Best wireless adapters for gaming/streaming?

I’d appreciate some input on this adapter ... is it actually any good? Is it worth the asking price? How far does the range really reach, and what factors influence that? Also, if you have a better suggestion for a wireless adapter—or whatever the correct term is—that can actually pull a decent signal from two houses away, let me know.
