I am looking for some software recommendations to help my sister out here in the States. I need to record my entire screen so I can walk her through certain technical steps on her computer.
To give you some context, I have spent the last few days testing at least twenty different programs, and I have managed to narrow my shortlist down to about three or four—specifically HyperCam, Galdwin PrintScreen, and CamStudio.
The issue is that none of them possess the specific feature I am hunting for. What I really need is a visual indicator: specifically, a yellow circle that appears whenever I click the left mouse button, and a red circle when I click the right mouse button.
I am almost certain I saw a program once that offered this exact functionality, but unfortunately, the name has completely slipped my mind.
Every single one of the programs I mentioned above provides the yellow highlight for left-clicks, but absolutely none of them offer any visual feedback for right-clicks.
Does anyone happen to know of a program that actually includes this capability?

I suppose you can easily customize how the left and right click effects look in Adobe Premiere Pro; you just have to know the trick, because I guess there isn't anything better than Adobe Premiere Pro

...you see up there, the left one is red and the right one is blue
..and why don't you and your sister just install TeamViewer so you can connect directly to her PC via the taskbar and show her live!!

Well, it isn't a bad idea at all, though she's really hoping to have everything recorded directly onto her computer or perhaps a disc.
Slowly but surely, I’d record them all one by one so she could build up her very own library of video tutorials.
On top of that, having those tutorials saved would be incredibly helpful for my other friends as well.

I've actually downloaded several different versions of Adobe Premiere Pro but none of them seem to have the specific feature you showed me above. Which version are you using?
If you happen to have a link handy, that would be absolutely wonderful.

I believe I mentioned that in Adobe Premiere Pro, you can actually customize the settings for both left and right clicks.

Now I find myself in the rather awkward position of needing to hunt down a download link for Adobe Premiere Pro, seeing as I’ve already gone ahead and uninstalled it.
I've been searching through Google, but all I seem to be able to stumble upon is Adobe Premiere Pro

That’s just Adobe Premiere Pro 7

Well, I have just finished downloading Adobe Premiere Pro, but I am completely stumped—I simply cannot find that specific window anywhere. I have meticulously searched through every single corner under tools/options.
If you wouldn't mind terribly, could you please walk me through how you accessed that window? A step-by-step guide would be absolutely wonderful.

That’s wonderful, thank you so much!
It really is a fantastic program for my specific needs—honestly, it’s the best tool I’ve come across yet.
Thanks

Oh, goodness, I seem to have overlooked one small detail in my previous inquiry.
I happened to notice in several presentations that it is actually possible to zoom in on a video whenever you need to highlight a specific detail or bring a certain part of the frame into focus.
Would you happen to know the proper procedure for accomplishing this, and more importantly, where exactly within the interface those settings are located?

Once you launch the software and import your footage for editing

you'll find the Zoom options at the bottom. I guess that's where you can adjust the intensity, duration, and position of the zoom effect !!

No, that isn't quite what I had in mind; you're likely referring to zooming in on pre-recorded footage once it's already sitting there on the timeline.
What I am actually searching for is the ability to zoom in and out in real-time while the screen recording is actively taking place.
I recently came across a video on YouTube where the presenter was mid-recording, and when a tiny little detail popped up, they zoomed right into it—I suspect they were just using the mouse scroll wheel—and then zoomed back out immediately afterward.
There is almost certainly some sort of built-in feature that allows you to trigger a zoom using the middle mouse button during the actual recording process.

That is precisely what I was thinking.
Now, if you could just walk me through the actual steps to make it happen, I would be incredibly grateful.

That’s post-production. It wasn't automated; I did it manually. Most of the time, Adobe Premiere Pro determines the zoom position automatically, but it doesn't set the actual magnification level. It just centers the view on the icon you want to click, but you have to decide if you need a 10%, 30%, or 100% zoom. I guess the software can't possibly know how much surrounding context you might need to see... you know? That's why this has to be done by hand.

So, from what I gather, I won't actually be able to apply any zooming until after I've finished recording the footage and successfully dropped it onto the timeline.

Exactly that.

Alright, I am going to give this export process a shot and see how it goes.

It isn't working quite as I had hoped. I moved the slider to the specific spot where I wanted to zoom, adjusted it to the perfect size, and then clicked aply smartfocus to clip, but instead of the magic happening, I am just met with two pop-up messages:

"All existing zoom and pan keyframes will be replaced with new Smart Focus zoom and pan keyframes that fit your new dimensions.
Do you wish to continue?

" And then this one:
"Smart Focus can only generate zoom and pan keyframes For .camrec files created with Camtasia Recorder 5.0 or later.
Use The Zoom-n-Pan tab to manually add keyframes to the Timeline.

"
So, following those prompts, I hit play but, quite frankly, I see absolutely no change at all on my screen.
I find myself wondering, what exactly am I doing wrong here?

You aren't even using any smart focus tools. Everything is just manual work. I guess you find the slider on the timeline where you want to zoom, scale up to the size you want, set the zoom position on the screen, move a few video keyframes—depending on how long you waited with the cursor at the target spot—and then just scale back to 0%. That’s your zoom in and zoom out. It doesn't get any simpler than that, I suppose.
