dustyskipper77 said:-Vettel is clearly loving life in a machine built by a genius like Newey, and you can't argue with that perfection... though I have to wonder how much of this success is actually due to his own skill...
-I used to really dislike Hamilton because he felt like a silver-spoon kid, but man, the talent he shows every single race is undeniable. He's incredibly aggressive, fiercely competitive, and completely obsessed with winning...
-No sugarcoating here, Alonso is my favorite when it comes to pure driving ability. His talent seems virtually limitless... just a flawless driver with extraordinary traits...
-Webber finally let me down. I truly believed he was more than just a supporting act at Red Bull, but despite what the bosses try to say, he's clearly stuck in second gear. He's just too soft and frankly, too slow...
-Button drove a stellar race today, making the most of that McLaren power to grab some solid points, but compared to a perfect Hamilton, he’s still just playing second fiddle...
-Massa is a disappointment, and he simply doesn't have what it takes to drive for Ferrari...

Can we get some objectivity in here?🙄

If Webber wasn't playing second fiddle at Red Bull, Alonso and Hamilton wouldn't even be in the same zip code as Vettel.😳

It was actually Webber who screwed Vettel at the start with that killer launch and by shutting his teammate out.🤦
It wasn't Alonso overtaking him; Alonso was probably just as shocked to find himself up there.🤣

And Hamilton benefited big time from that too. Don't forget, Alonso was pulling the pack along, which is why Hamilton's first set of qualifying tires got trashed. It barely mattered for the race itself, but if they had been fighting for position, it would have made a huge difference.

Everyone dove into the pits early just to try and get around Alonso.

Just finished watching the race replay. These new regulations have given us an exciting Spanish GP, which is a plus.

As for the results, they aren't good. Not at all. I was actually feeling hopeful after the US Grand Prix that Ferrari might have something going for them, but on a track that truly exposes everything, it turns out Ferrari has been stuck in neutral for weeks. That's it. I'm officially writing off their season. It’s over.

The haters on this forum are having a field day right now. Let them. The "Great Master" just showed everyone how to drive a car that nobody else on the grid would even use to finish in the top ten. A truly masterful performance. Simply brilliant.

The clown won again. Staying true to his role, he celebrated over the team radio. He’s probably back at the hotel playing with Transformers right now. The guy is hilarious. He has a decent car and he drives well—definitely better than last season—but that clownish posturing... he's clearly missing some details. You know what I mean. Now I'm just waiting for Monaco to dress up as a duck.

The only thing that can save this season is the Dark Prince. I can't believe I'll find myself rooting for Hamilton, but even that is better than dealing with this clown.

Can someone explain what on earth happened with Kobon during the first round—why was he late to the starting line again 🤦?

Someone probably found him and slashed his tire.😢

Pretty sure he had to limp back to the pits on the rim, too.😢

Honestly, I can't believe how well he actually did. Scoring a point after all that? Pure luck. 🙏

Sauber actually pulled off a decent surprise there. 👍

Alonso didn't do anything particularly wrong at the start, other than taking advantage of how clueless our two drivers were. 😳

How much of an idiot do you have to be to pull a move like that? I honestly can't wrap my head around it. 🤣🙏🙏

Even with a puncture right at the start, Kobayashi managed to claw his way back into the points.
He was secretly praying for some kind of miracle from Rosberg to close the gap on his teammate, but honestly, the lead was just way too massive for either of them to bridge.

It was a massive, well-executed effort from Heidfeld, though Petrov just can't seem to find any consistency lately.

After years of those predictable little processions we used to see in Barcelona, we finally got an actual, gripping race today.

Drivers of the day have to be Vettel, Hamilton, Button, and Heidfeld.

Actually, I almost forgot to mention Kobayashi too.

stormybadger8 said:So, whose is it anyway? 🍿

Since when have we actually been watching F1? Like, since 2010 or what? 🙄

Since when exactly was Newey at Red Bull? And what kind of team was that Red Bull outfit before Vettel showed up? 🍿

Haha!

Man, poor Webber—he almost had that guy beat last season!

They actually had to strip parts right off Webber's car just to hand them over to Vettel—all because they didn't want the German throwing a tantrum!

Honestly, if you ask me—and I really think this is the case—Red Bull's entire success comes down to Adrian Newey. It’s all him!

Honestly, I think Vettel just caught a lucky break—he happened to be right there when the rulebook got a massive overhaul!

Everything’s going to settle right into place by next year—it just takes a little time!

So, nobody actually saw who did it? There’s absolutely nothing mentioned in any of the driver debriefs...

All in all, here is what he gets for that hard-fought point...🙏 🙏 🙏

Honestly, sounds like a decent name for a rock band. 🤣

dustyskipper77 said:Just more proof that Alonso is pure class, even without a top-tier car... a brilliant start, but you can only do so much when the machine just isn't there. Hats off to Hamilton, though; he’s fighting tooth and nail to catch a guy driving a rocket ship, but let's be real, that's not his doing...😕

It’s kind of funny, isn't it? Like, how everyone suddenly decides that if Alonso pulls off a killer start, it’s entirely his own genius at work, but the second he finishes down the order because the car is basically a glorified lawnmower, then it’s somehow just the machine's fault. I guess that's just how people wrap their heads around things, maybe.
So, wait, how are we supposed to believe that the balloon doesn't get any credit for how fast Red Bull actually is? I mean, I guess it’s easy to just point at the driver or the aero package, but maybe we're overlooking the whole setup... it's kind of wild if you think about it.
Back in the day, those die-hard Schumacher fans would swear up and down that he was the only reason Ferrari stayed at the top for so long, you know? They acted like the car didn't matter, just him. Then you had the folks claiming Alonso basically performed actual sorcery to pull off those two titles while driving that Renault, which was more of a scrappy underdog than anything else. And now, I guess we're all watching Vettel just sit there collecting wins because, well, it turns out having a lightning-fast car makes things a whole lot easier, doesn't it? Maybe it's just luck, maybe not, but it sure looks that way from where I'm sitting.

Alright, time for me to vent a little bit and get some stuff off my chest... I assume you guys have actually read all the 🤣

Everyone says the Circuit of the Americas is the ultimate litmus test for raw car speed, and honestly, this weekend just confirmed what we already knew. Red Bull and McLaren are basically playing in a different league right now, with the Red Bull looking just a hair sharper. From the perspective of someone rooting for Fernando, it doesn't look good at all—not even a little bit. It feels like that flash of brilliance we saw back in Turkey was just a fluke, or maybe it was just a race where McLaren completely choked.

Ferrari showed up with a fancy new rear wing, which turned out to be a total bust because they interpreted the regs wrong and it got banned. Sure, it might have given them a tiny nudge, but let's be real, nothing major. The real headache for Ferrari is how the car handles when it's light on fuel; once that tank empties, everything goes sideways. They need to fix this immediately, and I'm talking a massive, radical overhaul, because patching it won't cut it.

Fernando had an absolutely killer start from P4, pulling off this incredible move to grab the lead. While he had a full tank, he was holding his own, actually fighting the Red Bull and McLaren head-on, but as the fuel burned off, that gap just kept widening and widening. And don't even get me started on the pit wall's decision to run hard tires for a full 26 laps. Seriously? 26 laps on this year's compounds is just asking for trouble.

So, what’s the play now? Vettel is leading the charge with four wins out of five, and in the one race he didn't win, he still took second. He’s only dropped seven points total...
If I were in Ferrari's shoes, I'd write this whole season off right now, but then again, who's to say the 2012 car won't be a complete disaster too? Probably nobody...
The designers and everyone else in the garage really ought to take a good, hard look in the mirror. How on earth are they letting the leaders pull that much distance?
Ferrari has a pure racing gem in their lineup, yet they aren't giving him the machine he deserves.

And what can I even say about Massa? That guy hasn't put together a decent race since the German GP mid-way through last year. And yet, Ferrari is actually extending his contract for next season? It's pathetic. Massa is driving like a ghost; there's zero effort, zero spark. What's the point of him being there? He's just grinding out P10 finishes.
I'd throw the young Jules Bianchi straight into the fire right now; Ferrari would have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Now, let's talk about these rules....
It's absolute garbage. Total, unadulterated trash. This old troll running the show seems hell-bent on destroying F1 with these moronic decisions. Last year was one of the most thrilling seasons we've seen, so why on earth did they introduce all this nonsense? Real overtaking is dead; it's just people circling each other. Nobody even wants to try a pass because what's the point if Driver A breezes past Driver B before the DRS zone only to have him dive right back under him effortlessly? Any legitimate, high-skill overtake gets neutralized by someone just pressing a button. And the tires? They wear out so fast you're basically pitting every ten laps. At this rate, the only thing worth keeping is KERS.

I genuinely don't understand how anyone finds this entertaining. It’s a circus. F1 is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport, but it's morphing into a goddamn carnival. I'd much rather watch a single race with one genuine, gutsy overtake than a hundred manufactured, artificial ones.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to disrespect Vettel here. The kid is on fire, he's got a monster of a car, and he's milking it for everything it's worth. Just look at Webber in that exact same car—he doesn't look like some alien overlord who's impossible to beat like Vettel does. It proves there's something special about that kid.

darkmarlin16, the gap between first and second has been 7 points for a while now... 😁

Honestly, the best move for Alonso would be to beg Ferrari to loan him to Renault for the rest of the season... In a Renault, he'd probably be fighting for wins every other weekend, but at Ferrari, he can only dream of it. Renault is consistently faster than Massa's setup... and let's face it, Quick Nick and Petrov are just middle-of-the-pack drivers anyway.

Looking at how things unfolded between Vettel and Hamilton, it seems clear that even having DRS doesn't make you invincible; it isn't some magic guarantee that you'll pull off an overtake...

Just look at Webber in that exact same car—he doesn't look like some alien overlord who's impossible to beat like Vettel does. It proves there's something special about that kid.

If you ask me, the real headache and the actual culprit behind all this chaos isn't DRS—it’s Pirelli. 😁 Tires. You could really see that playing out yesterday.

As for Ferrari, we’re basically sliding around on ice whenever we're on the hard compounds. We also took a hit yesterday because we burned through too many sets during qualifying. I guess if they could just stop obsessing over front-row starts and actually save some rubber for the race, things might look a little better. At least until they finally figure out how to fix this car, maybe then we won't be getting lapped by everyone else. 🙏 😁

Honestly, sounds like a decent name for a rock band. 🤣

Let him sit wherever he wants. I really couldn't care less. 😂

I honestly think it’ll be tough to top the claim that Red Bull is only this good because of Vettel rather than Newey.

Super tough.

But don't you see? They basically sidelined Webber from the jump this year just to avoid a repeat of last season's drama.

It really says a lot about that supposed "Vettel superiority" thing. 🤣
