Even when I was spamming the banned users corner, they were fair; they didn't pile on extra penalties. 🙂

Thanks, Nex. 😍

Regarding strikes in general, I have to admit from my own experience that if someone behaves themselves on the forum, they'll likely never get one.
Arguing online, trying to force an issue—it doesn't lead anywhere. Even the person who is right, if they lose their cool, gets a strike. That's just how it works. I guess it's like life in general. 🙂

Oh, sure! And if you're wrong and start throwing insults, you don't get a strike. Perfect system.🙂

Things aren't exactly great. Truth be told. But sometimes you just have to let it go. Save your sanity. This forum isn't worth the stress. Unless, of course, you actually went and did something stupid.🤷

I can’t quite wrap my head around why triggering a thread older than two years is such a massive deal, 🤷 especially since the rules should be universal and shouldn't fluctuate based on some arbitrary timeline.
It feels a bit absurd—like if you decide to revive a discussion about, say, dental implants from back in 2004, the whole thing just gets immediately locked because you dared to bump an old topic. 😕

placidmarlin3 said:I honestly don't get why everyone makes such a big deal out of this... I mean, what's the actual issue with reviving a thread that’s older than two years? It's not like the internet is going to collapse just because someone decided to chime in on an old conversation...🤷Is it just universal, then? Like, does it even depend on a specific era or timeframe... or is it just always like that?
So you decide to start a thread about, I don't know, some fake tooth from back in 2004, and what happens? The whole thing gets locked because you dared to bring up an old topic... ridiculous.😕

You're probably thinking of ŽK, so let me weigh in on that. We see this all the time—someone digs up an old thread from years ago about health, fashion, or skincare. Back then, you didn't have dedicated sub-forums or niche sites specialized in those topics like we do now. Everything was just lumped together... but things have changed quite a bit since then.
Personally, if I think there’s even a slight chance something might still matter today, I tend to leave the door open... we have certain topics in this country that just seem to drag on for years without ever actually being settled.
Honestly, once someone digs up some ancient thread from five years ago and people actually start replying to it, everything just descends into total chaos... 😵
In that case, I’m all for it—if someone wants to hash out a specific topic, they should just start a fresh thread on something similar. It keeps things moving. You get the current crowd who actually want to talk, and the discussion stays way more engaging... honestly, it beats having to slog through four pages of old replies and trying to figure out who half these former users even are or why they're still chiming in... 🤷 On a massive forum like ŽK, stuff like this just slides right through without anyone batting an eye...
On the smaller sub-forums, like SON, things work differently—it just doesn't make sense to go that route there. We deal with much more specific stuff on those boards, and honestly, I don't see the point in having three separate threads about bats or four different ones about stinking birds. Because of that, I usually just leave those kinds of topics alone over there, unless they’re actually tied to a specific situation or a real issue...

Laura Evans3 said:Honestly, I can only hope that our paths don't cross again in the future. 😬 Even if there had been thirty-five of them, it still wouldn't have been enough to make a dent. 😛

It’s only natural that we won't be crossing paths, considering you've turned those PDF files and certain discussion threads into such an absolute mess—it's basically a chicken coop over there, and I simply have nothing to contribute to that kind of chaos.
The core issue lies within that specific quote, "go treat oneself." You didn't penalize it in the moment, but you certainly did with those 35 points in one of your later responses.
On top of that, I mentioned to you back when I was using my old handle that his signature really rubbed me the wrong way, mostly because it was a direct jab at my previous username.
It seems you clearly lack the necessary intuition to distinguish between genuine discussion and someone who is simply trolling or being provocative, and that stems from the fact that you don't truly grasp the nuances of the very subject matter you are tasked with moderating.
Well, please, feel free to keep enjoying yourself in that little playground. Besides, it isn't really your place to lecture anyone on whether the concerns raised by others on this forum are being taken seriously or not.
Since this PDF includes a subtitle that asks for our "comments, ideas, desires, and feedback on how to make the forum better and more civilized," I’d like to offer my own suggestion for improving the atmosphere here. If we truly want to foster a more polite and civil environment, my primary recommendation would be to remove the incompetent moderators.
And you definitely belong right there with them.
Either you need to stop acting like you have an opinion on every single little thing posted here on this forum and actually start respecting the moderation, or we’re going to have a serious issue.
I really appreciate you being so understanding about this.

With over 5,500 posts under my belt on this forum, I’ve managed to rack up four warnings and had 20 of my posts wiped.
I’ve never once called out a moderator for being held accountable—not even when I felt I was being unfairly penalized myself. Why? Because I figured they’re just as capable of making mistakes as anyone else.
There was this one single deleted post—one where I honestly couldn't wrap my head around why it was gone—so I sent a polite private message to the mod asking for some clarity. The response he gave should be a lesson to every single person on this forum:
Your post wasn't "off-topic" or rude, but I removed it because it contained elements that would trigger unnecessary reactions and spark conflict from others. It's better to prevent a fire than to try and put one out!
And hey, thanks for that!
Today, that philosophy serves me well in my role as a moderator.
In fact, I’ve actually requested to have a warning overturned before—either because I clearly misread the situation or because a user gave me a polite explanation that made me realize I’d misinterpreted their intent. And just like the example above, there have been times when a decision was made that went completely against my own view, regardless of how certain I was that I was right.

I truly believe that a kind word can open any door.
If you communicate with respect, that's exactly how people will treat you.

Now the whole conversation feels a bit pointless.

😕

It isn't a problem at all. The actual issue is when someone digs up a dead, buried, rotting thread just to drop a comment like: "I agree," or "Why do you think that's the case?"

There was this one single post that got deleted, and I had zero clue why. So, I played nice and sent a polite DM to the mod asking for an explanation. Their response should be something any forum user can wrap their head around:
Your post wasn't off-topic or rude, but I pulled it because it contained elements that would trigger unnecessary reactions and start fights. Better to prevent the fire than try to put it out!
.

Where on earth were you writing that, the Senate floor? I bet those guys use even harsher language.😁

I'm done trying to "seek justice" on this forum. When some rookie mod does whatever they want just because they're moody or feel like it, there's really no point in hunting for fairness.

William Green4 said:The issue lies with that specific quote, "go treat oneself." You didn't penalize them for it right then, but you certainly did with those 35 points in a later response.

You don't even respond to people telling you to go treat yourself. Honestly, maybe you should start listening to everyone else's advice once in a while. 😉 It looks like you’re already responding to the warning from the MEP regarding what everyone is doing on this thread...

P.S. If you have any issues with the ticket, you know exactly where to take it up. 😁

William Green4 said:On top of that, I mentioned to you under my old handle that his signature really rubbed me the wrong way, since it was specifically targeting my previous username.
It’s pretty clear you aren't cut out for this. You can't tell who’s actually trolling and who's just provoking because you don't truly grasp the subject matter you're supposed to be moderating.

I'm not even sure what your old username was (kloncino). 🙄 😁 I’m not sure whose signature you’re referring to, and honestly, nobody has sent me anything to sign. Take a break and grab a coffee.

Either stop trying to act like you're the boss of everyone on this forum and start following the moderation rules.
Thanks for understanding!

Man, I really miss the days when ZgSash was actually running the show here. The guy actually put in the work and engaged with people—he’d even shoot you a PM if he had to 😲
. He wasn't just shutting down threads or hitting you with some dismissive "that's a stupid question" attitude. Usually, you'd just get ignored or bypassed. I don't get why everyone feels the need to have an answer for everything 🤷

I’ve officially given up on trying to "force justice" on this forum. When some bratty moderator decides to act however they please—simply because they didn't get their way, or just because they feel like being difficult—then there’s really no point in looking for any kind of special fairness.

Heh, maybe this forum actually wants that kind of environment, or maybe I just realized a little too late that there's no sense in chasing fairness here... though not for the same reasons you are...☕

😉
...are you referring to that immaturity when talking about me, or is your opinion that mods are just brats in general?
Maybe they should actually be "of a mature age."

and maybe they should be "of a certain age."

no, not you. I haven't had any run-ins with you. How do you even know we aren't looking for the same things? 😕
If it's a specific moderator, they'll recognize themselves 😁
and yeah, she's an amateur. At least to me. That's how she acts. I don't think people need to be a certain "age" like you claim, but the fact is, someone more experienced is going to know more. It all comes down to how much someone has actually grown up. 🤷
that's not the point

Olivia Moore51 said:No, I’m not talking about you—I have zero experience dealing with you. How can you possibly claim it isn't for those same reasons? 😕
With a specific amount of mileage, people recognize patterns 😁
and yeah, they're acting like a brat. At least in my eyes. And that's exactly how they're behaving. I’m not saying there’s some magic age where someone suddenly becomes "mature" enough for your standards, but let’s be real—someone with actual life experience is going to see more. It all comes down to how much someone has actually grown up. 🤷
That’s beside the point

Actually, it is.
If certain people on this forum think the mods, sub-mods, and admins are too young or too inexperienced—and that it somehow compromises their decision-making—then they can rest easy... 😉They aren't exactly... or am I wrong? Did they even have a clue?
Look, just look—even I don't know how old the youngest one is... /whatever! 😍

Once, after a single post was removed without any clear reason, I sent a polite private message asking for an explanation. The response I got is something every forum user should probably understand:

Thanks for that!
Now, as a moderator myself, I see the logic.
And as a mod, I’ve also requested to have a warning rescinded—either because I clearly messed up or because a polite explanation from a user helped me realize I misread the situation. Laura Evans3 said:but you still managed to wander into that lion's den and walk away with a red card😛:

which seems to be quite an uphill battle for you, especially when I’m discussing topics that fall outside your sphere of understanding....

Laura Evans3 said:you aren't responding to the suggestion to "go treat oneself" (though you might want to take the advice of others who have been through this before😉 ):

this level of rudeness is just so characteristic of you; honestly, it serves as a perfect microcosm of your overall sense of civility and education.
I assume you're waiting for me to strike back with the same intensity, but I won't bother; your own posts provide more than enough insight into your character.....

Laura Evans3 said:you are already replying to the MEP regarding his warning about how people are behaving in this thread...:

in that case, the MEP should have been the one to issue the red card rather than you, and I wouldn't have had a single word to say to him.....

Laura Evans3 said:>p.s. if you have any grievances regarding the red card, you know exactly where to file them 😁:

For what purpose?
have you ever truly realized that you were in the wrong?

Laura Evans3 said:I don't even know what your old username was (little icon 🙄😁 ) I have no idea whose signature you're referring to, nor has anyone sent me anything regarding a signature... just take a breather and grab a coffee...:

I actually sent you a formal complaint about that signature, but instead of addressing it, you just slapped a warning on me for some vague nonsense.
And I am certainly no carbon copy of anyone else; that’s just another example of your rather crude way of expressing yourself...
And naturally, you'll proudly claim I'm just "mod material"... as if that were a compliment.
The goal is to build a decent, civilized forum, yet the moderators behave like unruly street vendors...

Laura Evans3 said:And did you get an invite to this thread? 😍:

If I'm not mistaken, the topic is titled "Do Administrators Ever Actually Honor Grievances,"
so naturally, I have plenty to say about it.

Laura Evans3 said:Kisses, and maybe we'll see each other around the neighborhood.😘

Not a chance....
There is absolutely no way I'd participate in a thread where fleet rate, firmer, and people like that—who operate under your protection—are handing out advice. It seems you find it convenient to label anyone who disagrees with you as inferior, effectively driving them away from here.....
Enjoy yourself.......

Olivia Moore51 said:Man, I really miss the days when ZgSash was running the show here. He actually put in the effort, responded to people, and would even send a reply via private message😲
instead of just shutting down threads or giving dismissive answers like "that's a stupid question." You'd just stay quiet or ignore it. I don't understand the urge to have a lid for every single pot.🤷

Ever since ZgSash left, the pattern here has become incredibly predictable.
On any thread involving a grievance, various "lids" suddenly appear—people who happen to be moderators or have absolutely nothing to do with the subject matter—and they chatter away until everyone is exhausted.
Then, the moderator in charge of this section steps in and locks the thread without a single issue being resolved.
It only ends when someone finally snaps and loses their temper, at which point they earn a ban, because apparently, that isn't how we communicate here.
But of course, Laura Evans3 certainly won't be getting a warning to go treat herself.
If I were to write that on any other thread, I'd receive a warning instantly, and quite frankly, I'd deserve it...

I miss ZgSash too, but one should respect his decision to step away because he simply didn't have the patience for this anymore.
That is certainly within his rights...
