How do I change the display text for a link?

It seems plenty of people are still "trying" to rename their links (and succeeding🤷), so I’ll lay out how to handle this—if you can even call it a problem—in four steps:
1. Locate the link:
Code:
We want this link to display on the forum as "LOL"
2. In the toolbar, click "Insert Link", which looks like this:

3. A prompt will appear saying "Please enter the URL of your link:". Copy, paste, or manually type the URL you want to use. In this case, it's
Code:
.
4. Once you hit "Ok", you'll get the following code:
Code:
You'll notice that after step 3, there is blue text recorded (I've bolded, italicized, and colored that part blue for clarity). You can change that specific section to whatever you want, and it will simply rename the link.
For instance, I’m going to rename that part to "LOL", resulting in:
LOL
Hope this helps. 😉

If you just go with the button-click method, it’s way easier—you basically type out your text (in this case LOL), highlight it, and then follow those instructions up top. It’ll automatically drop the LOL right inside the brackets for you.

So, we finally settled the matter. 😉
I have a question regarding these "testing" threads for images, links, and such—what’s actually the point? I noticed there is a detailed FAQ that lays out exactly how to handle this stuff. Yet, people keep cluttering the board with pointless "tests," even though you have the option to "view post" before publishing. I realize the moderators call the shots here, but from where I'm sitting, this seems entirely redundant.
Hey. 🙂

Fine. Then what exactly is that in your signature if it isn't a "renamed link"?

Basically, you just type out whatever you want the link to say—like check this out—then highlight that text, click the icon, paste your URL, and you're all set 👍
