3 Facebook questions

So, I was thinking about a few things...
1. Why is it that when you search someone's name on Google, their Facebook profile pops right up in the results,
but for some people, nothing shows up at all?

I'm talking about just regular folks here—not big companies, famous streamers, or anything like that...

2. If I were to change my cover photo,
but then go into my personal profile settings and select "hide from timeline,"
and let's say I did that five times in a row with five different pictures... if I always hit that "hide" button,
would those updates still show up on my main info page for my "friends" to see?
Or would they stay hidden?

3. Also, why do certain profiles only have a "follow" button instead of the standard "add friend" option, and what's the trick to setting it up that way?

1. It’s probably because they have names that aren't super common.
2. They actually do. You're just hiding those specific photos from your own timeline view. If you don't want other people seeing them, you'll need to go into the privacy settings for those individual posts. You can set them so only you can see them or maybe just a few specific friends. You'll find it all in the settings menu.
3. Because that's how they set it up. I'm typing this on my phone, so I don't really feel like hunting through YouTube to find the exact steps, but if you search for something like "how to set the follow button on Facebook," you should find it easily. I know there are plenty of tutorials out there—I think I spent way too much time messing around with those settings myself out of pure curiosity.

Nah, man, it's actually because of those privacy settings on your Facebook profile where you can literally just toggle whether or not you want to show up in search engine results...

I didn't catch that in my settings. I haven't been on Facebook much lately since I've been busy upgrading my PC, so there's that. I'll check it out once I get my new build finished and then turn it off.

There’s actually an option where search results point you straight to a user's timeline instead of just their main profile page
The way someone's profile shows up on Google would look more like this:

https://www.facebook.com/firstname.lastname

But if you toggle that setting to link directly to the timeline, then everything becomes part of those specific topics the user decided to set to "public"
So yeah, that's not really what I meant...
