Roger Wright94 said:Just wanted to drop my two cents on Alonso and everything that went down with him during this race.

First off, the big thing: personally, I’m not complaining at all. Sure, the start was rough, and that basically killed his chances right out of the gate. I’m not making excuses for the mistake—it had massive consequences—but I’m treating it as a given for the rest of the drama everyone's obsessing over.

As for passing Kubica, it was fine by me. The penalty makes sense because they have to be consistent (fingers crossed they actually stay consistent), but so does how Alonso handled it.
Look, I’m not trying to defend him—he’s fine by me—but I think in that split second, he figured he could pull it off without getting flagged. He didn't feel responsible for how things played out. It was a rational move from an experienced driver. Again, I’m not holding it against him.
The sudden Safety Car was impossible to see coming, not to mention Kubica having to retire...

Total frustration all around, but I don't blame my team or my driver. Based on what we saw, Alonso really deserved a podium finish.

Ferrari messed up here. It definitely wasn't Zalon's fault, but Ferrari should have called Charlie immediately to clear things up—ask if they needed to give the spot back or not. They should have told Zalon right then and there: "Give the position back, we know this gets penalized." He can't see the other cars from way up in the air, and he can't decide on his own if a move is legal or not, but the pit wall sure can.

That’s the only real blunder. Not to mention the FIA being useless with these delayed decisions. It took way too long from the actual infraction to them even announcing an investigation, let alone handing out a penalty. Honestly, it's garbage. These things need to be penalized instantly or just handed out as time penalties after the race. Dragging this stuff out for several laps is just stupid.

And even then, this isn't a normal or fair penalty.👎

They don't deserve a championship title, not even by a long shot.👎
It is truly a disgrace, a complete and utter disgrace.
Even a company like Virgin couldn't pull off something that disastrous.🤷
As for Alonso, regardless of how you feel about him, he’s entitled to vent. When someone is systematically trying to tear you down like that, I think anyone would find it incredibly difficult to maintain their composure and stay sane.
Honestly, I can't believe they didn't just tell him to move along immediately. Even my two-year-old nephew could see that what was happening wasn't right.👎
It is absolutely infuriating to see such immense raw potential—we’re talking about a massive 0.6-second gap—just vanish into thin air because of pure incompetence from the pit crew. Honestly, dealing with such complete idiots in the garage is enough to drive anyone to madness. It's just maddening.😠

Do you think the stewards were actually at fault because he started in third but ended up dropping down to seventh—or whatever position it was—immediately after the lights went out?🍿

Keep in mind that Vettel isn't exactly a rookie, and even Mark Webber wasn't considered a world-class elite driver, yet we still haven't seen Vettel effectively push back or hold his own against him.

Just look at the comparison to 2007 with Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. In that scenario, Lewis was essentially stepping into a car for the first time while Alonso was already a reigning World Champion. Even though there was significantly more drama and chaos back then, Hamilton was more than capable of going toe-to-toe with Alonso—all without resorting to any ridiculous antics on the track itself.

Vettel isn't exactly a rookie, and let’s be real, Webber isn't some legendary superstar either. Yet somehow, Vettel still can't seem to land a single solid punch back.

Compare this to 2007 with Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. Back then, Lewis was basically a rookie stepping into the car for the first time while Alonso was already a world champion. Things got way messier than this, yet Hamilton still held his own against Alonso without all the ridiculous drama happening right on the track.

That’s exactly the issue right there. I'm honestly worried it's all on the crew.😉

It’s pretty obvious his team is just sucking up to him. If they actually sat him down and told him to stop acting like a brat, he might actually get it together. But instead, they play these shady games. It should be simple: "Look, kid, beat him on the track or shut up." Maybe then this guy would actually start working, and who knows, maybe he’d actually achieve something for once.👎

It’s like trying to raise toddlers. You can't tell one kid, "That was messed up, you're grounded," and then five minutes later tell the other, "Don't worry, it wasn't your fault," only to take them both out for ice cream and buy them whatever they want. Total chaos.

And that’s exactly why you’re feeling guilty for losing it on them. You’re sending out mixed signals, leaving them totally clueless about what’s actually allowed and what isn't. Of course everything turns into a total mess.

That wing? That's just payback for Turkey, and a slap in the face to Mark Webber. Instead of the two of them stepping up, owning it, and fixing this mess immediately like adults, they've gone and botched everything. They completely blew their chances for the rest of the season. Neither of them stands a chance at a title now—and honestly, neither does the team. 🤦

What’s even worse is the possibility that they’ll take everything from Vettel and turn him into a total pushover like Zalon—someone who spends his entire career terrified of a teammate actually giving him a run for his money. 😢

It definitely wasn't Zalon's fault, but Ferrari should have reached out to Charles immediately to ask for clarification—like, whether he should give the position back or not. They really should have given Zalon an answer the second it happened. They know how these things get penalized; it's nothing new. He can't exactly see all the cars from mid-air or make that call on his own, but the pit wall can.

It looks like Ferrari was thinking along the same lines as Alonso; there was something unique about this specific situation.
And I don't buy this whole thing about questioning the call or waiting for instructions. It needs to be crystal clear, and the driver has to react instantly—we're talking a split-second window here.

...yeah, they should’ve just come out and said it from the jump—that Vettel (or even Webber, if you want to be technical about it) was the clear No.1 driver... but they didn't. And honestly, why would they? You need a damn genius—a real tactical mastermind—to pull off something like that. Neither Webber nor Vettel (not yet, anyway) has that kind of edge. Nobody ever calls their shots like that unless you're talking about Ferrari or Flavio.
So what now? Are they the bad guys? In this mess, there isn't a clean way out for any of the drivers.
All I'm saying is, given how things have played out, nobody can untangle this disaster anymore.

you're talking total nonsense 👎
and you're whining about how Kobayashi (aka being too slow to actually pass him) held up the field just so Hamilton could land right back where he was last race—if you didn't care when the penalty didn't hit Hamilton then suddenly it's a huge problem now...

and as for the button
I couldn't care less about that crap
he's just farming points by driving super safe and taking zero risks, unless someone else happens to be about 5 seconds slower than him 🙂

he just went straight to complaining about being pushed by Kubica

anyway, does anyone have a clip of when Sebastian Vettel overtook Sutil...😕

it's always the same old nonsense—Fettel is never the problem, Zalon is blamed for everything, and suddenly Gumbek is this hidden gem destined for a championship even though everyone was totally tearing him apart on that same topic before—and then you get the same chatter for or against Webber, but honestly, who even cares about any of them when Hemic is obviously going to be the champion in the end ☕

They should’ve just come out and said it from day one: Vettel (or maybe even Weber at the very end) was the clear number one. But they didn't. And honestly, why would they? You need a damn legend to actually pull that off. Neither Webber nor Vettel—not yet, anyway—is quite there. Nobody ever calls their shots like that unless you're dealing with Ferrari or Flavio.
So, what now? They're the bad guys? Honestly, there's no way out of this mess for any of the drivers. No one wins here.
I’m just saying, given how things stand right now, nobody's actually going to untangle this mess.

The FIA can handle it.🤣

I’d bet money that by the end of the season—or maybe it’ll be Vettel, whoever snaps first, though I'm leaning toward Webber—someone is going to pull a total dirty move and ram their teammate. And let’s be real, they won't even pretend it was an accident. Naturally, the FIA will hand down a massive penalty, followed by a media circus where all the absolute filth starts leaking out to the public. Of course, Red Bull will end up taking the hit for it too.

Vettel’s going to end up driving for some backmarker team for peanuts. Meanwhile, Webber's heading into retirement because even Red Bull won't take him, and honestly, if they didn't have anyone else lined up, they probably wouldn't care.

Horner’s gonna be scrubbing toilets in the paddock after this.

So, are you actually trying to tell me that both Alonso and Hamilton were treated equally by McLaren that year?

For what it's worth, hats off to Lewis for that season. I might have even felt bad for him if Kimi hadn't taken the title. It was just the pressure and rookie inexperience that cost him the championship; I don't know how else to read those last two races. It clearly wasn't a lack of talent.

But good luck convincing me he wasn't the team's favorite.

Honestly, looking back at how things went down at Red Bull, Hamilton is actually the one to blame. 🤣

But it wasn't even Lewis—it was his tatek. Did anyone else catch him whispering something right into Webber's ear just before the start? 😬🤣

Seriously though, old man Hamilton is the real culprit here. He’s the one who drove a wedge between the two Red Bull drivers. I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to charm his way back into a management role soon. 😬

Man, what a headache. You’d honestly need some serious wizardry to overtake a car that's five seconds slower per lap, especially when that driver keeps drifting off the racing line. 🤣🤣🤣

It was pretty obvious back in Valencia, wasn't it? 😬

Plus, if you look at the pit pass, it's clearly stated—he was definitely talking about Sebastian Vettel. 🤣🤣🤣

That’s a hell of a bet you’re offering.
I’d bet on tomorrow being a new day.

Honestly, I’d just tell Webber to give his car a thorough inspection before the next race.

Roger Wright94 said:Are you trying to tell me that Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton were treated exactly the same by Ferrari that year?

Otherwise—hats off to Lewis for that season. Honestly, I might have even felt for him if Kimi Räikkönen hadn't snatched the title. It was really just the pressure and that rookie energy that kept him from winning; I don't know how else to read those last two races—it clearly wasn't a lack of talent on his part.

But you're going to have a hard time convincing me he wasn't the team's favorite.

It’s all about perception.

When you have a rookie and a two-time world champion in the same garage, it should be obvious who the lead driver is and who is there to learn the ropes. To claim they were equals—well, that feels almost disrespectful to the veteran, and in a way, it favors the rookie. At the end of the day, though, they both hit the track under identical conditions—they essentially created their own mess.

Lewis actually refused a team order to let Fernando Alonso pass during qualifying—if he had truly been the favorite, he never would have been given an order like that in the first place. Then, in the pits, Alonso ended up blocking Lewis. It was their own drama to deal with.

A separate issue is that Alonso, not knowing how to settle things with Lewis, decided to go to war with the entire organization instead. After tearing the team apart and airing all that dirty laundry in public, it’s no surprise he lost his standing at Ferrari. Still, to be fair, he had the same technical setup on track as Lewis did. And in the end, that's exactly why we lost the championship.

But regarding those starts? He's got a point. Ferrari has thrown away a massive amount of points on starts this season.

That part is debatable. We aren't seeing eye to eye there.

In my opinion, things started going south right after Lewis had that killer start to the season.
When you say "conditions," I assume you're just talking about the car itself. But what about the garage?
