I just installed Google Chrome for the first time today, and I’m honestly impressed by how fast pages load.
I have a few questions and would really appreciate some help.
1. How do I Change font and language settings to English?
2. How can I get that standard menu bar at the top with options like file, edit, view, and history?
3. What's the easiest way to save my current page to my favorites (bookmarks)?

You probably should have just downloaded the English version...
ironharbor11 said:2. How can I get that standard toolbar at the top that all browsers have (file, edit, view, history, etc.)?

Chrome doesn't work that way. All the tools are tucked under the key icon (on the right, just below the X)...
ironharbor11 said:3. How do I add the current page to my favorites (bookmarks)?

Just click the star icon located to the right of the URL bar...

Click the wrench icon, go to Options, then Under The Hood, hit Change font and language settings, click Languages, then select English (United Kingdom or United States) from the Google Chrome language dropdown.

How did I miss that... 😲

I figured I’d jump in here rather than starting a whole new thread.
I’ve been a loyal Firefox user for quite a while now, but I’m seriously considering making the switch to Chrome. From what I can tell, it feels noticeably snappier.
My main hesitation, though, is the Add-ons situation. How is the support for Add-ons in Chrome?
I could probably survive without most of them, but I’ve become pretty dependent on Adblock Plus. Does Chrome offer something similar, or do you all rely on a separate app to handle ad blocking?
What has your experience been like with all of this?
Thanks!

The OP could have just asked this here 🙄

At my job, Firefox was my default until the 4.0 Beta versions rolled out. I'm just not feeling the new interface. 🤷

As for Add-on support in Chrome? Seems perfectly fine to me. It might not hit the same level as FF, but it covers everything an average surfer needs, IMHO.
Adblock - Google Chrome extension gallery: basically the only one I actually need (for now) 👍

Thanks, Noah Sanchez39.
That Adblock sounds pretty solid, especially this part:

New in version 2.0: Ads are actually blocked from downloading now, instead of just being removed after the fact!

That’s really the whole point of blocking ads, isn't it? Well, anyway, I'm sticking with Google Chrome. Damned Google—they’ve basically taken over everything, and now they're starting to act just like the new Microsoft.

A little off-topic here: do you remember Netscape? 🙄
People are still preserving archived versions of that once-legendary web browser from the mid-90s. Honestly, if you were around back then, you know exactly how much nostalgia that brings...🧐

I have to admit, I’m starting to find this Chrome interface quite appealing—I'm really looking forward to diving in and seeing just how much it can actually do.
The only thing currently bugging me is the lack of a visible refresh button; I've been relying on that visual cue for years now. Honestly, I'm getting a bit tired of having to manually hammer away at the Ctrl+5
keyboard shortcut every single time.

Just look at the "button" sitting right between Back / Forward and the home page evo (it's under the Google tab, third one from the left). 😉

But here’s the actual issue—I don't have anything sitting between the Back / Forward buttons and my
home page evo
.
Just take a look at how my toolbar is laid out right now: image

Check out my toolbar.

Don't you see FOUR (4) icons or buttons right there? What exactly is that clockwise circular arrow supposed to do? 😉

Hey, please excuse me—I know I can be a bit scattered when I haven't had a chance to look things over properly.
What I actually meant to ask about was the stop button—you know, the one used to halt a page from loading.
On another note, I can't seem to find any option for print preview anywhere; I'm honestly not sure if that feature even exists within the browser.

restlessdrifter12 said:My bad, I clearly wasn't thinking straight when I missed that.
Actually, what I meant to ask was about the stop button, you know, for when you need to kill a page loading mid-way.
Second thing—I can't find any option for print preview anywhere. Not sure if that even exists.

When you hit that third icon, "Reload this page," it turns into a little "X." Click that to stop the page from loading.
Works just fine for me using the F5 (Reload) + Esc (Stop) combo too. 😉

Regarding your other question:
"The most likely feature to make it into the final of Chrome 9 seems to be Print Preview, which has made some progress lately: While it is functional yet, there is now the stage set for a preview within a tab. Google has also added several print options, including pages, copies, layout and color menus within the print tab." (link) 🙂

I was wondering—what is the best way to make sure I don't lose all my bookmarks if I end up having to reinstall Windows?

Just grab your wrench—go to Tag Manager, hit Organization, and you'll see an "Export Tags" option at the bottom. Save those somewhere safe, and once you reinstall Windows, just follow the same steps and select "Import Tags" to get everything back to how it was.
