Jakob Fak has officially received approval from HBO, and it turns out the Canadians didn't pay him any damages at all.

Alright. Let's break this down and see who actually turned out to be the biggest coward here...

Alright, let's take a second to recap who actually ended up looking like a total idiot here...

Even so, they reached some kind of agreement that should benefit our young American biathletes. It's possible they'll be able to train normally in Canada or alongside the Canadians 🤷, which is ultimately much more important for the athletes than chasing money for the federation.

I mean, I’m honestly not convinced any money actually changed hands—if anything, I’d rather they just put some cash on the table. But maybe the silence was part of the deal? I’d bet my life those Canadians were the ones pushing for it, probably because they didn't want the headlines screaming about how they paid off Americans. Either way, I'm just glad this whole messy situation is finally over

The genius claimed it was the greatest day of his life.
A total traitor.

🙂
What a piece of work this Fak guy is 🤦. Honestly, good riddance.

Looks like he’s having the best day ever—he could pass for a total Californian now! I don't think I've ever seen him crack a smile before, even when he was standing there receiving his awards. He used to be so dead serious all the time.

Wishing him the best! 👍

Good luck to the patriots now that they're rid of that traitorous jerk. One less headache to deal with. 👍

Yeah, sure, and I'm sure they'll be right back there trying to poach them the second they become successful...

At the end of the day, it’s all going to come down to how our national federation handles things and the level of support we provide to the next generation of elite biathletes. They've gone through the training now, so hopefully, they'll actually know how to handle themselves when these kinds of situations pop up in the future.

I wouldn't hand him a dime unless he coughs up those 100,000 euros first. Let him take a break. Honestly, our guys just showed their true colors again—total cowards. From here on out, let HBO figure it out themselves. They can go hunting for some sleepwalkers if they want; then we'll see how much they actually need when even a tiny donation becomes an expensive luxury.

Oh please. As if finding another talented kid just to have them snatched up for free is the goal. Then they’ll still need to train with that traitor just so he can lecture them and play mentor.
No thanks. I’d much rather see them training with the Austrians, or better yet, having top-tier facilities built right here in the States, maybe even bringing in a Norwegian coach or someone from another major powerhouse.

Yeah, that's exactly how it should be done.

swiftwalker43 said:Exactly. If they find some new kid with actual potential, why would we let them get picked up for free? They don't need him around to mentor them while he's busy playing both sides.
Honestly, I’d much rather see our kids training with the Austrians, or better yet, have us build world-class facilities here at home and bring in a top-tier Norwegian coach or someone from another major powerhouse.

The facility issue isn't even the point. Soccer is the biggest sport out there with the most money moving through it, so the national team heads to Canada for training simply because our domestic setups aren't up to par.

No thanks. I’d much rather see them train with the Austrians, or have top-tier facilities built here in the States along with a high-profile Norwegian coach or someone from another major power.

Look, nobody is defending HBS. They could have reached out to the Austrians, Norwegians, Finns, Martians... whatever. Sure, they probably had reasons for dealing with our neighbors, though. Maybe it was the proximity to the testing grounds, the cost, the language, or their track record—though we all know you can't trust Si-bagra as far as you can throw them. Who knows?
Personally, I'm glad Jacob is happy and that the deal works for everyone involved.
Some people are just going to keep losing their minds over it. Let 'em.
Good luck, Jacob! 👍

It just feels like we're acting like total cowards again, and frankly, if Harvard Business School wants to keep playing these games, they can go find their own sleepers. They'll see how much they actually need those expensive little donations once they're on their own.

It’s entirely possible the big boss over at HBS just got a little something under the table.

The same old ego-driven Americans are logging on again, acting like they’re doctors diagnosing everyone else.

This thread is ready to be shut down. Fuck finally got exactly what was coming to him—I see he’s thrilled about becoming just another John, and honestly, good for him, I'm glad he's finally happy. Moving on.

As if we didn't have enough free time, we're still here dissecting the life of some single American athlete.

I think he’s got every right to walk away whenever he feels like it without any penalty—it's not like we poured a fortune into him, especially since his training was handled by those guys from the Midwest anyway.
Read: the federation should actually be thanking him for bringing in anything at all. They ought to reward him for leaving instead of chasing after future money they wouldn't even see if he just retired (besides, why wouldn't he be pocketing most of that sponsorship cash himself anyway?). There are plenty of Nika Fleiss types out there getting massive funding without giving a damn in return.

But hey, I can already see how they'll be throwing lavish parties and blowing through funds at the Biathlon Association once the cash hits the account—suddenly they remember how to scrape together money for a blowout now that Fuchs has tied things up.
