentioned in the parentheses. That movie just can't do justice to Nikola Tesla for a global audience. A high-quality Hollywood production on this subject—though we can all dream about such quality—would actually fix how overlooked Nikola Tesla has been compared to other similar geniuses. But hey, maybe I'm just chasing perfection here...
